Specific likes:
1. the revised character creator. Much better than DAO, Awakening, ME or ME2. My characters in game look as good as they did in the creator. Male and female models are much improved, and the icing on this cake is the "family resemblence" system.
2. the abilities nodes that let you take various paths, add upgrades or more abilities etc.
This really opened up the "role" in rpg for me.
3. The balance between the 2 Rogue types, the 2 warrior types and the mage. I can play all of them with reasonable success -- not so (at least for me) with DAO/Awakening, where the only viable one for me was a rogue DW
4.The overall role play - which is so different from the traditional grind xp and loot, loot loot in order to create "hero to save the world from Great Evil" into a more psychological and interpersonal relationship role play. This is the reason I really love this game (and many hate it!)... it matters what and how you speak to your mates, what role you play, and the attitudes you have.toward Mages, the Chantry, Templars, gypsys tramps 'n thieves... I find this much more interesting - guess I was burned out on tradition. (applauds Bioware for their nerve to try this)

This game is fun. Not perfect - just FUN.

I'm already on my second playthrough. It's a good game but there are a few things I wish were better.

I personally enjoyed it and couldn't stop playing it for a couple of days. The various flaws and such never really bothered me because I was quite taken with the rest of the game.

Enjoyment is all that really matters, after all.

Hawke is way cooler than the warden or shepard, he has much more of a character.

I am enjoying this game at least as much as Dragon Age: Origins, and the combat in particular is especially fun. Nice environments, great voice acting, and an interesting story.

Only thing I'm not enjoying? All of the tears on this forum flooding my basement

I absolutely love it, flaws and all. It is not perfect. But neither was DAO.

I'm loving it. May not be as good as DA:O but it is still on amazing game. Right now I just started my 2nd playthourgh as a sarcastic female mage.

Not reading the whole thread, just making a quick stop to say that so far (part way into Act 2), I am loving this game. =) I love the companions, the story, the art, the combat. I have had a few tech issues, but not enough to detract from the game. Especially since the Beta Patch fixed them.

I had a blast up till mid act 2 then the game felt like a chore to me, then I just wanted to finish it up to see the ending.

I'm enjoying the combat very much which helps me overlook some of the other things, unfortunately I still have not completed the game :). I also like the way it appears as though my dialogue choices start to create a personality for Hawke. However, I'm not sure if I am imagining that the dialogue choices matter or not. My previous sentence may need a bit of clarification: Well, If I choose primarily sarcastic remarks at the start of certain scenes Hawke starts off as sarcastic (unconfirmed).

I love playing a Mage+++

Im loving DA 2, its really fun and keeps me playing for another '10 minutes' when I should have turned it off 1/2 hour ago.

The only problems I have at all with the game is Warriors not getting Cool animations or finishing moves like they did in DAO, though I noticed Rogues and Mages have some sweet movies, sad Warriors got shafted.

Also the same enviroments (caves, and houses) being reused so much.

Other then that, this game is great and the writing is bioware standard for excellence. I think people just whine too much.

I was entertained by it and it was better then the average game but this is bioware I expected to be raving about this for weeks and declaring it my new favorite rpg. I hope that EA gives bioware more time for DA 3 and find out what they did wrong in DA 2 and DA:O and combine the best parts of them but I have a feeling the franchise will slip further with EA's a game a year heading.

I love it. Im currently crying because I have to play back through origins to get alistair to be king instead of a drunkard. Origins is PAINFUL!!!!

Absolutely LOVE Dragon Age 2, I use the party combination of myself as a daul wield rogue, Verric with <3 Bianca <3 owning from a far. - Isabela daul wielding with different specs than Hawke but some of the same to max the damage output, and Anders specced with some heavy damage spells, with Vengence+Wrath, along with the Healing mode with Revive and Group heal... This eliminates my need for a tank even on Nightmare difficulty (but I play on Hard, nightmare just during the real easy fights of carta members, or darkspawn etc) - Anders Rocks 10 times as much as he did in DA:O Awakenings, Hawke is brilliant, Isabella is the sexiest character in Bioware history (beats morrigan) and Verric is a dwarf I actually enjoy being with (Didn't have a taste for oghren).

I have 46 hours logged in the game, and I have just 2 main plots left, did all the sidequests and chant boards along with the more "Hidden quests" also farmed for herbs, made lots of potions etc. thus so much time invested prior to Act 3 starting, and made sure to get my party all to 100% friendship. Isabella is 100% and my romance target, Anders is 100% and kissed me o.O came over at night and I told him "Im not ready" he stormed out without losing any friendship, no rivarly increase that I worried about. and My fun story telling Dorffy is at 100% friendship. All there gear is maxed to what it can be at the end of Act 2.

While I have not beaten it yet (I should in the next 2 days or so for sure.) I can honestly say while it is different than Origins (Which is my fave RPG of all time) and doesn't have the same EPIC scope, it has a much more personal and political scope, thus my 10/10 for Origins as its my fave RPG
^ Makes me feel DA2 deserves anywhere between a 9.0-9.5 and by the time I am done perhaps even a 10/10 and place it DIRECTLY below Origins by a very small mark, as I am in love with the game, DX11+hi res pack graphics, soundtrack, voices, Story/Plot Changes, AMAZING COMBAT! Yes we all miss the full zoom out, but this feels right for this game, so thats fine with me!

I believe Dragon Age 2 is the PERFECT SEQUEL. to "dragon age" but not the perfect sequel to "Origins". I believe Dragon Age Origins 2 would have been a different game than Dragon Age 2 which is a sequel in Thedas, just not feraledan. - If they made an origins 2 I would expect it to be the next Blight.

That may not make sense and I PREFER that they did not do it that way, Maybe Dragon Age 3 will have another Arch Demon, thats up to them - but for the second game in what seems to become a trilogy, NOT HAVING a BLIGHT and an EPIC END DRAGON FIGHT actually REALLY works. It is different, it innovates in many ways and takes a lot of DARING choices - Kudos to Bioware, not everyone loves it, but...

I love it to death, and if you guys saw the news it made history for being one of the top 10 highest pre-order games of all times. It is #1 on the UK charts (360 edition), #1 on the us PC charts, people past few days bashed saying it wasnt going to sell due to the metacritic trolls, but BOOM We know better.

<3 bioware. <3 dragon age <3 DA2.

Now I wouldn't say I hated this game. Like everyone else, I was hooked and didn't mind all the flaws. I was starting to get into the story by Act 3. But then it ended so abruptly, and my choice didn't matter in the end. That I became disappointed with the game.

Without giving anything away (if possible), why didn't the choice matter? I just started Act 3 myself.

Choose a side, go ahead.

But in the end, each side is power hungry and crazy.

I really like the game, my only gripe is the re-use of environments, but it hasn't been enough to make me stop playing as the story and combat have been enthralling me:-)

cheers,

I'm enjoying it, though not as much as DA:O. I play on hard pausing frequently, and I find playing this way the combat is not that different from DA:O, although the encounters are all kinda samey. Love the story and characters.

Im enjoying it very much. Im taking my time and did not burn through it in 2 hours. I think the changes are okay and i''ve gotten used to them. In the end this game feels like Dragon Age and that is what matters and the few, what i consider small changes, do not retract from that, but im not done with it so im yet to give my full critique of it.

Not me. I preferred the more RTS-Combat of Origins, this new combat sucks. It's almost impossible to Strategically and Tacticaly place your party due to enemies spawning outta thin air. I would much rather have tougher and more realistically portrayed battles, than the almost frenetic, blood drenched slaughter that DAII calls combat.
