We'll see, I suppose.Epic Cardboard wrote...
"New conversations" as a feature? Do you mean conversations badly voice-acted in, or Alistair staring blankly at us as we stare blankly back with words on screen? I'm all for the idea of there being a male romance with Alistair, but either way you do the dialogue, it's pretty immersion shattering.

I came to this forum to check out the modding scene and the first two threads I see are 'nudemod' and 'gaymod'. No offense intended Falranth as you seem quite serious about this project, I just think it's a classic snapshot of the so-called adult gaming community.
I'm not going to say anything about the nude mod, since it's a personal choice. But THIS idea, the Alistair Romance for males, is something very possible and that deserves praise, and it is definitely not a "classic snapshot".
@falrath: yes, but if you wait and plan for a bit more, you'll be able to create more. not everyone has that DLC (I have not, for instance, even if I plan to buy it soon)

What kinds of shared tasks would seem appropriate for the setting, such as for survival or hygiene? Obviously these are not really addressed within the game. My ideas at the moment are hunting, bathing, washing clothes, and setting up camp.
The other benefit of exploring this dynamic is that it really does not require much dialogue. Indeed, actions speak louder than words.
I was also considering the possibility of creating a personal space for Alistair and the player-character off of the campsite--down a small trail to a little pond, perhaps. This could be one site for such intimacy. What do you think?

I hope you're implying something different than I think you are, gay mods are no more obscene or adult than a mod to turn one of the gay party members straight (oh wait LOL there aren't any). I would agree that the nudemod is a classic snapshot of the adult gaming community, it's inevitable and predictable with each moddable game. People like nudity and they like it more so when it involves a degree of emotional attachment or sustained physical attraction, until that changes (don't hold your breath) the nudity mods will come hard and fast. (XD sorry i couldn't resist).
Anyway Falranth you brought up a really, really good point about same sex relationships, the shared activity and comeraderie is something I hadn't even thought of or considered. I don't think you should make a separate area that far away, maybe just put another tent behind the main ones perhaps with a miniature fire. That way you get a certain degree of intimacy without feeling cut off from the rest of the camp.
I think you should be very, very careful about the voice-acting, that more than anything else will make or break the mod, so let being a perfectionist be a virtue in this scenario, not a curse. Also i'd be wary about altering his personality at all, people love Alistair the way he is, thats why he's so popular. Anyway I'm really looking forward to this and hope you can pull it off.

I don't plan on changing his personality--in fact, I am going to be extremely careful as to that, even to where when the time comes, I'll be inviting other writers to come in and do some polishing.
Along those lines, I want this to be an inclusive project. I'm being a bit guarded with some of the more thematic aspects of the project, because I think that in a way they require caution, but for many parts I would actually love to have others working with me. I know it's early right now, but I'm just putting it out there. I love it when people get excited and throw their ideas in. A number of minds are greater than one (mileage may vary--sometimes people don't know what they want).
So, of course, thank you for your ideas.
For the side area (let's call it that), you don't think more secluded would be better? It seems it would be really challenging to create a sense of privacy when Morrigan could **** her way in at any moment.
Tell ya what: as soon as I get out of Lothering, I'll wander around the campsite snapping pics. We can toss ideas around.
