After reading reviews that said this game's Hard was equivalent to the first game's Normal (on PC), I attempted to play through on Hard. I died 10 times during the first boss fight with the Ogre.
My main party member is a thief (dagger specialist). Since the ogre kills one of your warriors, you're left with 1 sword & shield warrior, one mage and one thief. I find this impossible on Hard. Best I could do was kill the ogre and then die to the reinforcements.
Note that I even took my ability trees immediately before that specifically to win that fight, and it did no good.
Are you forced to run a bow thief to win on Hard, or some other class altogether? I can't imagine trying it with two mages and a warrior there.
I imagine Nightmare mode is unwinnable here!
First boss battle impossible on Hard?

You can't do it with 2 mages and a warrior. There's no way to have two mages in your party at that time. you'll always have a warrior (aveline) and a mage (either bethany or yourself). The only possible class combos are 2 war/1 mage or one of each.
I haven't run through this as a rogue yet, though I did try in the demo (on normal) and couldn't manage it either. I'm sure it's quite doable, just much harder than with a warrior.

It's easy, just kite the ogre. Switch to whoever pulls aggro and run around while the others whittle away at his hp and use your skills to drop the minions.

put aveline on the ogre while you kill the hurlocks. In DA2, unless it's a mage, you have to kill the boss' minions first.
that's one reason walking quickly is good, as there are quite a few waves.

I forgot about the kiting tactic that was so handy in DA1!
Anyone attempted this fight on Nightmare?
