You cannot in good faith limit a persons ability to play a game because of a forum post.

Just joined the thread to tell you guys that news about this incident are already spreading across other Gaming Sites .. Germanys biggest News Mag, "GameStar" has just put it into a News, and well .... the community there totally agrees with you guys here that banning someone for critizing and writing down his frustration (without any swear words!) is, well .... bull****. Even if it's limited and He's only indirectly unable to access his purchased game now. Crticism HAS to be allowed, allthough some people lack the right words to express their disapproval without insulting or mocking you, Bioware .... as one of your fans I am disappointed by this behaviour. :-/  Great PR I'd say ...

Here's the link for those of you that speak german ... oherwise use Google Translate. ^^

I can, however, limit someone's ability to enjoy a game if I first take them through an epic D&D setting, and then show them Dragon Age 2.

Oh and let me know how that boycott works out people...lol.

Yeah, whatever the 'justification' this sort of things should be - and I suspect probobly is (definatly in the UK) - illegal. A company should not be allowed under the law to stop someone from using an item they have purchased. Especially not for a comment that while pointles... was actually proved correct by this whole fiasco.

Everyone is watching. This is all over the various big gaming sites. I'm a fan of Bioware games; but i'm rapidly becoming more wary. I'm going to be keeping my own eyes on this out of morbid curiousity.

This has completely cemented that I'm not buying this game new. The first pre-owned copy I see I'll probably pick up but forget buying it new. If this is how Biowea treat customers then **** being a customer of theirs.

Ok I'm not reading through 40 pages of arguments, could somebody please explain to me precisely what BiowEA can do in terms of stopping playing the games I pay for? As someone who has preordered every Bioware game except DA2 for the last decade and still plays them regularly, but has also been banned a few times from the forums, this is very relevant to me. Sincere thanks in advance.

Bioware will steal all your games, first those you purchased digitally, excpect EA SWAT team to come a few hours later for the hard copies. They will also take your firstborn.

How do you bring this upon yourself?
1) Comment how you think the EA/Bioware merge is not the best thing since sliced bread
2) Comment how you love your family more than EA
3) Comment how you don't believe DA2 is actually the best RPG ever created
4) Think any of the above
5) Fail to pray to EA/Bioware gods/execs 5 times a day, while facing the direction of EA HQ

You're sincerely welcome

Shouldn't you be banned now, LordKain? I think calling another user a tool falls under conduct which is unwanted or might embarrass another player.

I just wanted to say that this practice is absolutely unacceptable. It doesn't matter what the guy said. Ban him from your forums all you want but to lock people out of ability to play their games or access DLC because of forum posts is way way beyond what any of us shoud tolerate as customers.

Big Blue Car,

It looks like when you are banned, it will be impossible to *activate* your game under that account for the length of your ban. It appears to me that there is nothing stopping you from from just registering the game under another account, though some have mentioned the possibility of EA checking IP addresses.

Have we reached clarity on this? If he could have just activated the game under a different account, then the ban is really not that much of a big deal. I mean, I'm not sure he deserved the ban, but the bile that has been generated has mostly been about his being allegedly prevented from playing the game. This does not seem true to me.

What it seems like is that he has been prevented from registering the game under the online account of his choosing, which happens to be offending account. Therefore the punishment is beyond its original intention, probably, in forcing him to use more than one online account, which would be annoying. But it does not appear to have actually affected his ability to play the game.

Unless there is an IP address issue? I think it would be nice if we could stop arguing long enough to settle that question.

Good to see you recognize one of your own.  Yes, I was contacted and informed that one of their trolls had escaped and I was dispatched to bring you back.  Please, don't struggle.  It'll only make it worse.

I think it would be best if we all take a small pause, since this thing has blown way out of proportion. When that happens, fact and fiction tend to mix, and in the end, no one is even sure what is true and what is not.

Just take a second and calm down. Let's be civil here, since that is the best approach.

Yep, that guy must probably manage over 100 different accounts and is all day having conversations with him self. What a talent! He probably also wrote ALL the negative user reviews on metacritics and is part of a secret organization which the goal to destroy Bioware. Now go and check if your tinfoil hat is still on so the aliens won't manipulate your mind and have a nice day.

Calling somebody a tool is breaking a rule. Calling somebody a moron after having called him a tool is most certainly reason enough for a ban.

Let's see how well BioWare enforces their own rules. Perhaps you'll have a change of perspective after EA has locked you out of your games.

Your avatar suits you. Why do you argue for reprehensible acts? Are you trolling or are you just a huge shill?

I'm surprised this issue isn't resolved yet, but EA has always been terrible at listening to their customers' feedback over the years... I suppose I shouldn't be.

PS. I don't know him, but it seems Mr. Woo is only the messenger, and I feel sorry for the hate directed at him around the internet for this if what he says about EA creating this ban is true.
