The thing is Bethseda has always been a fan based company. They always want to work on problems and they do try to fix things. They encourage mods. And they really love their game. Unlike Bioware whom's director hated everything about Origins. Bethseda loves the Elder Scrolls series. And they are always always looking for ways to improve their games. I have been on the Bethsoft forums and no offense, but they really have a better community there. Bethseda is never afraid to take fan's critques or even take fan's words. I have seen several Bethseda workers whom have taken their fans word for value. Even if they didn't add it into the next game, they still say "we'll take a look, thanks for the input". Where as I have been on this Bioware site and half of Bioware they don't have that love.
The reason Oblivion won GOTY was because it was made with the love of the series. And its what the fans wanted of the Elder Scrolls series.
Bethseda cares.
Are you sure you don't have Bethseda confused with some other company?
-Many fan sites complain of Bethseda blacklisting them for expressing concerns about their designs, some sites are so blacklisted that Bethseda's software autocensors the names.
-Bethseda has consistently done it's best to remove things from the series with each iteration, every game had less skills than the last. Usually at the cost of gameplay, such as climbing, or spell creation. Bethseda doesn't seem to like the TES design very much, they've been moving further and further away from it with each release.
-Bethseda has a "Better community" because they ban anyone who disagrees with them. Which leads to...
-Bethseda has huge problems taking critique, if you don't toe the "FPP combat should be applied to every game ever!" line you'll get banned out of the community. Didn't you ever wonder why their boards turned completely positive for Fallout 3 right after their E3 push? Did you take a few minutes to note the names of who was and wasn't posting? Bethseda bannned people left and right during that last E3 show for not being positive enough!. One poster's ban was for "Posting rhetorical questions".
-Bethseda created an NPC in Oblivion that did nothing but mock TES fans for wanting them to keep skills. Not only do they not respect the fans, they disparaged them publicly.
-Oblivion won the award because there were no other RPGs released that year, except for one that really sucked hard. There's a big difference between winning an award, and simply being the only candidate. It sold that many units only because it was the only "RPG" available for the 360. I use RPG very loosely, as in "Bethseda put the letters on the box but the game wasn't an RPG".
Bethseda is, hands down, the most devious studio I've ever seen.
Has the guy your disagreeing with ever played Daggerfall? If not then he wouldn't be saying that Beth is a fanbased company, overall there is no such thing sorry.

DA2 is one of best rpg i,ve played this year
it is a shame skyrim will steal all the awards from DA2
as we all know skyrim will have tons of bugs and crash every 5 min
the only problem with DA2 is are cooldown times
and i thought the DA:O characters are a little better
but everything else is much better
The Witcher 2 says hi.

Good aspect about dragon age saga was that graphic demands could always be small and everyone can buy/play the game, even though visuals got slim

As a fan of Bethseda who has never been stirred wrong. I have a hard time believing this.
As I have always had positive reactions with the company, the mods, and community. It may be due to this, but eh.
Its cause I trust Bethseda fully. They aren't always the best I admit, with some of their er designs and glitches.
But I have always supported their games. And have liked the direction they have taken things. So, I guess I never met the negative side because I trust Bethseda.

Seriously, for an indy developer to get this much hype around it? it shows that they are caring about their product and IMPROVING on their first installment.
DA2 is like a trust fall, and nobody is there to catch them.

1996 baby, 1996.
And they redeemed themselves as well. Bethseda has been known for their fixes.

Skyrim
Mass Effect 3
DA2 doesn't stand a chance, the game is average at best.

well to be fair, the DLC for ME2 has already shown big improvements over the actual game

Apparently someone didn't see how Mass Effect 2 wins every thing.

Then you can't say that Daggerfall has anything to do with Oblivion. Sure Beth heres complaints but only complaints from the masses and not the minority of people who played Daggerfall or even Morrowind for **** sake. They hear the people who BW wants to appeal to, the CoD crowd because that is where the money is and to say that these devs are above profit motivation then you are being unrealisitc.

My vote goes to the RPG with the most immersive world and the fewest moronic fetch quests.
That will most likely be TW2.
I bet the Witcher 2 too. Would want to preorder it even.

Oh if you count JRPGs i think that Yakuza 4 will get better overall ratings than dragon age 2
[nitpicky mode]Yakuza ain't a JRPG, it's more action/adventure. Sure it has stats but so does Tiger Woods.[/nitpicky mode]
DA2 ain't an RPG either. It is a splatter action adventure.
