Because Stanley Woo wanted to find out what happened? And that he actually stayed untill about 11PM last night to try to clear this up, should tell us something about how Bioware do care.
You cannot in good faith limit a persons ability to play a game because of a forum post.

With all this [stuff] going down right now, you really don't know. Wouldn't surprise me if I was banned now for spoilers on the general discussion sector.

They are quick to jump to the conclusion of all negative reviews being written by people who "didn't even play the game" or trolls. They are obviously ashamed of this pile of garbage they call a video game. Why do you think the day one DLC exists? Because the fan boys will buy all of it up to make up for the lost sales of people who actually watch a gameplay video or play the demo. This thread as a whole has made me lose all respect for Bioware.Alastanir wrote...

In light of these shennanigans, and with the not-so-postiive reviews, can we really speculate that the developers are proud of DA2? I wouldn't be if I was on the DA2 project. Methinks the marketing department of EA pushed this out the door too quickly and there was nothing the developers could do about it.

That was not why he was banned. He was banned for using profanity in a different post.
Take a look around. Many people call us names. They aren't banned.
This guy triggered an alert for his profanity and, due to an error, was unfairly banned.
Still, hopefully it is sorted now.
So does this mean that the glitch that would prevent people from playing an offline, single player game and all of the content they bought and paid for has been corrected and will never happen again?
Don't get me wrong, if this was an MMO and the persons behaviour seriously affected other players ability to get online and enjoy their game then an account ban would work, but it is a bit of a kick to the head for a game company to have the ability to mess over a paying customers offline content like that.

I can't believe that you honestly think we would believe anything you are saying. I've been keeping up with this kid's story all day and have come to the conclusion that Bioware didn't know how to take criticism and decided to just ban this kid and steal his video games from him. You are terrible people. He paid $60 out of his pocket for your game and gets treated that way for a simple remark. Then you have the balls to try to cover the whole situation up AFTER it makes headline news on the biggest gaming websites. I will never buy anything from Bioware or EA again. How dare you do this to one of your customers then try to cover it up with some generic excuse like a "glitch in the system". If this is the future of the video game industry; I don't want to support or be a part of it.
Doesn't really matter what you think happened or did not happen the fact is the guy can play again the Devs said was an error. Whether you believe them or not upto you.

The thing is that if you get banned on the forums of a MMO you still can play the game anyways which he could not here even if the game is not a MMO.
I also dont buy the it was a bug in the system, they could at least came up with something less looking like an insult at people's intelligence

That he was prevented from playing offline was incidental. All that happened was that he was prevented from registering the game. Yes, that means he couldn't play, but if he had already registered, he'd have been fine.

@ carfax. I think your DLC is still inactive, because the DLC is tied to your old account. In DA: Origins, and maybe in Mass Effect 2, you can forceload the game. And I don't think Bioware can transfer your dlc over to your new account, EA would have to do this. Or maybe Fernando Melo, Bioware's DLC guy.
As for me writing about people following a manual, please remember that a lot of EA support is now outsourced to other countries than the US. (just info here). They'll probably have a piece of paper telling them what to do in these cases.
Isn't there a age verification gate filter for the Dragon Age forums, or was that only at the old Bioware forums? So basically using any kind of profanity would get you locked out from the forums? Do EA really have people monitoring the forums looking for profanity? Their terms of service, listed in this thread apparently suggest it. I'm not saying that this is the case, just EA might do it.
Text parser. Certain words or phrases either automatically trigger a ban, or flag the post for review for a ban. It's pretty old tech, early 80's stuff, all automated.
Alot of MMOs use it today to. Asheron's Call sends up review flags that'll get you a delayed ban/gag for certain things.

Glad they did because this is how I discovered this piece of news before i have given Bioware any money for this game. "Glitch" or not, it is hardly encouraging to know I can be arbitrarily blocked from playing a game I have paid for. I was going to buy this game but now I seriously doubt it. Ah well.. It looked like a watered down version of the original anyway.

Try reading the first lines of any EULA that comes with your physical product then.
Edit : Actually let me do one for you. From the DA2 one as a matter of fact. Word for word end of the very first paragraph. "This Software is licensed to you, not sold."

Bioware and EA have the right to do whatever they want, their forums their rules. I amazed how many people actually feel that they hold some sort of "power" when posting on forums. Company hosted message boards, why woudln't it be highly monitored.

They have the right to ban you on the Forums but they have no right denying you access to their games just because what you said. This isn't an MMO, this is a Single Player game.

Whatever is said whatever is done the fact is party a. got his account back and party b. apologized.
