But you sibling will return ONLY (i thing) if you make them a grey warden which involves taking them to the deep roads expedition with Anders in you party.

Wait wait wait, if Anders had been in my party there would have been option to turn my sibling into a Grey Warden?

Yes, you need Anders in your party who will make them a grey warden and will make them return as a permanent companion during the final act of the game.

Thats not entirely true your sibling will return several times in the final act if you didn't take them too the deep roads. Caver will go off and join the Templars, and Bethany will be dragged off too the Circle by the Templars. Yes though having Anders in your party is the only way for your brother/sister to become a Grey Warden and survive the deep roads.

Well I'll be. If I had known that I would have brought Anders with me. I had brought Bethany with me and she asked me to kill her

If Bethany gets turned into a Grey Warden, she returns as a PERMANENT squadmate for the ENTIRETY of Act 3?
Because if that's the case, I don't mind losing her during Act 2. I WANT MY LITTLE SISTER BACK.

So let me get this PERFECTLY straight, cause I know Bethany can survive if you bring Anders as the third squaddie for the expedition.

No, just the climax after the whole Anders incident.

Yeah, I liked Bethany more than any of my other companions. A for emotional impact, Bioware, F for taking my favorite companion away so early.
True. Rare to see a good sibling dynamic in a western RPG. On top of that, it was really cool to have a mage that you leveled from the very start. Mages are WAY more dependent on abilitities than other classes, and it was handy to have pretty much complete control over the whole thing. I made Bethany a monstrosity of elemental asswhupping with a light dash of healing thrown in. Anders shaped up to be a pretty decent character (gameplay wise), but it took many levels (and some careful consideraion when picking spells) to make him that way. I accidentally killed off bethany on the first time through, so I reloaded a save and didn't bring her. When I found out that she was forced into the circle, I was livid. Still. Glad I got to play with her for the final climax of the game. Leveled up to 22, she's pretty bloody ridiculous. I also got do do what I'd wanted to do with all of my other mages, and dump like 20 points into willpower, so she didn't actually need a lyrium potion every nine seconds.

Im not sure if you can save your mother. in act 2, when you go to dupris estate and find him, he tells you that he will be in darktown and to find if if you find any information about the killer. This may be an indication that you can do some sidequest that will lead to you finding the bloodmage sooner than expected, stopping him from killing your mother. And as for Bethany, no. Once shes in the circle shes stuck there until the end of act 3. But hey, look on the brightside. Its better than when you take her into the deeproads and she dies. At least here shes alive.
Thats what I was trying to say about saving the mom just picked the wrong locale. WHen you chase down the "blood mage" vigilante, if you kill him there is a room in the center of the house that has a REALLY sickly powerful blood mage in it. I thought if you killed the guy in the center room then you can save mom. I can't recall if the name was the same or not.
