Many flaws...
Few good points...
People tell me to judge it on it's own, without thinking about DA:O, but even doing that doesn't earn it any merits. I can say that, compared to other BioWare titles, this is probably one of the worst one's I've seen. And I played NWN, which, in contrast, was a better release (for it's timeframe.)

I mean its not a bad Action RPG and I'm growing fond of Varric and Merill but other than a few good companions this game pales in comparison to DA:O
Lots of reasons this game is below average:
-repeated dungeons... unacceptable
-downloadable texture pack... Can't run DX 11 without huge drop in FPS... I hate to say it but this game was made for console users (and they seem to be the happiest)
-art style darkspawn and elves are soooo ugly - Just give me my Tolkien elves, orcs and dwarves please
-Animations are like bad anime... seriosuly bad anime too
- secondary and side quests are useless and boring... except one gets you Fenris
- Cannot even change your companions equipment
the list goes on and on and on.
This game feels like a rushed a rushed Mass Effect 2 in the DA world. Don't get me wrong. ME2 is much better than this game.

would of been higher if there was less recycled maps.
Edit: Not that it matters but I've checked all the pages so far and everyone who has the game registered has given it a 7 or higher. Mostly 8/10's not that it proves anything though
Everyone? No, not everyone. I gave it a 4.5, for example.
Besides...

Probably enjoyable for people who also like games like Bajonetta or Devil May Cry, but a bad RPG.
Call of Duty respawns in every fight are the death strike.

I love it. The companions are great and the romances are good ( at least he one I've done). The new gameplay makes for far greater intractiveness. A voiced character is definetly a plus. The only thing dragging it down from a ten are the repeated dungeons but I can live with that.

Could have been even better if it wasn't for the recycled maps and if the companions would be able to equip armors.
I wanted a cool game and i got positively surprised.I have fun with it,and i will replay it a lot.

Pretty bad compared to the original. i will never understand why devs choose to change a very successful system; have they never heard of the saying 'if it aint broke don't fix it'? Oh hang on, I do know. It's called EA's console fetish.

Kind of dumbed down, but I like the concept of a passage of years and the story does "flow" better than previous titles. However I just can't shake the feeling that it could have been sooooo much more.

Not at all what I expected in a sequal. To explain my rating, I am not using a system comparing it to other games, I am rating it by expectation vs what was delivered. If I spent 8 hours playing pong I would feel less like I wasted 8 hours. Does that mean I think pong is better? No, it just means that this game so badly dissapointed me that I wish I had never played it to begin with. That is about the worst thing anyone can say about any game.

I am not very far in the game but I am enjoying it so far. If I had to give it a rating it would be a 7, which is very good considering that I actually rate it like its supposed to be, where a 5 is average and what you expect from most games you buy. If I use the broken game review scores I would have to go with a 9, since they seem to consider 7 to be the average.
I'm sure you'll love the ending!

i am tempted to put zero, but i shall not. The reason i am is because how hard this game is for me to play it. i mean, surely a game deserves a 0 when as soon as you start playing it you want to stop?

a LOT of reused environment and the color pallet is bland but otherwise VERY good

I liked a lot of the stories they came up with, however, especially for the companions. Aveline's in Act 2 was particularly hilarious. Hearing the hero actually speak was a nice change of pace from DA:O, and the emotion wheel was nice as well.
As for the loss of tactical play... You obviously aren't playing it on a high enough level. Not sure how easy it is on lower levels, but Nightmare on this is harder than Nightmare on DA:O. I'm playing Nightmare on Origins almost exclusively now, and yet, I have trouble in DA2. There are times when the game seriously beats on you if you think you can waltz through even a common battle without a plan. Sometimes even if you have one.
One of the things I absolutely love about the game is how your choices affect things later on. It makes the replay-ability much higher, in my opinion. You really never got that feel in Origins, except for the epilogue slides. In DA2, I actually sit there and think about which decision I should make, for fear of it coming back and biting me later. Choices in Origins never gave me that much pause. Few games have, in fact.
The graphics don't bother me that much. I don't have the hi-res pack installed, nor do I have a DirectX 11 graphics card (yet), so I'm looking at basically the 'bad' graphics, but it still doesn't bother me. Not sure why so many people harp on this, it's not like it's 8-bit textures.
That said, on to the bad news. I seriously disliked the copy-and-pasting of a lot of the "dungeons". It's probably going to start grating my nerves on subsequent plays. While I like what they did with the hurlock looks, they basically took the Arcane Horror and renamed it 'Darkspawn Emissary', even while having Arcane Horrors look exactly the same. That's rather disappointing. Both these things and other small details force me (as much as I hate it, and you have no idea how much, after reading their other posts bashing the game on the forums) to agree with those who gave it worse scores in saying, the game feels rushed in it's development.
All said and done, I'm enjoying the game (even as I get the crap beaten out of me), and can't wait to see the ending. And I know once I do, I'll be returning to play it several times.

Not being generous. I'm happy that I'm borrowing the game from a friend, which he wanted me to play before he did to get a friend review before he plays it.

Just finish the game and I want more. Both DA:O and DA:2 are just great games in my opinion. I really don't care about what others have to say, ya not having a toolset or the "tactic view" for PC sucks, but the game its self is great. To say the least DA:2 runs laps around Two Worlds 2 / Fallout NV / Arcania - Gothic 4 / Drakensang: The River of Time. For a few of the latest RPGs I've planed at lest. Off to replay DA:2 as a Mage now later.
