First Act money question

Okay, sorry if there are other threads about this, I deliberately did not look at other threads to stay away from spoilers. I have a couple of questions--

Is it possible to spend too much money and then not be able to get the 50 sovereigns the dwarf needs for his expedition, and then not be able to continue the game? Or is there some contingency for that? Because I see this Tome I'd like to buy...

Also, if I don't buy the Tome of Technique from the merchant in Hightown in the first act, will the merchant still have the tome in the second act? If I do buy it, will he have another one?

I'd like to keep the spoilers to a minimum, please.

edit: Also, is it possible to get Sebastian or Isabela in this first act? Again, preferably just "yes" or "no" for either one.

I believe you can farm gangs of random assailants (walk around various areas at night, especially lowtown, hightown, and the docks, and you'll get jumped) They will each drop a relatively small amount of silver. I've also heard that there's someone in the Hanged man you can talk to to get rewarded for killing the gangs. Something like 2 gold a time. Not a tremendous amount, but it'll add up.

Don't worry, if you don't have enough gold eventually a certain quest will appear as you get closer to finishing all the side quests in Act I.

You'll still be able to get to the Deep Roads.

Yeah, i heard something about there being a quest where you can get a loan? You get the 50 gold you invest in the expedition back at the very beginning of act 2, so you don't actually lose the money. I imagine if you take the loan, you don't get this.
