ME3 is going to be a huge disappointment, I think. In fact, I already canceled my pre-order.
Really, I don't know why anybody even has a pre-order at this point. No reason to bother until they actually announce what editions of the game there will be.
All that anybody is doing is giving gamestop $5 with literally no interest that they have to pay back for 6-8 months. (multiply that by the thousands of pre-orders for each game coming this fall).

I would hope for EA to simply stop existing, but then Activision would have free reign and they arn't any better. Until DA2 I thought Activision was much worse but EA is catching up again. Both of these super publishers need a change of management or simple gtfo before the whole industry collapses into it's own soulless, heartless zombie labour. Publishers are leeching the life from developers and pissing off more and more customers. The bucket is full. Only a few more drops....
The collapse is pretty much inevitable now. Gamer fatigue's set in, they've alienated tons of people with genre-shifting and essentially telling customers "No, we don't care about you anymore, we want the Mass Market!". Sales in January 2011 were down almost 20% from 2009, despite the recession being alot worse then.
It's going to play out like this: Gaming will shift back to the PC again, as it's a constant repetitive cycle that goes about 7-8 years it seems. EA, Activision, Atari, Zenimax, will end up bellying up as they're way too invested in making carbon copy games. Digital distribution will take over as well, further hastening their demise. New studios will arise no longer dependent on publishers for suvival.
The way this works out is actually already outlined. Gaming's doing the same thing Hollywood did. We're somewhere in the 50's era phase right now, with "B movie games" left and right riding the latest bandwagon and failing to diversify. We'll soon hit that market crash, which will push us into the 70's/80's style where games start finding their feet and becoming real works. Steam, Microsoft, and their inevitable kin will be the equivalent of today's big name studios(Fox, Paramount), development houses will be like Pixar, Dreamworks.
We've got one more big one coming, judging from the numbers over the last year, I'd venture we're only about 12-24 months out now. Zenimax will be the first to go, EA shortly after. Atari's already essentially dead, and Activision will stave off death a bit longer due to WoW and Blizzard.

"We're already working on 'Mass Effect 3' right now. We do want to develop it in concert with listening to the way people are experiencing 'Mass Effect 2'. We've got a lot of DLC coming out for 'Mass Effect 2' that we're also working on, and then we'll kind of blend that into developing and finishing 'Mass Effect 3'. We don't want to take forever with it. We want people to be able to conclude this trilogy that have been with us over the years... [Development will be] along the same kind of time frame as 'Mass Effect 2'." - Hudson

It seems that Bioware has learned very well how to lie to his customers...
Maybe I am wrong but I can remeber easily:
-) ME2 an PC/Xbox exclusive
-) Priestly Fake post about PS3 shortage of ME2;
-) EA about ME2 on PS3 being a sales success;
-) DA2 to be an rpg like the first one...
-) Self made reviews on metacritic
The truth is: ME2 has been released on Jannuary 2010.
In the meanwhile they have some DLC (another one is next to be released) and the PS3 port.
Now they have to develop a game on 3 different system in less than 2 year.
The only way to do that is that ME3 will be "ME2 second part": everything will remain the same (minus planet scanning I think).
This will means to me only one thing: no more day1 no more collector/limited edition: I will take ME3 only when it will become super discounted.
I foreseen that ME3 will sold less than 2 that has sold less than 1.
This is a HUGE failure Bioware
Um, both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 1 sold 1.6 million copies each. Also lol at the continuing rage that PS3 owners got to play ME2. Greedy little guy, arentcha?
If you think that all the people have your age and mind you are wrong... I have played ME1+2 on PC.
Anyway if we want to talk about sales, let's do it!
When ME1 was released the user base of Xbox was faaaarrrr inferior.
ME1 is alsoon sales via download for a looong time now... The sales data you see are not counting the on-line revenue.
The truth is that ME2 sold less, far less if you consider the user base amount!!!
But as a gamer I really do not care about the sales data...
Simply to me (and many other outside this bioware fanboy forum & game juvanile journalism) found ME2 a pale shadow of ME1.
