Absolutely LOVE Dragon Age 2! Not too far into it (still within the first year), but am greatly enjoying the characters (I'm surprised by how much I like Aveline - I thought she was going to be another stoic, un-talkative character, but they've given her depth and layers - not a caricature at all!), the immediacy of the plot (things are always happening), morally challening dialogue choices (do you execute a man who may be mentally ill for atrocaties he's commited?), and the combat (ANYONE who thinks there is no tactical skill/planning/micro-managing involved has not gotten to the Deep Roads on Hard yet).
Great job Bioware! (Ooooh, love the characters' voices too - go Kate Mulgrew!!!)
So who is actually ENJOYING this game?

I enjoy the game, but it is just not as great, as it could have been.

This is probably going to be blasphemy, but I think I liked it better than Origins. The story had a slow start, but it had a heck of an ending, and I thought that all the party members were great. Really, really enjoyed it.
So far i agree. I just got Fenris and thought that he is very cool and has a nice backstory (i mean, a sad one). Varric is funny as hell.

I'm enjoying the game.
I must admit, though, that the intial shock that this wasn't even close to the same game as DA:O threw me off a bit. I was really ready to sit down and play a bit of a RPG style game.
But, to give it a fair shake, after I realized it was like a "new" game I started playing it with that mindset. I just let go of the preconceived notions of what I wanted the game to be and took it for what it was.
Now I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Do I still have an itch to play a great RPG right now? Sure. But I'll wait 'till one comes out and pick it up. Until then I'm going to play DA2 and enjoy it along the way.
DA:O part 2 - it's not. But it seems like a solid stand alone game so far. I'd give it an 8 (but not in the RPG catagory).

another great way too look at it is dao and da2 are completely seperate games and they didnt even try and make it like dao so if you look at them as 2 complete seperate games then people will relize its a great game on its own.

I love this game. I loved DAO, and I love this one too. It has a great feel to the game, no anime' jumping around with cute little girls here, it's pure AD&D (I don't care whether you think it's true AD&D or not so take your criticisms to the park and feed them to the ducks).

Loving this game. I've a few complaints but nothing close to the vitriol I've seen here.

I have played 21 hours in 2 days... although I haven't finish the game yet but I know I will replay this game at least 3 or 4 times...
What I really like about DA2 is the story! I like the way that I am not just thrown into some epic quest to save the world at the beginning, and instead I am just a lowly refugee trying to survive in a big city. The story is so well told and the script writing is great, the world in Kirkwall is much similar to our world, the story covers issues such as: racism, immigration, assimlation, poverty, bigotry, greed and political intrigues. Where a lot of times the choices you make are morally ambiguous and have impacts later on.
The charaters are memorable and well designed.
The biggest problems with DA2 is probably the re-used dungeons and the removal of the ability to equip different armors on your campanions. Otherwise, I think DA2 is a lot better than DAO in many aspects.

I'm loving it.....it's everything I wanted and more the only thing I don't like is I can't just talk to my party. The only conversations you really have with them are quest related.

I'm enjoying it just fine. I knew I couldn't compare it to DA:O because that game was important for me, as one of the best I've ever played. Then I played ME1, and DA:O went to #2. Then ME2, and DA:O went to #3, as ME2 is now my favorite.
Will DAII be the new favorite? Well, I learned that the game I'm playing, if I'm enjoying it thoroughly, is my favorite. I learned not to compare them, but to take them on their own merits.
DAII has much going for it. Nope, it's not DA:O, but the devs all along were up front that it wouldn't be. There are many stories to tell in Thedas; this is one. And after ME3 is finished, I'll be looking forward to playing someone else's story in the ME universe.
But as Merrill says, "I'm babbling again. Let's go."

I guarantee that the discontented elitists and the misinformed bandwagon-riding prepubescents are in the minority. If everyone who'd played DA2 pinned a review on Metacritic the score would be significantly higher.

On he party equipment I'm glade they got rid of it. Makes for more room in my invitorys not having to hold 3 massive 2 leather and cloth gear. Waiting for thepeople to meet the requirements. Also was it just me or if you where a warrior alister and set just ended up using your hammy downs.

It isn't the best work Bioware has ever done. It isn't the worst - NWN draws that honour. I like most of the changes have really helped or not bothered me. I want the auto-attacks back for the console but other than that this is a solid 85-ish game experience through where I am in the game.
My biggest gripe right now is that I'm not feeling connected to the story. The "Framed Narrative" hasn't really made much difference once I cleared Lothering. I get plopped into a city with a myriad of fairly unconnected minor/recruitment quests and it is playing out just like DAO would have with the raft of chanters board/mages guild/mercinary side missions but no real "main" story quests. I said elsewhere it sort of feels like BG2 did when you were scrounging up cash for the Imoen rescue and you were also in minor quest land.

I'm taking it for what it is, and enjoying it in that regard. Though I have to admit, going into the third act the story is really starting to feel rather stale, at least in my opinion.

I did at first, but no longer.
Paused it for now (during the expedition, and 2 characters just before it).
The last straw was the boss fight against the Rock Wraith, the huge one; I'm actually still on it, but haven't alt+tabbed back to it in hours (its half dead, my party is all alive and doing well, but its so horribly boring that I don't want to finish it).

I enjoy it thoroughly so far, DA1 was nice, but not nice enough to finish Awakenings. :/
DA2 just has so much more enjoyable combat. Combat that unavoidable evil in great crpgs...oh wait...forgot Torment.

I just finished the game, honest it was pretty much "meh" until about half way through. The ending however....definitely worth it. I still don't think it was as good as origins. But overall I really enjoyed it. About to play through it again.
