the way this game was set up story wise, it just felt like an expansion story. act 1 should have shorter, i.e. need to raise less money, or do a lot less quests to raise that much. 5 hours per act and this would have been a PERFECT prequel. thats all that there was really for the main plot. usually side quests have something to do with the background, or companions.
quest wise: when i help a guy with his mine, and he gives me half a share, i expect something out of it. a regular income, or something.
i decided to use the slave girl as a paid servant, and she was just furniture in my mansion...expected at least a conversation where she talks about how happy, sad, angry whatever she was about her situation.
i chose to spare the life of verrics brother....what are the consequences of my actions?
i see beautiful coordination of some things, and others mean absoluely nothing.
on the quest orsinus sent me on to see what the secret meeting was about between mages and templars....i slaughtered all fo them cuz i wasnt even given a choice to do anything. they saw me boom cut to fight. i wa dissappointed that upon choosing a side i was forced to kill.
i just feel....empty after the ending. you fight this whole big battle to find out...nothing. first battle of the big war.
P.S. how do i earn the seize the throne for that achievement? is that wjat u get for siding with templars?
hate to say it but

Signed. I spent a lot of time reloading to try to get the game to come out the way I want it and quickly discovered that most of the 'choices' just get you different dialogue and in the end the game comes out the same way no matter what. I guess that makes importing easier, but like you I felt it was just a prequel. I'm not really satisfied.

Same here. I romanced Anders, and all of that. All comes out the same way. Bleh.
Not to mentioned, DA2 was the UGLY version of pretty much everyone. Anders was HOT in Awakening -- this one? He's tolerable. Has anyone managed to romance Sebastian? =)

Pretty sure you get that achievement by becoming the new Viscount.
