I think this is the correct forum for this. I apologize if it isn't.

Eurogamer recently posted up an interview where they asked Mike Laidlaw about potential ideas for Dragon Age 3.  This was probably the most interesting part.

One missing ingredient of BioWare's Dragon Age and Mass Effect series
has been any form of multiplayer. But Laidlaw's enthusiasm suggests this
may not be the case for long.

"Just from a fundamental idea: [multiplayer] absolutely would [work],"
he said. "A big part of that is going back to fundamentals of the Dragon
Age series and that sense of team; that we are stronger together than
we are divided, which is in many ways a story theme through DA2.

"Any time you have a game that is aware of the advantages of teamwork,
what it's like when multiple classes combine their abilities, be it a
rogue not just stunning enemies but helping to conceal his friends so
that they can take damage better - that's where you do an allegory that
says yeah, we could do multiplayer here for sure.

"I do think the changes made to Dragon Age II in terms of responsiveness
are going to be things that could translate better into multiplayer
than Origins, which had that inherent delay between what I was ordering
and what was happening. It's certainly laying an interesting groundwork.

"Long-term that's something we have to consider," he added, "because
obviously multiplayer is something that's a huge undertaking, it
presents technical difficulty. And frankly it's something that if done,
has to be done really well, otherwise it feels very tacked on. So we'll
have to make any decision about that within that context."

There's a lot more about Dragon Age 2 and a bit more about potential ideas for Dragon Age 3 at the link.

Edit:

Since people were asking about Dragon Age 2 content.

What of the character Hawke, the star of Dragon Age II - can he go on to star in Dragon Age 3?

"It really depends," said Laidlaw. "Certainly we have ideas for him as a
character, but where we go from here right now is mainly focused on DLC
and for new expansions and new adventures, new additions to his story."

Mike, no. Knock this **** off. You've already sunk $300 million into The Old Republic, and you'll have enough fun keeping that running once it's done.

Stick to what you guys have proved you know best, an immersive single player experience.

Untill Multyplayer is not a subsitute for the single player experience, untill it's something that's aimed to have more longevity and that's developed for its own sake, like AC:B or RDR multyplayer, I have nothing against it since many person are interested and it's more game for your $.

Even if I must admit that personally I'm not interested at all in multyplayer.

Please, no. I'd much prefer any funding for MP to be put in SP.

If there is to be a multiplayer in any of these games, I'd much prefer it in ME3 instead because at least it's mechanics are built for MP.

Well, it's not like BioWare has a history of ****ty multiplayer. NWN as a single-player game was crap, but it's multiplayer aspect (which many would call the focus of the game) was widely acclaimed. I wouldn't mind something similar in the Dragon Age franchise, but it would have to be done just as well, and without the rubbish was the NWN main campaign.

I hope not, but if they do make it mulitplayer that it is an option rather than an absolute. I'm not opposed to multiplayer I just don't like forced ones. I don't really play MMPORGs. I am curious about The Old Republic, but not excited since it's multiplayer. I prefer to play my games myself or occaissionally with a friend like in Fable 3.

What's wrong with some kind of co-op multy in theory?

Even BG2 have multyplayer components...

I wouldn't want it in either game; it would work best in a new IP designed specifically with multiplayer in mind.

Yes, infact they added multy to BG2 and published NWN because they allready know that they were going to be sold to EA.

Didnt you know?  Every game has too have multiplayer now.  Its the future!  EA said so and they are always right!  <_<

Actually I would quite like a co-op mode. That was really fun on Baldur's and I could see it working well in Dragon Age too.  Of course if done correctly.  A full blown multiplayer? no thanks!

I'm 100% positive that any multiplayer component of a Dragon Age game would be co-op along the lines of BG or NWN, not some 16-player deathmatch style garbage.

I would say this exept I think DA 2 has already proven the franchise will be departing from it's roots more so with every expansion or sequel, so nothing could really surprise me at this point.

Ideas for DA3, DA2 only just released how about supporting this game before rushing out another.
Especially since you didnt even bother to finish the story, or will this be like ME were we are with Hawke for the rest of the games until its all wrapped up ?
BW rethink this.

Again, I kinda like the idea. I wouldn't want anything detracted from the Single Player experience but a MP experience would be kind of awesome. I always had a penchant for Gauntlet style games but to apply this tactically. Hmm, that'd be kinda sweet.

Hmmm... you're aware that, given Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, multiplayer in DAIII would actually be more a return to its roots?

yeah great ideo to even spend less time of polishing the SP experience. That has helped dragon age 2 alot.

Yeah maybe some multiplayer would be good but first you need to concentrate on the SP experience.

I don't think that the budget EA will "give" to BW to do so, will be enough.
