StanleyWoo I do agree that the extent of things going on are a bit much but I think it would calm down some with an official word from bioware on the matter... Just saying sometimes a little public relations helps ya know :)

This whole issue began after the office had closed, and dealing with it kept me at the office several hours later than I'd intended for today. As of this posting, it is 10:45pm. All I wanted was a "stay of execution" until tomorrow morning. Ah well, the internet...

So pick up a cellphone, call your boss, and get an official response. I've managed to get Admirals on the phone in a matter of minutes when I was only a little peon enlisted nuke, and I doubt it's remotely that hard to reach someone higher up your ladder. I think the potential for this to snowball is already being seen, as it's blowing up on quite a few sites.

They can't ban you if you don't speak out. Change your pic to a Volus to "voice" your displeasure.

That is very unfortunate. And I don't think anyone here would have wanted to put you through that- I think people were just looking for something other than "This is spam" or whatever else you were posting.

I sympathize with your frustration, I really do. But I would suggest that in the future, you simply tell the truth- it's closing time, there is no one here to answer your demands, if you remain patient and polite I will follow up tomorrow but if you continue to misbehave you'll just get banned/deleted.

I think all anyone wants is to be heard. Just acknowledge them. And go home!

Ahem ahem...mictest. A thread was opened asking the morality of bioware right? Forum moderator comes and then posts something, guess what he said?

For some reason, Stanley Woo thinks that my original post belongs here... go figure.

Ok stepping out of the forums and I can't help wonder...

Has there been so much negativity on ANY of these forums prior to DAII?

Was this the same reaction after ME2 was released?

Also, Bioware NEEDS to at least speak up and calm the fan base. No, not argue but instead give some form of assurance that the feedback is being heard and understood. Bioware can diffuse this situation by quickly addressing the issues presented with some form of communication rather than staying silent and just swinging the banhammer like crazy.

How to spot a troll

1. Does the person have ANY registered games on their account profile

2. Has the person signed up within the last 1-3 days?

3. On their profile when you click it, is there not a single postive post about Bioware or their game?

This is a disgrace, someone got banned by EA mind you for an insult, not a constructive thought. A flat out insult and they make the situation even worse. It was only for 72 hours but I personally am going to ask they remove the person for good from these fourms.

He has created a massive wave of Spam, Threats, Haressment on the fourms. He claims the game sucks so bad in some of his posts, but in others hes complaining because he can't play. Kinda a double standred if you ask me. He is blowing his nerd rage, clearly he has some issues. I suggest we just ignore them. The worst thing they can hear is silence.

Here's what the voice of reason sounds like. Follow this music, sheeple.

Someone insults you after giving you 60 dollars for something, so you should be allowed to keep that something away from them for as long as you want.

That's all I'm saying, because if you need more you are the worst kind of person.

Yeah....I recommend you try that on a street corner somewhere.  See, for anything not covered by a legal document (and even then, it's been struck down in certain instances) repossessing a product that has been legally paid for is called theft.  There is no "but he called me a bad name" clause in our legal system.  At least not in this country (USA).  That's why companies use EULA's.  They write their own and hope no one challenges them on it.

It saddens me that there are people who legitimately believe there is such a thing as "justifiable burglary due to potty mouth."

Even if what he claims is true lets face the facts, he was "suspended" not banned, they didn't take away his games never to be returned. This is like I said some outsiders causing trouble, while managing to lure in a few regular forum members into the debate by ever increasing the range of the arguement from such things as indivdual case to now war on EULAs. IF you feel wronged by a EULA by all means seek legal advise or try ot get it overturned if the issue is THAT important to you, but don't come here trying to enrage others to join your cuase.

Hmm. That is fair enough but good luck trying to get a bunch of angry gamers on the net to calm down until an official statement is made :(

This is reprehensible.

I have been a loyal fan since BG1 and have defended DA2. But this is completely unethical.

You really think that a video game demands that type of attention?  Really?

I hope Stanley went home.  And left his bosses in peace.  Is this a serious issue?  Sure.  Is it serious enough to call your BOSS and DEMAND he get on the forums right now???  When he could just look at it tomorrow?  Come on.

I think things were handled poorly on both sides.  If a Bioware rep would have posted that the office was closing and that they would look into it tomorrow, I don't think things would have escalated to this point.

But to compare a video game ban to calling generals...get a life people.

The guy should ask for a refund, the game is a rushed pos anyway. It would be a waste of time to play it.

be fair this is EA-s fault, although I would also want to see an official Bioware comment on the issue, one that is actually about the topic

Bioware is being a bit childish about this whole thing. It's one thing to ban people for blatently trolling, it's quite another to ban someone because they don't like your newest game.

I recently bought Dragon Age II for the Xbox 360. After reading of this individual being barred from playing EA titles over his opinion of the company, I am seriously re-evaluating ever purchasing an EA product again, if this is true. I refuse to support a company that practices the banning --or suspension in any form-- of users from playing their fairly bought titles, especially for something such as voicing distaste.

Those that are so staunchly defending such a despicable practice, you should be ashamed of yourselves for supplying power to a company that can't be trusted to fairly treat its own customers with simple freedom to enjoy the products they own.

If you read the EULA (that nobody does when installing games), BW/EA essentially reserves the right to ban you from ALL services, including the games themselves, for essentially anything. They've left the "offenses" list vague enough that they could likely be interpreted to include the most benign of behavior. In any legal action the burden of proof would be on the plaintiff, not BW. I wouldn't expect to see any kind of legal case being successful after the EULA was agreed to.

Is it an abuse of our trust as BW fans and consumers? Sure. Is it illegal? It should be, although it doesn't appear to be the case. All you can do is vote with your wallet. BW is like any company, they do what they do to make money. If they truly believed that their actions in this manner were costing them a significant portion of their player base, they'd reverse course in a heart beat.

Tread lightly my friends.

You're right, they've legally tried to cover their asses.

But we, as the consumers, retain the right to never give them any money and not pay their salaries.

Which I am doing, as of today.

Whatever, buddy, this isn't 300.

Your vote and that of the small minority of others aren't going to do diddly squat.

You will see attitudes like this at different sites all over the internet. That small minority is only getting bigger. I, for one, am thrilled to see gamers standing up for their rights.

I like "minoritys"! I am one of them, too. :o   :P

Forum ban fine, but not able to play your payed game? Outrages!

We're not causing grief, we're raising awareness. It's ok, it's a common mistake.

Your raising awareness of something thats been around for years that hasn't changed? Do you want a pat on the back or a cookie? Any company can ban you from using their products whether its games, music or movies discs. Specifically any of them which use a EULA which is thousends of companies. Regardless of legal or illegal if you personaly are affected by it, then by all means go to court get it overturned, people claim its illegal it canbe overturned so what exactly are you raising awareness of? .. Nothing that hasn't existed for  many, many years. The only difference now is all of sudden a million new accounts pop up on Bioware forums claiming to fight for justice for a. a person who doesn't seek it himself and b. had no proof of why he got banned in reality.

Your argument seems to be: "Entertainment companies have been screwing customers for years, why are you now getting upset about it?".

LOL, you're right, it has been going on for years but people are tolerant and tend to put up with BS for a while before they fight back. The fight has now begun though.

but what are we going to do to fight ?
