I do have one question about playing as a female noble. If you make Alistair king and he's in love with you, will he propose to you after the landmeet/during the epilogue or do you have to use the persuade option "Alistair shall be king and I shall rule with him." to become queen?
You have to use the persuade option.

I just wanted my Al all to myself. I didn't want to see Morrigan's grimy hands on him. If that needed to be done, why couldn't they just use the turkey baster method? My PC would just talk with Alistair for a moment and then return to Morrigan with a cup. She is a mage, she could figure out what do afterwards.
Morrigan: *stares at cup in hand*
Female PC: And that's as close as you'll ever get Morrie.

I'm playing a male noble this time around. I was looking for some fun bromance, and a way to make him king without the sting of loss. We'll see how it goes

WIN
Now I wish there were such an option :innocent:

I avoided the internet until I beat the game and man, am I glad I did. Meta-gaming would have sucked all the fun out of it. The first time through the romance storyline was really fun. One of the best WTF moments I had was the "break up" scene. So funny because I blew off a date with my IRL boyfriend to stay home and play DA, only to be dumped by my fake one. That was amazing.
Although I wish I hadn't reloaded it to get different endings, since now my first character's endgame is some kind of weird Sliders/Twilight Zone alternate universe... "I'm still alive! Or am I dead? So Alistair has never left my side, although the Queen's talking about him like he's still alive, and no one's standing there... uh... "
Restart!
Re: Morrigan saving your lives... it would have been great to have a creepy "Can I watch?" dialog option. (Well I guess you already kind of do.)

I wouldn't have been so cranky about the whole Morrigan thing if I'd been allowed to romance both Alistair and Zevran at the same time without Ali getting all emo about it and making me choose between them.
As far as I know, he won't propose on his own (in fact, I'm pretty sure he'll dump you after being made king even if you are a human noble, using the darkspawn taint/heir excuse, unless you do the rule with him option at Landsmeet). I'm not 100% on that without playing it through again, but I think that's what happened when I tried it.Damsel of Distress wrote...

Yep, he´ll dump you if you don´t use this option in landsmeet. Since I was curious on the outcome I already tried this with my female human noble. <_<

Could I have some opinions from fellow Alistair fans?
Tell me: Is the dialogue sweeter when you invite Alistair to bed with you for the first time (and his approval is high enough to accept), or when he comes to you?/[quote]
Both are good, but imo, waiting for Alistair to ask you is very much worth the wait. The scene was very touching and sweet.... Very much awwwwwww......

At any rate, I think most women much prefer a man like Alistair to some macho jerk who would pretend like he couldn't care less that his friends were dead. I didn't have a problem with Alistair moping. Had I been in his shoes, I'd have done the same. In fact, I like to think that my human noble PC did plenty of her own moping, what with her family being dead and all. I think it's only natural that someone would be deeply shaken by such events and I appreciated that Alistair was honest with my PC, rather than trying to bottle it up. It made the romance more meaningful to me, knowing he would let her see him at his most vulnerable.

It's kinda of a bummer because after an epic story I want to be rewarded with a solid ending, not a set up for the sequal. They could have just screwed up your relationship to start of DA 2 rather then make digitial bliss impossible in DA 1.
Oh well, it's the accountants and marketing folk that drive the world rather than the romantists I suppose.....

Either you die, Alistair leaves or dies, or you go with the naughty forbidden apple option. (which IMO the sex is not nearely as disturbing as two grey wardens organizing the rebirth, as it were, of a former darkspawn archdemon. the hinting at things in this game was awful clever... Morrigan saying things like 'if it has taught me anything, it is that first you must survive' early on and wynne prattling on and on about how you probably both wont make it or may be the doom of each other. It's that star wars thing all over again! Jedi err Grey wardens must not fall in love for the safety of the world!)
I think that it was all played out very well. Dying as a hero /is/ a happy ending like it not, but if you want that 'happy' ending with the guy and girl together forever you have to do something baaaad. For me at least the symbolism in that was surprisingly effective... normally I'm the type who barely thinks twice about considering the witchy offers. For the record though, IRL, I'd totally just die and run away from Morrigan praying for dear life, thank you.
Personally I really wanna know if the PC and Alistair married as king and .. princess consort or w/e ever have that hard to get heir they were emoing over. Not that I'll ever know but considering she is THE PC she can beat the ridiculous odds just one more time, can't she?!

Indeed, but I had taken Alistair with me the entire game, and I didn't know he wasn't going to give me a choice when it came time to do the deed. It also never even crossed my mind to not have him there at the tower. He was a Gray Warden, the future king, and an important part of my battle tactics. His being there was given before I even considered who my final team would be.Joie de Combat wrote...
Untrue! A female PC can sacrifice herself even if Alistair is in love with her. She just has to leave him at the gates of Denerim to lead the defense there instead of taking him into Fort Drakon with her. If he's not up on the tower when the archdemon goes down, he can't take the choice out of her hands.Savvy30039 wrote...
But any female character that's in love with Alistair doesn't have the chance to sacrifice themselves.
So yes, it is possible for a smitten fem PC to save her king. But for my Gray Warden, that wasn't ever an option.
Well, if the odds of them having a child are a million to one, they'll just have to give it a million tries right? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]ahnnajade wrote...

I think whether there was a true hollywood ending or not, most of us would come accross a multitude of other endings before we achieved it, and be every bit as astounded at the nature of the choices we had to make to finally get there.andyr1986 wrote...
It would be interesting too see that if we were in an alternate universe where the 'hollywood' ending was in the game whetehr we would have such a large heartfelt reaction as we do now.
+1 for the writers i say.

Since she made it seem like it was an actual "ritual" (assuming not a euphemism), maybe there is a bunch more magical/witchy stuff involved instead of just simply conceiving, and maybe a baby with TWO Grey Warden parents would be too tainted or whatever to host the Old God's spirit. But I just wonder if it could have happened more or less unintentionally. I know the odds are bad, here, but if they exist at all it seems like it could be possible.

I was wondering... if you are able to convince Alistair to be his queen, meaning he agrees there is a *possibility* of the two of you reproducing at some point... does that mean if your female PC had managed (against all odds, I realize) to get pregnant before the final battle then it would sort of usurp Morrigan's offer? "drawn like a beacon" and all that...?

I have thought about that myself. Especially since my PC and Alistair went at it like rabbits.
