I feel kinda weird posting this because I do think Dragon Age 2 was a good game. I'm not one of these people who hated DA2 because the main character speaks. And aside from the crappy ending, the story was good and I'll play the third game. But it's a difference between a three-star review and a four-star review for me.  You can definitely see where EA's whip marks are showing up on Bioware's products. Both Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 have felt like really good expansion packs. Both games are full of instances where you can tell Bioware were under orders to make things "simpler". Both have a ridiculous amount of DLC. Both had endings that were completely structured to make you buy the third game. At least Bioware has always been upfront that Mass Effect is a trilogy. In Dragon Age's case, if you wanna drop the Warden's story and make up a new character, that's fine. But give them a satisfying ending. Not a trailer for Dragon Age 3: The Search for More Money.
I can't really blame Bioware in this. I think they're being forced to meet some very brutal deadlines. It was EIGHT months between DAO and DA2 releases. Compare that to three years and seven months between The Witcher and The Witcher 2. Or the five years between the Elder Scroll games. You cannot make a truly satisfying sequel in that time frame.

Wasn't Mass Effect 2 already in production prior to EA purchasing Bioware?

Other than that, I generally agree with you. I don't think Bioware would've dared rush out an RPG in one year had it not been for EA's negative influence.

to shorten what the OP said, "EA is really greedy and is abusing its power over bioware for money"

DAO was released for PC, PS3, and XBox in November 2009. So that's actually just shy of a year and a half.

Its just the way it is. EA rushes the dev teams to cash in faster and spend less resources on development itself. Honestly, I doubt EA cares about how good the game is. They just want the "quick buck", with little regard to how the rushing affects the game. Its happened before, and will happen again.
Thats my take on it, anyway.

Have you ever heard of a quality game coming out in a year and a half?  I certainly haven't.

And considering the first Dragon Age took like 5 years to make...:?

Oops, my bad. Wikipedia had version 1.04 released on July 2010 and I misread it. But still compared to the time-frames between other major RPGS and their sequels, it's ridiculous.

This, it's much easier to lock and sweep things under the rug, then confront them directly. EA is a horrible company.

At the end of the day, it's all about the money. I only wish Bioware had been bought by a company that had more of a soul.

Aslong as they fix the bugs I plan on buying, it may not be what I hoped for and may even not be the best game of the year but I'm willing to give it a try based on a standalone game not an epic sequal to the original.

EA are wolves in sheep's clothing. At least Activision don't directly deny being "evil".

AS I said, DAO was liked it was much RPGer.

We should push a little if possible as far as DA is concerned.

DAO is pretty much the last game Bioware was making before the EA regime. I suppose ME2 might count too if they started after ME1. EA needs to give them more time on games, RPGs aren't something you can rush.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to challenge the op's point about EA affecting Bioware's quality (which has become kind of hard to ignore these days, IMHO). Just wanted to correct a somewhat important detail. I highly doubt DAII would be getting any praise at all if it was produced in eight months. That's about the same time they took to do Awakening.

I don't know about EA anymore, they've been completely bipolar.

On one side, we have both Dead Space and Mirror's Edge, both excellent, rather experimental games, one that spawned a series and one which didn't, and last year they released NFS: Hot Pursuit, a revival of the Hot Pursuit series (The Baldur's Gate of NFS fans) that IMO, was an excellent game.

Then we have stuff like that interview with Zur that states that EA rushed DA2, and the whole situation of Mirror's Edge 2 being cancelled or not (conflicting reports) because it didn't sell well enough and Crysis 2 which is shaping to be a disappointment bigger than DA2 for its fanbase.

I really, really don't know anymore.

Bioware half-assed it. Don't be afraid to blame them, they can learn.

In Dragon Age 3 the end boss should be EA CEO John Riccitiello.

Right, because Dead Space 2 wasn't in development for nearly three years. Maybe Bioware was just done with the game, and there isn't some malevolent corporate conspiracy going on.
