Title says it all. No indication of what may be causing it. Happens at random with no predictability.
Most recent one was when doing the Wounded Coast. Cleared the whole thing out, making a sweep to be sure I'd picked up all the chests, etc.. and it just froze.
Unfortuunately for me, I didn't save during that run....

I'm not sure if the problem lingers from DA:O and if you have a lot of sustained abilities activated but in DA:O there was such a problem. A lot of sustained abilities activated at the same time caused some random crashes. There never came a solution for that problem in DA:O so I can't say if it will be helped in DAII, if it still persist.

Sorry to see you aren't getting any useful replies to this, since I seem to be having the same problem
I have only had the game activated for 18 hours and have been trying out a couple of different classes before deciding which one I want to take further for the first play through. Both have ended up freezing soon after completing the first year in Kirkwall. Once in the level up process and once during general movement.

CPU: Intel i7-930 @ 2.8 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 460 1GB
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
GPU Drivers: 258.96... these came with my build and I'm a great believer in 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I haven't seen anything on the forums yet that suggests I have much to gain from changing the gpu drivers. However, I might be tempted to try some others if this problem continues.
Running the DX 11 option, with high res textures, causes some small stuttering and black ground texturtes at one angle of viewing, so I'm curently running the DX10 option.

Can't seem to find anything that stands out that would cause the locks.
I have the sustained abilities set to deactivate after combat, with the exception of the dog, which I generally call out before a fight.
Just a few moments ago, I loaded the game to check the stats on something for another post, managed to take a few steps, and it locked right up, not 30 seconds after loading the save.
I've taken to saving after every conversation, pickup, fight, etc.. because you just never know when it's going to take a dump and make you start over.
Highly annoying to say the least. I'm seriously tempted to just shelve it until someone finds a fix. this is retarded.
