Thanks, though! You seriously saved me a bunch of time!
Gotta wonder what goes through the devs' heads when they release something as shoddy as this. Oh well, I'm sure eventually modders will make the romance wonderful. If we ever get a toolset.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the information. Rivalry it is then.
Curious now if the Rivalrymance with Seb is any different
Edit: Nevermind, l2read, self. It aforementioned info IS Friendship based (which turns him to the Chantry - Rivalry apparently turns him towards ruling Starkhaven). I'm sure the relationship remains a chaste one, but I'm curious what different dialogues there are, now, haha.

Surprising how many Alistair gush thread colleagues are here... Well, that's one of the qualities I like most about Ali. He's handsome, charming, affectionate and last but not least EXTREMELY SENSUAL.

Word of warning: the Official Guide is not always correct, and perhaps with Sebastian, particularly so. Example: the guide says to take Sebastian into the Fade with you as he is uncorruptable. This is incorrect. Sebastian will refuse to go into the Fade, as it is against his morals (perhaps he considers all spirits demons?), but after he declined, I had +10 approval points from him.
I don't see how you could achieve a high enough rivalry with Sebastian to make any difference.
Not killing Anders doesn't give you rivalry, he leaves the party for good and vows revenge against "your friend" even at 100 percent friendship.
Yet some rivalry points are possible because when he asks should he stay
at the chantry or go back to Starkhaven, if you choose "go back to Starkhaven", that's +5 rivalry. But only if you have already flirted with him. If a man says that, no rivalry points. Doesn't really make sense.
But if you succeed, let us know.
I thought his character had potential, but as it stands, not worth it. A chaste relationship might suit many, but after the marriage proposal there are no other interactions, even of a chaste kind which is why the marriage proposal was weird--after all, intimacy doesn't only involve sex. Flirting with Alistair in DA:O even before you "go to bed" is very satisfying. But Sebastian doesn't offer any dialogue options after the marriage and saying at the end of the game "perhaps you and I, in another life" doesn't offer much promise of a future either as far as future DLC.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how it happened. (I've only played it once so far.) You may not have noticed Sebastian if he sneaked in toward the end of the fight.

wasn't there supposed to be a part where you flirt with a random npc (no companions) and it makes him jealous and that pushes the romance forward?

I think he is bugged, as well. In the ruins beneath the house as soon as the demon opened her mouth I used the red fist "die demon!' line and killed her. There was no taunting or harassing of Sebastian, but when we went back to the Chantry he was all "the things the demon said.. I can't get the voice out of my head.." um then maybe you are hearing things because she was dead after a couple of good backstabs and never said anything to you. :s
I really hope they patch this or release some DLC that ties it up or something. Chaste marriage my arse, why on earth would anyone agree to that?

Interesting outcome. Different flirt lines in Act 3. He mentions going home to Starkhaven to
reclaim his throne and the flirt line for Hawk is "a prince needs a princess". Choose that and he comes back with "a Viscount combined with a Prince would be unstoppable". In both the full friendship and rivalry
paths, he really wants Hawk to become Viscount and talks to Aveline about it. Then he says they will talk more about this later as he will offer her no less than a prince.
Later, meaning another game or DLC apparently. Still no affection or flirting on his part---he is not the sensual sort. He seems to want a political union to get Starkhaven back if you are on rivalry path, and a
faith based union to "serve the Maker" if you are on friendship path.
Now, now Bioware... why do you think that femHawk would care about being a princess? She's a force who makes her own destiny. Whoever she chooses, it will be about love, not politics. She is already powerful.
This only reiterates that Sebastian is NOT a love interest, no matter which way you play it, rivalry or friendship. He is more a con.
P.S. Did anyone else notice the Nigerian email scam letter to Hawk about a Starkhaven fellow who wants to reclaim his throne and if you open a bank account and deposit x amount of money, they will take your money and then give it back with interest once they reclaim the throne? I laughed out loud.
It's called "A Strangely Official Looking Letter". I wonder if this is an inside joke as in, "Sebastian love interest" is a con.

Wow, thanks for reporting on the Sebastian romance. You just save me a ton of time. The chaste aspect didn't bother me, but no kisses? Not even at the final battle? Oof. Anders should make up for the lack of kisses and Fenris should make up for the lack of sexual tension. =D
I want to say thanks also. I was contemplating romancing Sebastian but this information saved me a lot of time and disappointment. The upside of this is now I don't have to be forced to kill Anders on any of my playthroughs - that would have been absolutely tragic.

Con is right. Best looking guy in the game and he's nothing but a BioWare tease.

Didn't flirt with Sebastian, my Hawke was a guy, but he didn't seem to care that I sided with the mages once I killed Anders.the_baroness wrote...
I think you have to kill Anders and side with the Templars for the Sebastien romance to go all the way through. Anything else, I believe, kills the romance.
Not 100% sure, though.
I laughed, too. I didn't find much in this game to be amusing or fun outside the King Alistair cameo and Varic's combat lines, but that was really good.griffondor wrote...

Does that include before the "Chaste marriage proposal"? I accidently clicked a flirt line with Varric, but I think it was before I was completly friendly with Seb. I have no interest what so ever in any of the other LI. Not including Seb is a total waste - he could have been epic. I prefer his chaste marriage to anyone else.
The whole flirting thing in this game is feels wrong to me. It's more like cheesy inappropriate pick up lines, often at very inappropriate times. Meh, I'll be back in Alibear's arms soon.

He's not a love interest if nothing ever comes of it. Bioware screwed up. The best looking male in the game and he isn't a LI. I wonder who at Bioware made that stupid decision and it is stupid. It's either stupid or someone has no idea of who is good looking. Fenris bugs me, he's too damned moody. I'm romancing Anders but he has changed so much from Awakening personality wise. He's not funny anymore. I want to romance the Arishok, lol. Actually, my Hawke agrees with Anders about the plight of mages so they're a good fit and she'd probably blow up the chantry too.
And I agree, Alistair is epic. DAO is epic with the romances.
I agree completely. If it weren't for Fenris' voice, I wouldn't give him the time of day. My LadyHawke is a Templar, so she can actually get with Fenris and it makes sense. But I guess she just puts a bag over the elf's head at night. :innocent:
Zevran was my favorite in Origins, but I have to admit it was a tough decision. Alistair was so awesome as well.
This game just stinks too much of EA. Bleh.

well he is a DLC, so i doubt he could actually become a full fledged LI as that wouldn't be fair to anyone who wasn't a straight female.
Thats not a good reason. The Non-straight females will have the same number of LI's wether or not the straight ladies have Sebastian. Being fair does not mean making everyone equally poor. It would also give further incentive for them to make a future DLC for the others - especialy if this became sucesful.

Not sure, really. I'm wondering about this also. I got his whole chaste marriage proposition but at the end of the game he's just like "in another life it could've been cool between us lol".
I'd honestly like to know whether I messed up or if it's just lazy writing. It's like he forgot about his proposition altogether.
Weird, gotta be a bug. I flirted with him, but then he said, "well, you're involved with Anders, so no."
Then I sided with the mages, Sebastian stuck around, I then murder-knifed Anders.....and at the goodby sequence Sebastian says "I've never known a woman like you...maybe if, well I shouldn't distract us."
And I was seriously like WTF???
I got shot down and then 5 minutes after I left my bf of 3+ years bleeding out on the dock he says THAT???

But no--he is NOT mentioned in the epilogue at the end in the rivalry romance. Varric says that everybody left your side and no mention is made of Sebastian. In the first play through I'm not entirely certain because my family walked in just as the cut scene was playing and I missed some of what Varric said. I was not about to replay that end battle as it was not easy. But I did not hear anything mentioned of Sebastian...just can't confirm it with 100% like the rivalry "romance".
So again, he is a friend/companion add on and not a love interest and the advertising is misleading. A fun character to add to your party for banter though ("Maker! Save these poor souls!" as a rain of arrows fall on a lair of spiders... Ha Ha)
