I'm the kind that stops when I enter into a new area and looks around for a few minutes just to see the art and graphics of the particular land.
But I'm older. I picture this kid as young and full of energy - bouncing off the walls. It's fun for him to see those acheivments add up and let everyone know "I'm done!". And that's fine.

Any RPG with less than 50 hours of solid content is a flat-out ripoff. Especially at $60
There is no such thing as an RPG with 50 hours of solid content.

People make too much of game length. Ask not how long a game is ask how long a game is without fetch quest, filler combat, cut scenes, and long winded monologues. If the game is 10 hours without that stuff its good enough for me and beats 60 hours with it. I dont want to play an RPG that cant be beaten in 15 hours.
Then dont play RPGs. Play FPS games instead. I suppose you never liked Baldur's Gate, Morrowind, or Oblivion.
You would be surprised.
Take a look at some of the speedruns at speeddemos archives. Morrowind can be beaten in five minutes, BG 20 hours, Fallout 8 minutes, Oblivion 2 hours, BG 2 25 hours. However the slowest game of them all might be DA:O at 35 hours.
Sandbox RPGs are a little different. I can spend 10 hours just dicking around in Oblivion. Most RPGs lack that level of simulation AI, exploring and stuff like that so they stretch their length DA:O style with fetch quest, filler combat, and cut scenes. If you took that crap out of DA:O it would be shorter than BG. So I stand by my claim. I didnt like DA:O and its the slowest game I listed by 10 hours.

You didn't have to do every side quest in Dragon Age: Origins to get the most out of the game.ErebUs890 wrote...
Tip: Do the side quests.
Agreed to get the most out of DA:O you should avoid the boring side quest. Most of them were really stale.

Agreed! I think a lot of their customer base got burned out by all the painfully boring side quests in DAO and made little to no progress in the game. It makes a lot of good sense that they would tighten things up a lot (although, there is no good excuse for reusing the same 3 maps over and over... bleh).Dorian the Monk of Sune wrote...

But now I digress. for anyone who has played this, i sincerely do hope you found some joy in it like myself, unfortunately, i bought the game and beat it over night... not even. my first playthrough was as a warrior and i beat the game doing all but the herbalist guy's quests, and still watching all of the scenes; all under 15 hours, and it was on normal. My second playthough was with a mage and i completed every side quest and just watched all out the companion scenes and all the others that made me feel more connected to my character.... after my last save once in my mansion after the credits, my playtime was just under 11 hours. then again, after the first act i memorized all of the maps.... made everything way too easy.
i could go on and on about what needs to be done and what should have been done for DA2, but who from bioware really cares what someone who can utterly crush their 30-40 hours (which was a joke) and still notice things that should/should not have happend? Atleast in DA:O and DA:A I was fortunate enough to get in 25-30 hours of combined gameplay. Still, expect many DLCs for the continuation of DA2. Oh!! And can I get an AMEN for New game +s? I mean, honestly, everygame BUT your newest game get NG+?
Enough ranting for me now... but still, an EPIC idea/story/franchise/company/ should be able to dish out something, atleast close to, EPIC for the fans. Not this mediocre version (which more closely resembles a beta of the real DA2) that isnt entirely worth $60. Satisfy out hunger for amazing gameplay/story/characters/and maps!!! I have faith still, but faith doesn't keep me thoroughly entertained. Be the company I know you are Bioware, and make games the way I know you can. :innocent:
Still, made me want to get back to Oblivion or Fallout and pour more endless hours into them.
Heheh, Oblivion's main guest line took me 4 hours, the rest of the game (including DLCs) drug the rest of the content out to an amazing 102 hours.... i like to go spelunking. ... and waterfall diving.
Time for me to go.

People here are seriously skipping sidequests/dialogue.
Hint: A lot of the side quests are scattered around the world. Not all of the sidequests are brought on a plate right on to your face.

What is the point of doing that man, seriously dont you want to play for ages, i dont understand the need to rush and like i said just doing the main thread is not really completing it is it? Dont you want the maximun amount of enjoyment from a game? you a missing soooooooooooo much goodness by skiping all that stuff, and if you are not into it why oh why did you buy the game?
