The game glitched my armor to 97%, how do I get it back down to normal?

I play as a warrior using sword and shield. I finally found another shield that looked cool so I swapped it in. It had some different special effects though, so I wasn't quite sure which one I like more. So I switched between them a bit looking at how they differed. Then I noticed that one of the special abilities was "+ X armor" and I wondered if that was on top of the armor value listed above or if it was already included. So I switched again and checked my armor value.

That's when I noticed it didn't go down, even if I switched to an inferior shield. As soon as you equip a different shield, your armor value goes up no matter what. And since I'd already swapped around between the different shields trying to decide which one to get, my armor value was now up to 97%...

How do I get it back down? I don't want to play with a glitched out super high armor value, that'll suck all the challenge out of the game.

Do you have a previous save before you started comparing shields? I believe you are running into an known issue where armor bonuses stack.

Supposing I didn't, would that mean there's no way for me to bring it back down?

Now you know why aveline is such a good tank - every time you upgrade her shield she keeps most of the armour from the last one plus the new one.

Have you tried specing out of sword and board into something else? It might correct itself if you've got no points in sword and shield. (Though I just saw a thread saying they were having skills stick after respecs, so idk).

If you do this it doesn't correct it.  In fact you'll likely end up with extra skill points and spec points - I've re-spec'd my warrior twice and have 11 extra skill points and 3 specialisations..

LMAO that something this ridiculous wasn't caught in testing. What do your testers actually do BioWare? They sure don't play the game!

This, the respeccing glitch (free skill/spell points for Hawke!) and the infinite xp/money glitch all seem like things that should have been caught.
