I assume I am one of the few people who is enjoying the story so far. It feels good not saving the world for the 1000th time.
I expect the story to be good. Have expected so long before the demo.

One: I am not hating on the game. Lets get that out right now before someone thinks i am. Parts of it are enjoyable while other parts, not so much. It won't make my top ten list of games anytime soon.
second: i think Bioware broke the carnal rule. IF it ain't broke don't fix it. Origins had everything from quests that made sense to a very good story and some attatchment if you want to say that to the characters. With part 2, that didn't happen. I can care less about my companions. theres nothing there that makes me wanna care. In Origins i wanted to know why Allister was like he was, why morrigan was such a **** why shale was..ok bad example there lol. But i think you see the point i am trying to make.
Graphics are nice but don't make a good rpg. Story does. DA2 broke everything that didn't need to be fixed.

I have noticed he hasn't been back on the forums for quite a while. I just feel that it may be good for him to know that while many of us hate DA2, we do not in any way blame him for it. From what I saw of the story for DA2 it looked well written, clever and interesting. I love the story but can't stand the way it was delivered. I was briefly tempted to try and recreate DA2 in DA:O toolset after looking at the DA2 story, it would be too much work for a single modder though. The game itself fails to put it forward the writing that went into it. I have seen a few people praising both the game and the story but for the most part, people that do not like the game are hardly able to see the story beyond all thier gripes. Its like all of the lord of the rings book fans were unable to appreciate the movies because of the outrage they felt about the changes made. That did not make the movies bad.
We love you David, please don't feel like your fans have turned on you.
maybe he should look at the 5 stages of grief

I'm confused how that makes any sense with this topic though.

Here's what I love about it.
It isn't every single other 'Save the world from the evil _______' game. It's like every single crpg needs to be an epic like Robert Jordan's Wheel of time.
What we have in DA2 (from what I've seen so far) is a smaller story with antagonists and protagonists who are just a little more believable in my own humble opinion. A step off to the side, to break the mold of the epic fantasy, to tell a smaller story that is quite intriguing and has deep characters...I think Bioware took a step in the right direction trying this out.
Thanks guys and keep trying new stuff...you rarely disapoint me.

Big Cheese: "We want you to make an entire new game in just 12 months that sells more copies than any of our previous games, and it needs to be popular with the enormous console market."
Lead Designer: "But sir, it's..."
Big Cheese: "But nothing! Get it done."
Lead Designer: "That kind of thing would need a huge budget, will we at least be able to hire lots of new staff to help?"
Big Cheese: "No, we have a minimal budget, even smaller than the first game, and most of this will have to go to the art department because I've seen feedback saying the graphics weren't good enough and I am going to personally make sure that doesn't happen again."
Designer: "But what about quests, and equipment design, and locations?!"
Big Cheese: "That's your problem, not mine. You are going to have to find a solution. Now get to work"
Later that day around the water cooler, the design team chat:
Designer 1: "HTF are we supposed to achieve all that in such a short time, with virtually no budget?!"
Lead Designer: "I don't know... I suppose... the only real option would be to just take our Origins design, and rip absolutely everything out of it, except the absolute most basic necessities."
Designer 2: "So no unique starting locations and quests for the different races?"
Lead Designer: "There won't even BE different races... We are going to need one race, no more than a dozen characters in the whole game, just a dozen or so locations, populated in the barest minimal way, no riddles, no puzzles, no shareable loot so fewer armor models, no tactical view, fewer dialogue options, and we'll just re-use the same one dungeon several times."
Designer 2: "But that sounds....."
Lead Designer: "I know :("
