You cannot in good faith limit a persons ability to play a game because of a forum post.

The best thing about the ban is the fact that Mr. Woo`s answer totally justifies asking "Have you sold your souls to the EA devil?" Judging by that EULA they definitely have done that!!!!Fissure wrote...

Or
"talking crap" in a forum, or chatroom. Calling a company a devil, so
you make it so the guy can't play his own game. Are you all crazy.
That;'s gonna look good, he insults you so you ground him from playing
the game. Get over yourself EA, some people think your a **** company,

In Germany they can say no as often as they want in the first 6 months they HAVE TO take it back and give you a new copy if the program is faulty and doesn't run.

I know, I know, EA's bottom line is more important than individual rights. I read that earlier.
And once again, EA is not stealing from anyone. The user has every right for a full refund depending on where he purchased it. Otherwise he can wait out his ban or create a new account.

There are hoops that you have to go through; however, companies cannot deny you a refund for a nonfunctioning product. He'll probably have to speak with a manager or two, but most retail companies will cave in and offer the refund in order to keep future business.

Been a while since I posted in the forums, but today friend sent me a link to the news where people we blocked from playing a game due to forum post by BW or EA (don't care really), so decided to drop by and type a line or two.
This is unacceptable. The level or marasmus in such actions of Bioware or EA is way more than any society can handle. By posting that the game sucked (and so far I played just two hours and I think it does suck to my liking... now Im probably will be banned) and being blocked from what he paid for is just sick, and I hope that guy will go to court.
I think this will lead to drop of company ratings (for me already Bioware went from good company to pile of corporate ...) or people will simply start to create two accounts - one for forums and one for games.
Bioware can talk as much as they want that customers are not the one who pay their bills, but if customers will stop supporting the company, then investors will find it risky to pay your salaries and will go else where. No one will finance something that can't sell it's products.
I understand that you paid a lot for reviews, because otherwise it's hard to explain how such high scores relate to such low customer responses, and thus want to protect your investment. But who really gives a crap here? You are just a company and have no right to first take money for a product and then blocking the product you just sold, If you don't have balls to take such comments, then simply close the forum.
And who gives a crap that Bioware employees were working late. Sorry the world is round, Stanley, when some sleep others just start to work. So if you can't handle the work, then higher moderators that will do it for you, but don't just ban people or close threads so that you can go home early.
Go ahead and block my profile too, I'm from Sweden and we have our PirateBay and high speed internet opened 24/7.
Being enraged like that isn't in of itself a bad thing but you should always try to be fully informed.
The user whose account was temporarily suspended will be back with full privileges reinstated in three days, so he will be able to activate and play his copy of DA2 then. furthermore if he had activated his game before suspension he would be able to play it. Not being able to play his game at the moment is a secondary effect caused by it not already being registered, not the primary intention behind his suspension.
He was suspended because something he said in a post was deemed inappropriate/offensive by another user who reported him. Had this not happened we would not have 20+ pages of people jumping to conclusions.
If by some result he was rendered permanently unable to play it then it would all be justified, but as I stated in an earlier post I don't have the information to support permanent unplayability being possible or impossible.

And yet, the number of threads that have been critical of the game that have been locked? That's a lot. Not all of them were spam. And, yes, the company line is "Take it to the review thread", but... why can't we have multiple review threads? We have multiple threads about the lack of SE turning up.

Most of those end up getting locked because the "coversation" generally devolves into insults, general ranting and hate-spewing. That being said, there is an official thread for such feedback. I don't believe there was an official thread for SE cancelations.

First things first. None of this would have happened in the first place if the game didn't suck.
Second. 23 pages, umpteen topics, a 3 on metacritic, and 1 sucky sequel later and it's safe to assume Bioware has indeed sold its soul to the EA devil.
What a mess.
I just want to back up what Ebenezer said. I've been a fan of Bioware for years, yet I've generally avoided these forums like the plauge. However this atrocity that has been commited with a valid purchaser losing their game that they paid for over a petty insult has caused me to become vocal.
Dragon Age 2 DOES suck. I'm not going to write a review, plenty of people have done this, but I just want refute the Bioware staff's idiotic idea of the low ratings being a 4chan raid.
Firstly, if it was a 4chan raid, the reviews would be in their thousands, as evidenced by a recent 'love machine' act of subscribing to a youtube user and making him extremely popular (I'll send you the rest of the story if you wish). The fact is, people outside of 4chan actually do think DA2 is bad. I know it's an unthinkable thought for the staff at Bioware, but it's true.
The people saying 'hurr durr the game got good reviews you must be trolling', I want to tell you about something called a payed review. Let's look at some reviews, shall we?
Half Life 2 http://www.metacriti.../pc/half-life-2: Notice how the review scores and the user scores are very similar? You can see that people honestly did think it was a good game.
Portal http://www.metacriti.../game/pc/portal : Notice how the user reviews are also very similar to the review scores.
Psychonauts http://www.metacriti.../pc/psychonauts : Notice how the user reviews are actually a fair bit higher than the review scores.
Dragon Age: Origins http://www.metacriti...gon-age-origins : Same deal and proof that it's not a franchise boycott.
Kane and Lynch 2 http://www.metacriti...ynch-2-dog-days : Once again, notice the ratings being in the same general line of thought
Oblivion http://www.metacriti...lls-iv-oblivion : Notice how, although the user reviews are lower than the reviewer scores, the game is generally considered good.
Splinter Cell: Conviction http://www.metacriti...cell-conviction : Notice how the review scores are DRASTICALLY higher than the user scores. This was no 4chan raid, this was infact a group of paid reviews.
Finally, I want to leave you with Dragon Age 2.
http://www.metacriti...c/dragon-age-ii
Honestly, I don't care whether I get bombarded with screams of "TROLL" or have a mod ban me, I just want you to know something, Bioware.
You make me sick.

Hmm... point taken. I do agree that probably it was not wise of me to rely on modern age news media (link). Still I think it's not right to prevent user from using a product he paid for, be it a permanent block or just for a few days/hours.
And that was what I was talking about. I don't really care for that guy/girl. A punishment is a punishment, he said something he got punished. Same way as probably I might get punished for my post. But there are limits and both legal and ethical issues to how far this punishment can go.

Thank you for your comment, though it has nothing to do with the discussion at large. The user was banned for being offensive, not for hating the game. There are a crapton of hate thread right now and none of those people are complaining about this issue. That being said, the a lot of the 0/10 reviews for DA2 were placed within hours of the game being released, not nearly enough time for someone to make an adequate opinion of the game. That seems fishy. I'm not saying it was 4Chan. It could be a handful of people with a lot of time on their hands. I'm not even defending the game. It just looks fishy.

I dunno, In DAO I think the activation thing didn't happen until you bought DLC (or registered to get Shale). I bought ME1 and ME2 off of Steam so the DRM there was just Steam.
This game though required it and you can't click "I disagree" if you want to play your shiny new $60 game. So all this about "you agreed to the TOS and EULA is meaningless.
