How long of a production time does ME3 have?

ME2 came out January 10, ME3 slated for Q4 this year. So 19-23 months between games not necessarily the same as development time though.

A year plus cycle is just to short for such games in my opinion...

Really its a combination. Bioware started a decline after BG 2. Compare BG 2 to KOTOR and you see how stripped down it is. DA:O stripped a little from KOTOR. That said I think Bioware wanted to really develop DA:O in the spirit of BG and EA has helped stifle those designs.

EA needs to have more of their studios
adopt Blizzard's policy of releasing games when they are done. Not to
say that DA2 is a poor game, but its obvious EA games could be so much
better if they would simply devote more time to development to release
some real blockbusters.
But who tells them they are "done". Personally, I don't like many of Blizzard's games, so what you said is simply an opinion not a fact.

In order for the customer base to contribute, a beta needs to be made available and people nee to provide honest feedback. Failing that, our only recourse is to tell them what we do and do not like after the game is released, without being insulting or vulger, and hope they listen.

Despite what you think anytime Blizzard releases anything the PC gaming world takes notice. Warcraft, WoW, Starcraft and Diablo always have gotten a lot of attention because they are all excellent games. Blizzard takes it times and keeps their games under an iron curtain. Blizzard knows how to make really polished games they used to know how to make a good story but thats for another discussion.

I think the rule of thumb is never to cave in to Preorder bonuses ever. Never base your decision on an incomplete demo that would cause you to preorder. Last but not least, never preorder or buy your products through a service such as eastore or steam and be bound by additional agreements.

All these bonus items, and advertisements/legends serve to spread interest in buying the game thus making money. I won't be preorder products again, that's for sure. Guess that loss of $60 thought me a valuable unfortunate lesson. Hopefully you learned something too :)

If one raised legit concern/dislike about it, in a civil manner, you quite often got "flamed" for it.
But that also was true the other way around.

When you read how Bioware got started and the games they created at that time compared to todays standard on the games they are making today you see the change. Dragon Age has a weak story and rpg element to it and lets the cut scenes do most of the talking instead of the story itself. DA2 is the basic shell of a game ripe for DLC making players hungry for more content to fill in the gaps in the game.

NWN and Baldur's Gate by far is a much better game with a solid element in story line and game play. If NWN or Baldur's Gate was remade it would out shine the DA series because its consistent in story telling and game play.

You think with this many **** posts, Bioware would've taken note or so would have EA.
Do they really not care for anything besides their cash?

From what I saw from other mod posts, they just want to believe that every negative post is just a troll from 4chan. Denile is not just a river in Egypt.

That's disapponting.
I don't think Bioware is used to this much fans whining over their game.

It's a gaming forum. This much hate is common.

The waves of magically appearing mobs are my biggest complaint about DAII. Lazy, lazy, lazy game design.

I just keep wondering how big of an effect EA had on DA:O?

Would that game too have been better without them?

The sad part is no BioWare can't tell EA off, they own them. It's not like the old days when a company like BioWare gets a publisher like EA to invest in the game and they do whatever. EA owns bioware, it is a devsion of EA. Much like Alienware has gone down a bit since Dell bought them. Alienware, like BioWare keep their names, and the status of that name while EA makes the money. It's just that simple.

One good thing came from this though, I will preorder the next bioware titles that come out with some intelligence. Meaning I will use that you have three days to get your title from us, that gamestop has to chill for two days and see the responses and the you tube postings before I buy another one. I have been buying BioWare titles since BG and now I feel I might not buy another one.

A lot of people in this thread are bandwagoning. Have you ever stopped to thing that maybe they have more than one team working on each title in their IPs?

For Origins maybe some smaller changes where made.....
But fo DA2  i wouldn't be surprised if

EA was abusing its power over bioware for money,  they don't care about the quality of the game.
They just want the quick money.

Do you guys remember this   "Our Merge with EA will not affect the quality of our titles"

Its sad that Bioware didnt live up to that claim. DA2 really looks like the worst RPG they've ever made, and I'm glad I didnt buy it.

I want more strategic Isometric top down view RPG games, I suppose I'll have make do with Avadon the black fortress when it gets released on the PC later this year.
You mentioned that you didn't buy it, so you're judging the whole of DA2 on... the demo? That's rather unfair. You really can't call any game the 'worst (insert genre) of the year' before you experience all of it.

You're right for the most part... but just because the world takes notice does NOT mean that these games are good ones. WoW for one, has just as many people hating it as they do loving it. SC and Diablo are good games, and I have a mediocre opinion (at best) about Warcraft. The 'world takes notice' mostly because of the number of subscribers (and my short time in WoW showed me that the only players I found were <14). If nobody played those games, I highly doubt anyone would take notice...

Not only that, but I only added one short line anout that developer's games. My post was really about who decides a game is truely done. Without an open public beta, and dev's that listen to your feedback (the amount of which I'm sure is massive), nobody can honestly say anything about the game being 'done'. That's for the QA testers to decide, and, like I said, if EA really is the money-hungry machine most claim it to be; what better way to make money than to release games people aren't going to run to the forums and complain about. Its as simple as that.

Im not trying to flame anyone, I'm just trying to provide my honest feedback. Therefore, if you take offense, I'm sorry.

You're assuming development on the sequel starts on the day of release,  actually,  it's the first few weeks of sales that determines it.  So knock 2-3 months off any estimate you might make.

Can you sort your post into paragraphs? It's quite cluttered, and kind of painful to read ( Not literally, mind you.)
