I am indeed ENJOYING DA2, not as much as I ENJOYED, DAO, but still ENJOYING it.

;)

I'm in the same boat. Tis no DA:O, but it is keeping me pleasantly preoccupied.

Finished my first playthrough, and I have to say that I enjoyed it quite a bit more than the first game -- Planescape: Torment it isn't, but I love how chatty the companions have become, how they bicker amongst themselves and comment on the environment rather than just blindly following me through everything without batting an eyelash. It makes the world feel more alive, and the companions as well; I don't agree with those who consider them less engaging or memorable than those in DA:O.

The game is alright. I only really started having fun when I made my Character a Archer Rogue. The story is good though.. I just wished Deus Ex:HR wasn't delayed so I'd be playing that instead... :(

I've been waiting for this game for a long time - and I think it was totally worth waiting for! Unlike some other gamers on this forum I enjoy the... well, intimacy of the storyline. It's not about Armies of Darkness, Knights in Shining Armors and Saving the World - first and foremost, IMHO, it's the story of one family of Ferelden refugees, starting a new life and trying to survive. I loved side stories that made me feel like a "private eye" or something like that. I enjoy visiting my party members at their places and talking to them, waiting for a new quest or romance option. Music... Maker's breath, it's wonderful! Graphics and the way me and my companions move and fight - It's also beyond compare! Looking forward to complete the game and play it one more time. And once more... And... Well, you've got it, right?

I'm enjoying it quite a fair bit. I was dissapointed not being able to do warrior DW, but my Dualist/Assassin rogue is slicing through everything at the moment. Mark of Death + Throw the Gauntlet + Assassinate is Insta-death in most cases.

If I had one complaint it would be the re-use of areas. I can understand maybe returning to one or two areas on occasion... but 5-6 times is a little cheap in this day and age of gaming. This is one the most abused games when it comes to reusing maps.

Aside from that, it's great.

I'm watching the youtube walkthrough instead of buying after I read a forum person was banned and couldn't play his games that were attached to Bioware. You payz your money and lose your games.

lol well have fun with that then ;)

Yep, it's a fantastic game - 9/10. The only fault I see is the recycled areas and lack of exploration and travel around the Free Marches.

I also loved DAO. Can't understand all of the hate for DA2.

K im 17 hours into act1 on hard, yes I know im slow lol! Im loving it,I like the fact that the prologue seems so far away now and that feeling of being small in a world that you cant control. Some of the copy and paste caves are annoying but the other thing I had an issue with was the limited responses of Hawke but it seems to be changing now so I hope it stays that way.Im loving the characters as well.I totally understand where the critics and negativity are coming from but as I said before one man' thrash is another's treasure:)

Yes am definitely enjoying DA2.

Though the story doesn't grab you or give you the same emotional involvement that DAO did (nor anything like the same quality of dialogue), there are so many improvements that make it a pleasure to play imo. Love the improved skill system, combat, interface and smart streamlining, such as the way you can immediately see where quests are on the map and go straight to them (and also appreciate the little improvements like seeing who is injured without having to open the character menus to find out etc).

Might post a mini-review when I get time.

Archery play in this game is way better origins,my.I use it on my rogue for stealth pulling and its a useful too for keeping alive but I wish the quick weapon swap was still there. The removal of arrow types is annoying as well but Im still loving it.

Love the game. I do not understand the criticism of DA2 compared to DA:O. I fully enjoyed both games but find that most caveats with DA:O have been fixed in DA2. In addition at least I find the DA2 story to be much stronger.

If I have a gripe it would be a slight overuse of some maps for several quests (no biggy for me though since it is the story that keeps me going).

I think the fact that I got the game late on Friday and as of Monday night I had managed to play 28 solid hours testifies to how much I am enjoying this game.

Yes there are some things that dont work quite as well as they could, or could be improved. But no game is perfect, and taken on its own merits, I think DA2 is a masterpiece.

Bring on the DLC and DA3, DA4 etc.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
The game is beautiful with hi-res textures and my 5870HD, the combats are sure messy but the number of AOE damages available to the party is consistent with the spawn waves of adversaries. In my opinion, at least in hard difficulty mode, combat is tactical but not in the way gamers are used to it.
Finally, I like the art direction : costumes are great, monsters also and the surroundings (Kirkwall sure but the rest too) is really good looking.
But : It's disappointing that areas have been so blattantely copypasted and it feels very linear. It's IMO proof that DA2 has been rushed. That and the VO where actors are sometimes very good and sometimes less so... It feels like there was a lack of rehearsals ?
I'm guessing EA/Bioware attempted to change the organisation of their work and maybe some parts were underestimated.
I didn't finish the game yet but I'm very much in favor of a DA3 reusing assets from DA2 and adding a lot of new ones in order to create more interesting levels. Frankly, with the high res textures, the game feels beautiful on PC and I don't need a better graphic engine (for at least 3 years) for a RPG.

Not me. I preferred the more RTS-Combat of Origins, this new combat sucks. It's almost impossible to Strategically and Tacticaly place your party due to enemies spawning outta thin air. I would much rather have tougher and more realistically portrayed battles, than the almost frenetic, blood drenched slaughter that DAII calls combat.

The enemies generally spawn in a circle around the trigger point of the encounter.  What I've been doing is ordering my party to hold position while I go ahead by myself and as soon as I'm attacked, run back to my party.  This means all the respawns are going to come from the same direction so you can arrange your party tactically.  It also makes it easier to AOE them.

I'm enjoying it. It's not without it's flaws, but then I felt much the same about DA:O.  I think it's better than the first, but there are the odd things in the game that sort of make me think 'why did they do that?', but it's still a fun game and I like some of the characters.

Me. Except for the re-used areas. That is the biggest flaw of this game. Not quite up to the usual Bioware quality.
