Does anyone know how to use Goad?  Shouldn't I target an area, THEN a companion?  I can't tell any noticeable effect when I use it.  I target an area; but then, it has no noticable effect.  Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah its a little unclear from the description. Best I can tell is the area should be centered around the person you want to transfer threat TO? Thats the way I used it last night, and it seemed to do stuff, but it was difficult to tell. It really doesn't make sense, cause if it was AOE around a companion, and it goads enemies in that area, whats the point....they are already near the tank!

How do you Goad enemies off a ranged ally on the other side of the battlefield?

It does seem like it should work like an AOE and a heal. Where you select an area to pull from, and an ally to transfer threat to.

The above poster is correct, goad is basically a secondary source of taunt (only cast on someone else instead of on yourself). That said, I'm a little iffy as to its worth because the area is very small and the upgrade requires half the tree by the time you get it. Disengaging one foe from an archer/mage is easy enough--just charge across the battlefield, and cast goad. Disengaging more than one foe is not so easy--you'll need careful positioning, or you might need to use both goad and armistice.

N.B. I'm playing on hard, not nightmare, so friendly fire might make it harder to use (especially if you're using a two-handed warrior).

Are you playing on console? If so, check the support forums. Goad is currently broken (at least on 360 -- and presumably on PS3). It's a known issue and Bioware should, hopefully, be patching it in the future.  On PC, it seems to work normally.

But I don't understand,   where is the "goad radius" and how do you choose a ally target to receive the threat?

When you use Goad, you get an AOE circle on the ground.   What is this?  Is that the radius relating to the enemies that will be Goad'd?   That makes sense....but then how do you choose the ally to send the enemies?

Or maybe the radius of enemies to be Goaded is just around the person USING Goad, and the AOE circle is where to send them?  That probably makes the most sense...and would agree with your comment about rushing the other side of the battlefield.

some clarification?   Thanks.

You have a link for the discussion on Goad being bugged?  I checked the 360 and ps3 tech forums and didn't see it....

I read about it earlier this morning. I'll check and edit in the link here when I find it.

Edit:  Here's the link (there's a thread in the 360 support forum called "Goad glitch?" which links to this thread).

Straight from Bioware's Luke Barrett: "Both Goad and Armistice rogue abilities do not currently work on Console due to an issue with the targeting mechanic."
