The only reason why so many comments on the board are negative is that the people who do enjoy the game are playing it rather than listening to people whine about it.

People were complaining just as much when Dragon Age:Origins, Awakening and Mass Effect 2 were released as well.  This is no different and I'm sure the same thing will happen when Mass Effect 3 is released.

The complaints on these forums should not be indicative of the game's reception from fans or it's popularity.
It's just that people love being hipsters so when they have something negative to say they'll always say it thinking they're being insightful and clever pointing out supposed huge flaws which usually don't even matter to most people.

I hope to the maker your messing with people, because this is not a future most gamers would want to see.

Nothing but conjecture and speculation on your part, but same thing can be said for the extremist in the other camp, so yah...stop spamming the board with pointless topic, thank you.

You are wrong, sir. I'm not playing it because it keeps freezing. And no, I never complained about single BioWare game before. And what should the reception should be judged by? Official forums are full of negativity. Most professional reviews are mediocre at best. Player reviews from aggregate sites are worse than professional.

Would you claim that players only review games they don't like? Then how would you explain raving near-universal praise for Minecraft?

The thing is people who complain, complain LOUDLY and obnoxiously. The people who actually enjoy the game don't feel the need to start a new thread every couple minutes about how much they like it.

Well I don't have any concrete proof obviously but I do think logic suggests people who are happy with this game would spend more of their leisure activity actually playing it rather than spend time on the forums. Especially since the game just came out a few days ago.

I don't think people should jump to the conclusion that most people hate it just because the majority of posts here are negative, especially since the same thing happened with Bioware's other recent releases which are overwhelmingly considered to be outstanding games.

Too bad that many reviews are also not stellar.

Care to explain, how me, the "unhappy person" absolutely loved Mass Effect 2 then? Even bad reviews are right twice a day, you know.

I assume you're talking about the fan reviews since most professional reviews have been very positive.

Those reviews came out hours after the game was released.  There is no way they played enough of the game to give an objective opinion of the game.

Happy, disappointed, and disgusted. The Bioware Cheerleading Squad loves to defend EA, "They're not so bad!," but this is the result we all knew was going to come eventually. A game that's very undercooked and missing some of that Bioware magic. Let's hope they get enough time to make a complete game for the third one. We'll probably see that one in January 2012.

I'm still having fun but this is a gigantic step down in the writing and character development.

Yeah, I'm deeply concerned about some 4chan trolls' opinions.

Funny thing, I recall DA:O being the end of bioware and the betrayal of all that is good and holy and a (I love this phrase) a slap in the face of all their loyal fans, etc.

People work themselves into a lather of expectations and then are disappointed with anything and everything.

DA2 has been incredibly fun for me. What else matters?

I don't know what you mean by "bioware magic" and I say that as someone who has been a Bioware fan since KOTOR, but I think the writing and character development is an improvement.  I haven't completed the game so I can't comment on the storyline overall but I like how it takes a more humble approach dealing with Kirkwall's internal struggles and isn't immedietely about stopping some great cliche evil from destroying the world.
I like how conversations with characters become available as you progress through the game rather than being able to just exhaust them for several hours after you first meet them.

The game is fun, I'll admit it. But I am disappointed with the dumbed down content. So far the game is fairly small, companion customization has been simplified, and the use of tactics isn't as prominent.

As a two-handed warrior I don't even need a tank. Taunt, Cleave, Tornado = everything dead.  With Tornado upgrades, and the Might upgrade nothing stands in my way.

The game is fun but it's certainly a step down from Origins. But this is how it usually goes. Companies always dumb games like RPGs so that it will be more appealing to the entire gaming community and not just the RPG community.

Dragon Age 2 hasn't impressed me enough to buy additional DLC.

EDIT - Dragon Age 2 just doesn't feel as epic to me as Origins did. Many of my friends also agree.

Yeah, they said it Dragon Age Awakening, and Mass Effect 2 as well.  It's now tradition for the doomsayers to declare that Bioware betrayed them every time they release a new game while everyone else is having fun playing them.

I hope that all gamers who love/like Da2 really enjoy them selves. I believe that I would not. But that"s only me.
If ones enjoyes it, Go For It! Have Fun!

I cant stand the over the top: hate/vile love/fanboy in the forum here. I wish that could stop. But it wont, I think;

Honestly I think it is the way of games these days with forums and easy way to express your self not that there is any thing wrong with that. But most posts I see are not constructive.

Also every game released these days has the same criticism take rift I dont play it, but played the beta and seems like a solid game but people still bashed on it.

I think we all have to sit back and understand that a game is not just made for one person but for lots of people and that they will target a larger group of people than the minority.

Dont get me wrong there are things I would of changed with the game (like the mini map it gives to much away such as the maps being so linear but the maps where the same in origins but it wasnt so in your face like it is with the mini map.

But hey maybe there is more haters than lovers(or fanboys) but it is hard to say as whiners are usually the loudest (no offense intended) and I think we may have to wait a week or two untill the dust settles down.

Any way thats my two cents worth.

oh man, I did enjoy myself until around the 2nd chapter.

Then I realized I was doing the exact same junk over and over with the same dungeons just repopulated or simply starting from a different direction!

I say people have a right to be angry.

Funny that I never saw so much dislike about DAO than there is about DA2. Most people liked DAO for its return to the isometric pause and play gamestyle.

Those same people do feel betrayed now that Bioware have abandoned one of the best cRPG mechanics. Its a very valid complaint about this game, theres nothing traditional about it that has been seen anywhere near this strongly on any of Bioware's previous games.
