Those last two boss battles made me question the sanity of the dev department, Meredith's battle was understandable and inevitable, but what the sod was up with those statues?! Most of the statues seemed unnecessary, well save for the templar ones and maybe the larger slave statues but after a while I was hoping the battle would end soon. Orsino's battle seemed unnecessary in the first place whether you're with the templars or the mages. He didn't even seem that bad of a guy through out the game but to become that which he hated, a blood mage? Besides that, I was rather content with the ending given all the wtf moments I had through out my playthroughs.
Statues coming to life only makes sense if the design team had been shooting some LSD. I don't blame the dev team per se, but the design team, yes.
As for Orsino, I think they just wanted to basically say both templars and mages can be evil (following up O supporting the blood mage in act 2 that killed your mother.)
