Heyas all!

I just played a few hours with a warrior specializing in two-handed weapon combat and I always thought we were getting loot based on our classes. Now I feel like my Hawke is getting no love in regards to his weapon of choice, actually he is carrying a battleaxe with 13dmg +9% physical damage and he startet out with a mercenary greatsword doing 6 dmg which if you compare it against Avelines longsword seems to be an oversized butterknife since her much smaller blade does the same amount of damage than that greatsword...

Well now I thought I might find some useful two-handed weapon if I play a bit more but up till now no love for two-handed weapons. I do find lots of bows and staves for a mage. Well then I went to the Bone Pit und killed that Mature Dragon (first encounter were you need to do tactics, well at least if having a 6 dmg points weapon) and guess what it dropped for me!?!

Swarm - A shortbow and well the mightiest weapon I saw till now in DA2 (handing out over 70 dmg per second wtf my battleaxe is doing 21dmg per second)

So my questions: Is my game bugged? Can I expect to at least get a half decent weapon before finishing Act1?

I don't know if it's a bug, but I notice that too. I'm playing as a mage, and my equipment drops don't seem especially tailored to me, either. Particularly when it comes to armor that doesn't make me look like an idiot. The Spiral Eye set is the first thing I come across with an item set bonus, and you had to go and make the hood have some kind of stupid feather duster tuft on top? But I digress...

Make sure you check shops. You'd probably be surprised how often you find fairly decent things there (as opposed to DA:O's shops' endless crateloads of generic weapons), especially if, as you say, you haven't upgraded your stuff in quite awhile.

Double edit: As for DPS, keep in mind that damage isn't going to be equal across all class weapons.  2h weapons probably have lower DPS than a bow because 2h warriors can now attack in arcs and damage multiple enemies.  So if you were doing 70 DPS at that level, it would be pretty ridiculous.  It's less game-breaking for a bow to do that, because archer rogues are built to be mostly single-target damage-dealers, while 2h warriors are out there scything and tremor-ing and slashing everyone in the face at the same time.

Okay you have a good point there I was not taking the fact of arcs into account while wondering about the DPS. But it still feels somewhat silly that a longsword would cause the same or higher amount of dmg if using a greatsword, though I agree that this might be necessary to balance the game especially if we see how fast Hawke can swing a two-handed weapon.

You will find all sorts of weapons, mainly b/c you can upgrade your party member's weapons (except for Varric).... however, any armor you get that is not tailored to your class is vendor trash since you can't upgrade party member's armor with drops....

That being said, I am having a hell of a time finishing armor sets... I have 2 pieces of Descent armor (Armor & boots), 3 pieces of the E-word armor (Armor, gloves, Helm) (can't remember the name off top my head), and 3 pieces of Champion armor (Armor, gloves, & boots)... For the life of me I haven't been able to find the missing pieces....

Also, anyone ever find out what that "special" rune does that Sandal gives you?

last descent first chapter found helm the enemies among us quest line of that crazy witch with the white lip stick. The gloves are on the way up the mountain in a chest on when you first get merril

ok, now I'm in Act 3 and I can't find the champion helm to save my life. Anyone know where it is?
