You cannot in good faith limit a persons ability to play a game because of a forum post.

How to spot a troll

1. Does the person have ANY registered games on their account profile

2. Has the person signed up within the last 1-3 days?

3. On their profile when you click it, is there not a single postive post about Bioware or their game?

This is a disgrace, someone got banned by EA mind you for an insult, not a constructive thought. A flat out insult and they make the situation even worse. It was only for 72 hours but I personally am going to ask they remove the person for good from these fourms.

He has created a massive wave of Spam, Threats, Haressment on the fourms. He claims the game sucks so bad in some of his posts, but in others hes complaining because he can't play. Kinda a double standred if you ask me. He is blowing his nerd rage, clearly he has some issues. I suggest we just ignore them. The worst thing they can hear is silence.

I don't think you understand what a troll is.  Those people are bringing up legitimate concerns, they're not trolling.  They're not doing it just to get a rise out of people, which is what trolling is, they're doing it because they feel what EA did was unjust.

And you're personally offended that a dude insulted EA?  Really?

We're not causing grief, we're raising awareness. It's ok, it's a common mistake.

Your raising awareness of something thats been around for years that hasn't changed? Do you want a pat on the back or a cookie? Any company can ban you from using their products whether its games, music or movies discs. Specifically any of them which use a EULA which is thousends of companies. Regardless of legal or illegal if you personaly are affected by it, then by all means go to court get it overturned, people claim its illegal it canbe overturned so what exactly are you raising awareness of? .. Nothing that hasn't existed for  many, many years. The only difference now is all of sudden a million new accounts pop up on Bioware forums claiming to fight for justice for a. a person who doesn't seek it himself and b. had no proof of why he got banned in reality.

Your argument seems to be: "Entertainment companies have been screwing customers for years, why are you now getting upset about it?".

LOL, you're right, it has been going on for years but people are tolerant and tend to put up with BS for a while before they fight back. The fight has now begun though.

That insult again, for those who might actually think this person has a good point:

"Have you sold your soul to the EA devil?"

This is the 'insult' that caused someone to lose access to a product for which they forked over legal currency. If anything the disgrace is that some people are trying to silence those who object to these measures.

If you read the EULA (that nobody does when installing games), BW/EA essentially reserves the right to ban you from ALL services, including the games themselves, for essentially anything. They've left the "offenses" list vague enough that they could likely be interpreted to include the most benign of behavior. In any legal action the burden of proof would be on the plaintiff, not BW. I wouldn't expect to see any kind of legal case being successful after the EULA was agreed to.

Is it an abuse of our trust as BW fans and consumers? Sure. Is it illegal? It should be, although it doesn't appear to be the case. All you can do is vote with your wallet. BW is like any company, they do what they do to make money. If they truly believed that their actions in this manner were costing them a significant portion of their player base, they'd reverse course in a heart beat.

Tread lightly my friends.

You're right, they've legally tried to cover their asses.

But we, as the consumers, retain the right to never give them any money and not pay their salaries.

Which I am doing, as of today.

Whatever, buddy, this isn't 300.

Your vote and that of the small minority of others aren't going to do diddly squat.

You will see attitudes like this at different sites all over the internet. That small minority is only getting bigger. I, for one, am thrilled to see gamers standing up for their rights.

You don't know what happened. You don't even know if the guy really can't play his games at all. Think about it rationally. You can still play Dragon Age Origins offline. You're not signing into the client.

You're wrong, I can't play DAO without my DLC being authorized every time I start the game.

I know that this is now about EA's policy more than about that one guy. A policy that needed to be brought into the light and discussed.

Dear Lady Dragoonlordz are you aware of the fact that "that guy" who "accused" Bioware/EA of suspending his account also stated that he also wasn't able to access his previously bought games and/or DLC? And are you aware of the EULA which shipped with DA:O which to my knowledge wasn't changed or Bioware/EA failed to inform us of this fact?

Those harsh steps which were taken against "that guy" are illegal in my book if not highly immorale and the DA:O EULA doesn't implie that EA/Bioware has the right to suspend accounts.

Someone insults you after giving you 60 dollars for something, so you should be allowed to keep that something away from them for as long as you want.

That's all I'm saying, because if you need more you are the worst kind of person.

You've done this sort of nonsense in other threads as well, shouting down anything short of outright praise. It's not the best way to represent the community you claim to care about.

There are a lot of people joining to voice opinions on this issue because this is more than just an inflammatory opinion on the game, it's a power play by EA that really DISGUSTS anyone with any bit of sense as a consumer.

Consider it a cherry on the top of the vitrol going back and forth about the actual game, and the scope is pretty impressive, which is why Bioware is likely laying out a proper plan to respond to at least some of this backlash.

I think you'll find it's the opposite, I have been very critical of Bioware with regard to their games.

The only ones currently that in my most recent posts is having a go at these non Bioware game players coming in here starting nothing more than personal vendettas against the concept of EULA and TOS should not fool you if you actually look back at my post history, which I advise before making such a comment please.

So you admit that this is going to happen then.

Because let's face it dear stanley, it is. This is the worst kind of PR for EA, and EA doesn't need more bad PR.

It might not be you, but someone is going to lose their head (and stock options) for this.

Maybe I am missing something. How did EA "TAKE AWAY" his ability to game? At worst, they delayed him activating his game. BioWare didn't break down his door and take back his copy. The guy in question posted a slightly rude comment. This was pretty dumb, but not ban worthy imo (yes, dumb. Try going into McDonalds and saying how the Big Mac is a piece of crap to each customer that comes in and see how long it takes the cops to show up.)

EA /BioWare shouldn't have banned him for this. But they didn't steal his game either.

There is a lot of righteous fury on here of people ****slapping EA and BioWare for ripping this guy off. He was banned 72 hours. He's probably already playing the game again after the ban wore off. They DELAYED him from playing because he broke their stupid rule.

And yeah, I'm new. I haven't bought DA2 yet as the reviews are mixed, so I came here to look into it. And in this thread I see a lot of EA/BioWare haters going off on a delay to some fool who spoke trash on a company website. I'm not sure who I care less about, BioWare/EA for bannign the guy for saying somethign so minor or the people here.

No, the sound of the "discussion never going anywhere" is everyone agreeing with EA's decision and ignoring what happened.  That's the discussion going nowhere.  People bringing up concerns about the unfairness of the fact that you can get banned from playing a singleplayer game you paid for, just for a forum post, is the discussion going where it should go.

In fact, those who call people trolls and ignore opinions based on join date, are the ones stifling discussion.

Let's say you bought DA2 and just as you were about to install it I took the DVD from the drive and the manual (the key is there) and ran. On my way out I scream "you can have it back in 72 hours".

How would you describe my act?

I don't understand if you were trying to go full circle with this or not, but it came across as kind of "english isn't my first language"-y.

But seriously, Bioware and EA are trying to sell this game as hard as they can, and your average customer is going to see "EA can and will make your game not work" and they won't buy.

A buy mans a new generation toyota car. He called them and told them "This is the crappiest car ever, it's like selling your soul to the devil except there're no benefits."

Toyota rages, takes the man car for 72 hours because it's in their TOS that if you insult us, you won't get to use it.

After 72 hours. Hey there, Toyota here. I know you could've used your car to go to the mall or pick up your kids for the last 3 days but because you insulted us we were really "forced" to take it. Here's your car back with no compensation and no apology.

Actions like this by game companies partly drive piracy of software

Sometimes they are their own worst enemy when it comes to being too harsh
