What's wrong with some kind of co-op multy in theory?

It tends to fundamentally affect the story for one, since pretty much no human being enjoys playing second fiddle to the Chosen Protagonist. See how the plot of nearly every MMO out there is built for examples. Even BioWare's own incoming MMO had to take that into account, with its quest decision mechanics.

To a degree it can also affect the presence of NPC companions (the most acclaimed part of BioWare games at this point) since few people have patience to sit around while another person clicks through dialogues with the NPC drone.

Baldur's Gate might have worked slightly differently when it comes to these but that's been ages ago and people's expectations changed since when it comes to their own role in a game. And in addition it should be rather clear at this point BioWare isn't taking their design ideas from that old chestnut of the game anymore, so you likely shouldn't expect anything like that.

Why not? It is a party based game, it worked fine in NWN and BG.

This isn't NWN or BG though, it will be DA3: Awesome Extreme. It's not a question of wanting Multiplayer in a Bioware game again, its about if you could seriously trust Mike Laidlaw with it.

I would. As opposed to the 'rpg core mechanics blasphemy', the only things I dislike in this game are clearly unintended and symptoms of the EA rush.

So, if they don't rush, I think it could turn out pretty well.

You whiney so and so's need to choose a side and stick with it.

"Dragon Age 2 is crap/rubbish/lame. It should be more like Baldur's Gate. What happened to you Bioware? You should make games like Baldur's Gate again."

"No multiplayer! This aggression will not stand."

Guess what Baldur's Gate had... that's right... Multiplayer. So did Neverwinter Nights and it was absolutely fan-freaking-tastic. It didn't detract from the story in any shape, form, or fashion. It gave the game a nice long life span and spawned a huge community. All of you mod-centric people are enjoying the set up that that community provided.

That horrible, no good multiplayer, that waters down your single player experiences was the forerunner for everything you losers are pining for.

It's threads like this that shed light on the true nature of all the whining and complaining.

You won't be satisfied by anything and you jump to negative conclusions at the drop of a hat. Then you wonder why the dev team didn't pander to your every whim. Would you try to please someone like that?

Didn't think so.

Oh nuts. So DA3 will be messed up too then.

If Bioware actively tried to sabotage themselves I don't think they could have done a better job.

For the love of God, please do not add any multiplayer to Dragon Age.  You guys are ruining what makes you guys lovable and if you continue this adding features to make it impact more of the market, then I will be done buying your games.

Think about it, Dragon Age:Origins won Game of the Year awards.  We loved it how it was even though it was not perfect.  We honestly expected you to polish your problems, tell a different story about a different part of the land and grow the lore of the Dragon Age franchise.  What did you do?  You made it accesable to a wider audience and all in one freaking city.

Do not let EA's money mantra spoil the beautiful games you used to make.

Thats why I'm against Multiplayer. I loved the multiplayer in NWN but if it were brought back into DA3 under Mike Laidlaw, then all we'll see is that kind of crap.

I don't follow your logic, would you care to elaborate?

NWN multiplayer was custom modules, adventures with friends, quite D&D'esque.

What I read into the above was 'Army of Two'. I don't want Bioware to ever sink to that level, if you do thats fine, but I don't. Thats my point.

All he said was that multiplayer would 'obviously work'. Nothing at all points to how said multiplayer system would be implemented.

If you want to believe that its 'lol army of two lol', then its pretty much fine. But I'd rather way for actual information, instead of guiding myself with prejudice.

Apparently, since the inventory system was changed, Mike Laidlaw is synonim to RPG's Martin Luther and therefore, the multiplayer will be mmo-esque.

It was fun multiplayer, too. There were some fun people to play with on heat.net back in the day.

horde mode for Mass Effect via something like Pinnacle Station (which was already a horde mode but with its own story, kinda ahead of its time) would work fine, competitive multiplayer wouldn't really work as well

multiplayer for Dragon Age would suck tho, it would be like WoW-lite except extremely boring

Hmmm.... ME2 got attacked and now DA2 is getting attacked and both are spouting multiplayer rumors for the next installment. I think they should focus on what people thought was wrong and needed to be fixed instead of saying "Oh people didn't like the last game, maybe if we put in multiplayer everyone will like us and the games again."

Bioware should just make a multiplayer RPG game instead of trying to put it into an established single player game like ME and DA.
