It seems that D2D will begin preloading Nov. 1st. I got this in an email:

Dear Dragon Age Preorder Customer
Great News! Direct2Drive is proud to provide you our Preload Service to your Dragon Age preorder purchase.  That’s right, on Sunday November 1st  10AM (48hrs prior to launch) ,you will be able to preload your Dragon Age file and not have to wait to download your file on launch day, November 3rd  10AM.  Just play!
Keep your eyes open for the Notification email on Sunday November 1st.  We’ll let you know when it’s time to come grab your file.  We don’t want you to miss a moment of this exciting opportunity to be ready to play Dragon Age!
