Would appreciate just a yes or no answer without spoilers.

Just started act 3 and entered Hawke's house. Started the conversation with Merill about going to her house in the alienage, got the quest "a talking to" that tells me to go talk to her there. When I get there shes crying in front of her mirror about something that happened to the dalish or something?

Is this a bug?

Anyone past this point that can tell me if this is what's supposed to happen?

No that is not supposed to happen (but the same happened to me). This scene is supposed to happen a bit later.

**BIG SPOILERS FOR MERILL'S STORY BELOW**

If you help Merill fix the mirror, eventually she will have to return to the Dalish camp to summon a demon. At this time the Keeper is killed, along with (possibly) the entire group of elves. Afterward, you leave the area and Merill never mentions it again. Clearly the scene we saw early with Merill crying in front of the mirror "she's gone. they're all gone." Is meant to occur after returning to her home after these events. Just some sloppy scripting that will hopefully be patched soon (along with all the other broken quests!).

Don't want to read spoilers, does the scene happen again when it's supposed to?

I have the same problem (Merill's cutscene firing out of order), and I'd also like to know if her companion quest will start properly in Act 3.

I'm pretty sure that this problem can be avoided by not having a 100% relationship with Merill, but I don't have the script command to reduce it. If anyone has an answer for that, it would be appreciated as well.

Heh -- never under estimate the power of Google... :)

While you can't modify the relationship values (due to a bug in the debug script), you can force the 3rd act companion quest to start. Now that I know that the quest can be triggered manually (if need be), I'll go ahead and continue to play normally until the quest is *supposed* to be triggered (after completing the main line quest "On the Loose", according to the strategy guide). I'll report back on whether or not it the quest starts normally or not.

Might try that method with a rogue save file - Merrill crying for no reason about demons makes me think she turned suddenly bipolar after asking her to move in, which is every man's nightmare.

Even with the console I can't get the quest to work without seeing that scene early.

Oh, wow, this is great. I think I didn't even help her fix that mirror.
Then I'm all "Okay, what a horrible bug" and proceed to do Ander's "Justice" guest where he starts questioning
SPOILERs
Merrill's demon and such.

Seriously, I wasn't expecting to get spoiled by the damn game itself.

About this event which occurs earlier than it's supposed to (and assumes you killed the elves): is it actually supposed to be the end of Merrill's quest line?
