I got the KOTOR2 feel but it was worse as the exile kind of had reason to leave. Where as my character had a mansion, hot wife, and a good shot at being ruler... but he leaves.. why?

Ah yes. those Grey Warden's you meet. They certainly sound like they have important business.

Then at the end, it's mentioned the Warden and the Champion are missing. Something big is happening. And it will be forever till we know. I do think it ended just a bit early.

And this is only speculation; Maybe Flemeth or Morrigan have something to do with the disappearances as i get the feeling both Warden and Champion are just pawns of their game, and what about grey wardens brief appearance in Kirkwall, saying that " theres more pressing matters at hand and they cannot tell us about it?"

Call me crazy but there is something about that moment that made me go  and get shivers down my spine.
Pretty weird and creepy.

The ending just felt cheap, kinda like they took the easy way out,  I feel like the replay value of this game drops significantly with the ending its got. :/

In Laidlaw's last interview with Eurogamer, he did hint that there would be a lot more endings like that ie "......to be continued" (the 'yay, whet's next?' quote). Whilst I understand he wants to turn the franchise into some sort of soap opera, where you have to keep tuning in (ie buying more dlc/expansions/sequels) to know "what happens next", I personally prefer a game to be more or less rounded off as a standalone.

The odd companion "unsolved mystery" would be OK for one dlc. But main plots need a good conclusion IN ONE GO. I don't want to have to get Dragon Age 12 to find out what Morrigan's plan REALLY was back in Origins.

I'll tell you whats next. ****load of DLCs to make sure EA has milked you completely dry.

This seems to be Bioware's shtick with the Dragon Age series in general. Remember how they sold us Witch Hunt as a DLC to finally conclude the story and it didn't have a proper ending either? I'll bet they do the same with DA2. I think they're playing a dangerous game with that, however: At first, it will keep players buying new stuff because they finally want to know where the story leads. However, if Bioware does it too often, players may start to realize that there won't ever be an ending no matter how much money they spend, and then they'll just stop buying.

Is Leliana the Divine of the Chantry aka the “Pope” of all the Chantries? Because if so Bioware opened a whole new can of worms without explaining Morrigan's ending in DA:O and Witch Hunt and Flemeth’s involvement early on in Dragon Age 2. Unless they plan on tying in Morrigans/Hero of Ferelden child with Dragon Age 3 while Leliana is the Divine. God so many unanswered questions, sadly this was not even close to an open and shut ending, Dragon Age: Origins at least had that although not completely it was solid enough.

Like someone else said the wardens you meet during the Qunari uprising said there is a much greater problem than what was going on. I suspect Commander Shepard is involved and someone has activated a Mass Relay in Thedas there by transporting the Warden and The Champion to another planet, just saying…

I totally agree with this, and if that's really the route Bioware is taking for all of their games, then they've definitely lost a customer in me.  It's a blatantly exploitative direction to go in --- where releasing a rushed, unsatisfying and incomplete game is the new normal and players need to shell out significantly more for DLC and closure.

I guess I did pay happily for ME2 and DA:O DLC, but my disappointment with my DA2 pre-order just makes me irritated at their entire business model.

It almost seems like with DA2, it's an experiment, and they're testing the waters as far as how mediocre and rushed they could release a game while compensating for it with an intense marketing blitz and bought gaming reviews (PCGamer - "RPG of the decade" even though we're not even three months into the decade, lol?).

If DA2 and its DLC still sell, then I'm sure they'll feel absolutely justified in shorter development cycles and half-assed games.

I hated the fact that it doesn't matter if you side with templers or mages the story at the end doesn't change that much. If you side with templers same thig happens if you side with mages.

well im one of the people that hate the sequel but this time i have to tell you something to defend bioware in this...

Complete different ending mean an hard work with storyline in sequel a drastic change like that whitout spoil nothing requires two different beginings for the sequel.. Maybe for the storyline is time to change i don't see that as a negative fact... Is very hard combine two total different endings this because when you make the sequel you have to find something that fits the storyline in both parts.. And this is really an hard work... A thing is make variability on the ending a thing is make 2 total different ending that can cause different storylines for the sequel...

My english isnt perfect i hope you understeand what i mean

This topic is so funny. None of you have seen the actual ending because they havent sold it to you as DLC yet. Thats obvious once you load a save after what passes as the ending currently.

This ending is why i consider dragon age 2 truly a dragon age 1.5, a transition game in gameplay and story... but damm don't close nothing and i sure i don't buy dlc or expansion, 60 bucks to buy a not closed game make me angry.
This is only to prepare the story for dragon age 3, in all they parts, but i have payed for a full game, in dragon age origins the close the story of ferelden with some doors open, now they have all the doors opened and nothing closed:
Flameth? no
The mysterius thaig? no
Kirkwall? no
Say me something closed by this endings...

Never the problem mage/templars his closed, only open a big new one.

This game was far and away better than DAO. the ending is a bit odd with a real to be continued feel but thats okay because i'd enjoy a DA3. The characters, and the story were much more detailed, and it was fun to explore. The only weakness really is same 12 or 13 locations for everything in the game. It was an awesome game through and through

The ending was terrible.
*RANT*
First of all, in a game that was supposed to be based around choice, I would have chosen to not have my character flee kirkwall like a *****. Next, after almost 3 full play throughs, the game doesn't change. Your choices make no real difference to the story line. So basically one of their biggest selling points around this game was a lie. Not to mention the ending was just as pathetic as the story line and the NPCs (except Verric, and MAYBE fenris if they can make him stop being an emo elf teen).

I personally liked the ending it keeps you guessing. Companies want to sell games so to make sure they buy the product they want to keep ypu hanging. As for people wanting to save Verric, he never eally needed saving. The seeker wants to stop the war betwwen the templars and mages. Obviously they kept both stories open ended for whatever big plans they have. No one really knows what happens to the Warden after he/she meets Morrigan again. Now the champion is missing as well. I cant wait to see what happens next :D As for the game itself it was pretty good just not as good Origins.

I was very satisfied with the game as a whole. I can only think of ways to praise it; however, the cliff hanger ending is eating me alive! Gah! But that's not a flaw, just good writing in my opinion. I could see how people would be dis-pleased with the fact that the story really doesn't change no matter who you choose to aid, but there could be a reason for that in the long run. It's a serious event, and I trust Bioware to do something magnificent with it!

After finishing the game, I thought that the whole thing felt like a prologue, like Bioware constantly teasing like a mouse on a wheel chasing after a hanging cheese, all throughout the acts. I understand that the whole thing was how the champion became, well, a champion in Kirkwall, but I don't know... everything felt sorta rushed and unfulfilled.

I loved that one idea where the champion breaks down the door, busts some heads(knockout Cassandra... I like her, hope she's a LI in a future DLC) and saves Varric then the story continues where the champion takes the throne of Kirkwall.

All in all, DLC insanity will ensue in the coming future so BW can finally finish the game. People will complain... but will still get the DLCs. Here's hoping the contents are fleshed out, cheap and .most importantly, fulfilling.

OMG!!! the twist at the end is just EPIC. *spoiler* To Leliana "Where is the Champion?" "Gone, same as the Warden." What is going to happen next!!!! BAD BAD tease. This was the most mind blowing story telling in any series of games.

But grrrr... we still need to know what happened to Morrigan, Flemeth, ect. I sure hope the writers eventually give us closure.
