I think its more that he wants to hear from the people who enjoy the game, or at least a fair and well thought out review that isnt "OMG IT SUX ITS THE END OF THE RPG AS WE NO IT."

If he wants a fair review, he would not ignore about 50% (if you trust the poll here) reviews which do not mach his expectations/own feelings.

If you want to inform yourself about something you listen to both sides. Just wanting to hear one side means that you are not seeking informaction but want your own opinion reinforced by others.

Isnt that exactly what this person is doing though? The board is filled with negative reviews all around by first time poster who registered extremely recently, and often with a troll-like manner. This person enjoyed the game and is looking for like minded individuals to discuss the game and all its faluts/achievements within this viewpoint without being insulted by someone with a difference in opinion.

Besides the few "fair" negative reviews are drowned out by overly negative elitists, trolls, and overly positive fanboys.

I already listened to the spewing crapola for the past day. If you read my post you would see that it says I have heard it all. I don't need to hear anymore rubbish. For 70% was just a bunch of ****ing, immaturity and excuses from people who didn't even play the game yet.

As I said. You don't like what many other people think so you seek out like minded people.
And that is ok. Just don't pretend that you want reviews about this game. Be honest with your intentions.

I am.
It's short however and that part makes me depressed compared to Dragon Age Origins, it's the only disappointing part of the game...
I hate it.
I love the game though.
Get out, you troll.

How long did it take you to beat the game? I did enjoy the many hours of gameplay in DA but it took me months to beat lol

Around 20 hours or so.
Maybe fifteen.
On my second playthrough right now and I'm at seven hours. Decent time, I suppose.

omg that's it?? WOW! Do you do every quest and search for all the items? I would be sad if i beat this game in 20 hours lol. I am kinda slow when playing games but it does have a much faster pace to it. So it will probably end quick even for me. I ranked up 100 hours in the last game lol That is a lot of time out of my life lol. But it was worth it.

I completed a majority in the ifrst act of questlines, but I pretty much powered through the second and third. That's where I didn't complete the content. XD
Niiice, 100 hours is still good fun. :)

I am really enjoying the game so far. I can already tell that Hawke will have to make some hard choices and some companions are going to hate Hawke no matter what. It's going to be tough because I like them all.

I will reserve final judgement until I finish the game, but I can already tell it's money well spent.

Also, to put the length into context, Fallout can be completed in 9 minutes. Completion time seems to vary wildly, I remember Resident Evil took me and my friend about 13 hours to complete when we first played it as kids - but I seem to remember certain unlocks occurring if you completed it in under 2. I went on to be able to complete RE2 in about 1 hour 50.

I am enjoying talking to others who enjoyed the game and had some issues with it but are not acting like a fool like you. Now begon with you. The game is good, nothing great what i normally get from Bioware but it's better then most of the stuff that hits the market.

They really didn't take their time with the game, what really shrugged me the wrong way is the unbelievable reuse of caves/rooms and the promise that Kirkwall would change in the 10 years (7 years really). Apart from NPC standing in a different place there was no change, pff.

And reviews which match your own opinion, otherwise you would not ignore the negative ones.
Or do you want to say that all negative reviews are childish/trollish and thus have no value? And what about the childish positive "fanboy" reviews?

I've played about 24 hours of it since Tuesday (a mage on Nightmare, I'm barely past level 9, not even out of the first act), sacrificing sleep to do it, so I'd say I probably like it.

I can't think of much to complain about. The iso camera doesn't go as far back. There's an abrupt jump of a year right after you get to Kirkwall. Otherwise, I'd say everything else is equal to or better than Origins. It's certainly a good deal harder to get through on Nightmare.

Yojimboo - I agree, it's better than some of the games that get released that make me just question who spent the money to make it?? lol
Nashiktal - *Rocks out with you* oh if you listen to this band called E nomine while fighting in DA2 it is just amazing lol.

foodeater4 - wow!! haha that's new. I have not heard that at all in these forums. Cool. I am glad you like it.

I haven't seen the extent of this reuse of areas yet, but I do know that across Origins and its add-ons, the same tower area was used about 5 times. And this is a really distinctive thing, not just like a generic cave or hut. The Chantry building in Awakening is exactly the same as the one in Origins. I'd actually say it's fairer for caves in the same game to be cloned than it is for something like a church in two different games, with areas some distance apart, being identical. Outside of that, you had 3 or 4 identical "back alley" areas in Denerim and then, considering this is a whole country, a forest, a tower (again), a village and castle, a market square, Orzammar and a string of areas that you only got to visit once (quite a believability-breaking thing, that).

To be honest, though, this is a Bioware problem in general. Their games always seem to have a very small amount of unique areas since they went 3D. As I've said elsewhere, entire planets in KotOR were represented by one small town with all the doors locked and about 2 interactable NPCs outside of merchants plus 2 or 3 "wilderness" areas that were usually fairly small. In Mass Effect we had generic, bumpy planets with one of two identical buildings on - plus about 5 specific plot planets. ME2 improved in some ways, by having more unique areas, but then had less areas over all. So maybe the problem is still there in DA2, but it's always been something I associate with Bioware and something that holds the believability of their worlds back from something like New Vegas (but then that has all the glitches of the Gamebryo engine to screw with it, I guess).

I am enjoying it. Loving the gameplay and the new class synergy. Loving the story line and Voice Acting, it builds up nicely and I am glad it's not another LoTR rehash.

But 8 hours in the game and you can tell the game did not had the development time it deserved. The copy pasta dungeons, the odd NPCs with half the poly count that look like alpha place holders, the considerable shorter length, the removal of the isometric camera to cut down even more development time... they all cheapen the experience.

It's a good game but it had the potential to be much more. Please take your time next time.

I am. I only use reviews to get a rough barometer of whether or not I will purchase and enjoy the game. Anything above 80% (which is where DA2 is) is great for me.

I'm about 15 hours in and about to start the plot mission that ends Act 1. It's a fun game and I'm happy to be back in the game world and seeing some old friends (so to speak.) There are a number of things about the way this game is structured that remind me of Baldur's Gate 2. This is not to say that there aren't legitimate criticism's of DA2, especially if you were a big fan of the first game. But I've noticed some backtracking on other boards from people who went in expecting to hate the game and are now finding it isn't all that much of a change after all. This is still an RPG and if DAO had been this way nobody would even question that.

Also, if DA2 was called DA: Whatever then I think people would be a bit less worked up about things. But really, this is a new game with a new character in a new part of the world. And in that context, my expectations were different then if I was hoping to play a direct sequel to DAO.

Love it so far, wish there was a toolset though. It's different than Origins, but whos to say that's a bad thing. As a game, I already can't wait for DA3 so I can find out more. I love Thedas.
