Here's to the machine gun and to the dwarf who loves her.

I had to replay Fenris' quest to get the romance going, and it was worth it to see an epic finish to the battle with Hadriana, mano a dwarfo, everyone dead but him, Varric about to keel over and with no potion available.




There was never really any contest.

I love the banter with Isabela trying to seduce Bianca away from Varric. I was about to open a door to a new quest I just stopped and let that play out from the moment Varric "Are you talking to Bianca?" *SCREECH* I thought, 'Alright, sorry desperate Apostates, this is too good to not hear.'

I love it that if enemies get close, he bashes them with her. Then complains about her having a scratch. lol

Varric's personal quest in act 2 is the best. Actually Aveline's might be the best, but "Bianca and I faced down a mansion full of crazies" tall tale was hilarious.

He also gets some of the best lines. After they watched Fenris phase someone and Hawke got shirty about it, Varric says all concerned: "Hawke, now might not be the best time to offer the elf constructive criticism." I also love that he calls Merrill "Daisy," and that he's so protective of everyone.

Bianca is the best. I sometimes get distracted in battle because it is so freaking fun to watch him (and his battle cries remind me of Garrus!). Also, the noise she makes when he folds her back up is a very nice touch, I think.

I think I may have gotten a codex entry on Bianca when I got Varri'sc friendship. i will have to see if it tells her tale. I have to agree Bianca is the most badass weapon in the game.

I was thinking the exact same thing! Don't worry, Varric. Bianca's a tough girl. She can take a hit or two or three or four. xD

Definitely the best romance in the game is that between a dwarf and his crossbow. He's my favorite character (he reminds me of me, and that's not meant to be snotty). Definitely a fresh feel over the overall serious feel to the other characters and their roles. I also find his story the most personal...

Agreed. Bianca and Varric were awesome. Can't remember the last game that made me care about someone's relationship with an inanimate object. Just wish we got to hear the story.

I support a DLC where we see the DA2 companion cast stting at a bar after the final battle (My Hawke said she was buying the first round in my game) and Varric finally recites the tale of Bianca. It would be framed in a narrative way like DA 2. As someone else aptly named it "Bianca's Song." Bioware make it happen please.

I love the Tal Vashoth quest where the guy is shouting at you from the cliffs above and Varric says "I don't even wake Bianca up for every threat any more." LOL Varric... he has the best dialogue. Mary Kirby is a genius.

In a banter with Merrill, she asks him about Bianca's story. He says something like "There was a girl. I made a promise. Bianca is the one story I can never tell." Merrill says now she really wants to know, and he laughs and says that was the point.

@LT123- I had a feeling it was something like that. Bianca has something to do with a past love, maybe? Not that there's any way to tell, but that's my guess.


Bianca's codex entry:

Varric's crossbow is a marvel of dwarven craftsmanship, clearly the work of a master. However, she bears no smith's mark.

When asked how he procured the weapon, Varric has a few claims. He could have won it in a game of Wicked Grace against Paragon Branka, it could've been a gift from a mysterious old beggar who disappeared into thin air, and it's possible he bought it off a crooked merchant in Lowtown with the previous owner's hand still wrapped around the trigger.

None of those explanations is very likely and continued questioning simply results in Varric grinning and walking away.

It doesn't shed much light on the matter, unfortunately. Bianca will forever be a mystery~

By the way, have any of you had Sebastian and Varric in the same party at some point? but I came across this hilarious banter where Sebastian offered to give Varric a few pointers. Varric sounded very offended at how Sebastian even suggested touching Bianca's trigger LOL. xD

I heard that too and it was quite a chuckle. Varric has the best party banter be it funny or sweet. I like how he gives Merrill the ball of yarn and then she tries to give back later in the game. His conversations with Isabella were amusing as well. Between the chest hair and them talking about "daggers" I laughed so hard.

I like how he keeps in character even when being interrogated by Cassandra. My favorite line was when Cassandra disbelieves him about Flemeth and he smuggly says, "Shall I recite the tale of the Warden?"

And yes, it goes without saying but it must be said anyways, that the part in the mansion during his Act 2 quest was absolutely genius. Only he could have gotten away with it.
