Uh can someone explain to me what the heck was going on in this quest? I understand that the chained Qunari is a mage, but what are the intentions of Patrice, and who the heck were those other Qunaris?

Patrice wants to bring the 'savage' behavior of the Qunari to light. She set up that encounter completely. The others were no one in particular.

Lol! I remember looking at the one in her chest and going "Huh...", only to have that fateful arrow make me go "Oooh...".

From what remember, Patrice acquired the Qunari mage somehow, and set up the situation so that you would encounter the Arvaarad. Her goal was for you to get killed in the meeting, thus demonstrating the violent nature of the Qunari. She wanted to turn the people of Kirkwall against the Qunari because she believed they were a corrupting influence who were taking people away from the maker.

She is, also, a very bad person

i found out there is a boot of the fallen in this quest in a chest in the undercity caverns but none of the chests have it can anyone help?!!??!?!

When you go through the generic choke point with the mine shafts on either side? It's on your left hand side (between mine shaft and the wall). Easy to miss if you're not hunting hard. I got lucky.
