My only wish for Skryim is that engine they been using since Morrowind is removed hung set on fire and quartered to the very ends of the earth.

Have no fear...there is an awesome looking, brand new rpg coming out this fall. Elder Scroll sized open world, fantasy, rich rpg elements, over 120 fully fleshed dungeons with loot and quests, written by R.A. SALVATORE...art by Todd McFarlane...designed by the father of open world rpgs KEN ROLSTON...full action or tactical combat....bright colors and mystical landscapes...full customization. It is a promising gem I suggest everybody check out...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I've been watching this game since it was announced, I just hope it lives up to it's promises. The latest screenshots are amazing. I just have the feeling it's going to be over-looked.

The fact that Bethesda have confirmed mod tools for Skyrim gives them a huge edge in my book.

If Skyrim has two voice actors between 100 unique characters, takes place in the same meadow(now icy forest) and has boring combat system and main plot then no Skyrim won't be GotY.

Yes it will. Oblivion was the unanimous GOTY.

They're rewriting a new engine, the engine used in Oblivion and FO3 was scrapped and everything is being redone.  And not only that, quests will be dynamic (e.g., in rescue character X quests, X's location in the game will change from playthrough to playthrough depending on which dungeons you have explored up to the point of getting the quest); quest-givers will be dynamic (e.g., if you kill a shopkeeper who gives you quests, his sister gives you the quests instead, and might try to kill you later out of revenge); NPC relations are getting revamped (e.g., stealing, trespassing, etc. and their consequences will be tweaked depending on who you're stealing from); NPC interactions have been changed and the camera no longer pauses the game and centers on the NPC's face when you initiate dialogue with them

As a fan of Bethseda who has never been stirred wrong. I have a hard time believing this.

As I have always had positive reactions with the company, the mods, and community. It may be due to this, but eh.

Its cause I trust Bethseda fully. They aren't always the best I admit, with some of their er designs and glitches.

But I have always supported their games. And have liked the direction they have taken things. So, I guess I never met the negative side because I trust Bethseda.

I'm a fan of Bethesda's games (not so much of the studio ...), and most of what Gatt9 says is true. The one thing which isn't is the "can't take critique" part: I can and did trash their idiocy on their own forums more than once, and never had so much as an infraction; others do the same. Though the NMA and Codex trolls really gave the moderation a hard time, and there was some unjustified banning a few years ago. The moderators got better. ;)

What Bethesda does right, though, is to make their games comparatively easy to mod, which means there is a thriving community centered around the modding. So I don't mind how brain-dead stupid Oblivion or how unbeievably ugly Fallout 3 are - I can always bring them up to what I want to do with them with relative ease.

I don't mind if Skrim wins. Looks like they are putting a lot of work into it. But I'd prefer DE:HR just because it's something a bit different.

If DA2 wins, then the whole thing is a travesty.

What do you mean by "will be the best RPG this year". Do you mean it is going to win GOTY ?
