Just finished the game. The game and the ending was EPIC. I'd love to see my Lady Hawke sailing with Isabela though <3

Well, in our final conversation she said I should come on her ship with her. I answered that I could never leave Anders and she was like bring him along. Albeit this was before his slight...indiscretion.

The ending was epic and when the Chantry blew I up I literally went WTF. I also hope my love interest isn't ignored in the next games and that I get my sister back.

I don't know if this has been said yet, but the only thing I could think of at the ending was holy crap...

And Avengers. A team of superheroes for some planet wide crises or something.

Yes, but it left me with questions spawning everywhere...

What was Cassandra planning? Will they find Hawke? How do they think Hawke can fix this? How is the Warden involved? How are Hawke and the Warden connected? What happens next? What's going onnnnn?
I hope we get some expansion... Will Dragon Age 3 have a new character? How will they be connected to Hawke and the Warden? Could Dragon Age 3 just be about Hawke and the Warden, considering they both disappeared? Is Dragon Age 3 just about Hawke?

And the burning question...
Will we get answers?

Did anyone else notice that the original relic found had a very similar shape and appearance to how Meredith ended up? Coincidence, I think not. Maybe she's not dead after all. O_O

You know, I was wondering why they kept focusing on her scary-ass corpse. And that it looked like an idol. Does she become the new idol? If so, was the previous idol a reaaaally tiny person? xD

Ending was good, my fav DA char of all time made a cameo which is super fun.

I think I can do without an xpac though. I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to run through the same coastline and caves 50 more times. Not even sure I can play it again for a couple of months until i wash the taste of those recycled maps out of my mouth.

Interesting how one of our most unanimous complaints about the DLC became a staple in DA2...

Just beat it, took me 54 hours. I sided with the mages since even if you do side with the Templar's the commander is still crazy.

Anders. . .you little ****** you <.< if you weren't the only healer(Whats up with that Bioware?) I would have so killed you, but seeing as I never used Seb anyways no real lost I suppose.

Don't know if DA3 will still be about Hawke but one thing is for sure we are going to Orlais next.

Maybe the opening will be Hawke getting off of Izzy's ship that seems like a good place to start.

I'll agree with Valus, the expansion had better have original area design and less if no repetition.

I liked it as a whole, but I took issue with specific parts of the story. For example, the first enchanter going all abomination on me felt forced. I think Bioware just wanted you to fight a meaningful boss battle and threw his character under a bus.

I understand that they didn't want to make either side seem like the "right" or "good" choice, but I felt they could have handled it better. Maybe alter the ending to show that saving him had long term negative or dubious consequences.

I was friends with Isabela but wasn't involved with her (Probably the only person in Thedas who hadn't been.)
Thoughts?

I got that too even though I romanced Anders and told him I was going to go into hiding with him. I think the reason I got to stay with Isabela is that I agree to be part of her pirate crew (despite saying BUT WHAT ABOUT ANDERS?? and she told me I could bring him along). I hope if there's going to be a DAIII and I play as Hawke again, they won't make me lose Anders. >E I invested too much time into staying dedicated to that mess.

Heyyy good point actually. I denied that request. (:

I'll admit that I did bang Isabela and told her it was just fun time. After that I gave everything to Merrill, and got a wierd "except Merisabela."

Just finished and thought the whole thing was just wonderful!

So many questions about what happens next though. Can't wait! BioWare is killing me between this and Mass Effect...

I loved that nothing really was black or white in this story. In Origins it is very, very clear- the darkspawn and Archdemon are bad. In DAII neither side was completely good or evil. My Lady Hawke sided with the mages (she is very pro-mage seeing how her father, sister, and boyfriend are all mages) but I could still see where the Templars were coming from.

My biggest gripe was losing Isabella after Act II. She and Hawke were pretty good friends...but apparently not good enough! That and Fenris...I thought I would like him (thought I'd romance him too) more. I understand his past and all that...but his 100% anti-mage views made it impossible to get along with. His ending...made me super sad. ):

Basically...DAII was pure win (with a couple of minor complaints thrown in)! I don't get where all the hate is coming from...

Just finished it now, and I absolutely loved the ending.

Okay, well, to be fair, not the ENDING. I get this horrible sinking feeling we're going to play as Hawke again, just from how it ended, and let me tell you, if I could have ONE WISH for DA3, it's to play as neither Hawke nor the Warden. I don't WANT to pick up those characters in a new place without any of their friends or lovers or families. I want my Warden to be having adventures with Zevran. I want my Hawke to be hiding from the Inquisition with Fenris. That's what I want!

But that's not really what we're talking about here. We're talking about the ending SEQUENCE of EVENTS. And if you ask me, it was possibly the BEST done ending sequence I've ever seen.

I complained so much about the lack of REAL moral dilemnas in DA:O. There was always a lame "save everybody, go home happy" option that took the teeth off every choice. Even the ones without compromises tended to come down to morality vs. pragmatism. But holy hell, in DA2? The choices are HARD, they're MEATY, and they make you THINK. The entire last few hours are just a whirlwind. I chose the templars, because it was in character for my Hawke, but for me, myself? I don't know WHAT was right. I'm sitting here trying to figure out WHO I side with.

What Anders did was heartbreaking. My character never saw eye to eye with him, but *I* loved him, and I couldn't believe what he'd done. Elthina was the only person in Kirkwall worthy of living, and she was the one who was martyred. I really didn't even know how to PROCESS what happened, it affected me so much. Much like Leandra's death in Act 2, I needed a minute to just sit in my chair reeling and marinating. NOTHING in DA:O made me FEEL so much as that.

I think people wanted to see a big epic victory over an indisuptable evil in a conveniently killable inside out dragon. It doesn't feel as "satisfying" to kill a woman who doubts that she's doing the right thing with her last breaths. But it makes you THINK. DA2 is so thematically dense, I can't even wrap my mind around it.

I have some complaints with the game. The reused areas didn't bother me, but I can see why they're lazy and bother people. I really wish there were options to just have conversations with your party members outside of their quests -- they felt less meaty than they did in Origins. Not the characters, but the options for interacting with them. And I would have liked to have seen more satisfying endings for the individual characters -- though thank you for mentioning our love interest in the ending narration, I was worried we wouldn't get that. And yeah, I do wish it ended less on a "COMING UP NEXT: THEDAS GOES TEVINTER AND FERELDEN WARS WITH ORLAIS" sort of note.

But this game is SO much more complex, SO much more deep, SO much more dense than DA:O. I adored DA:O, absolutely loved it, and before DA2 I considered it the best written game of all time.

Well, not anymore.

**** the haters, I will defend Mister Gaider and the rest of the team until I'm blue in the face. Dragon Age 2 is literature, and if people can't handle that, well.

Actually, Jman5, I think Orsino's character is chillingly consistant. If you read the note from the Circle in Quinten's hideout before the revelation with Leandra, his connection was FAR FAR more invested than he tried to make it seem. He was thoroughly thrilled with the experimentation, and was providing Quinten with resources to continue his little "project."

Orsino was a bastard, just like Meredith and everybody else in this city.

Hell yes I loved the ending! I just finished my first playthrough! It was EPIC!!
---SPOILER ALERT---

When Leliana and Cassandra said at the very end, "He's gone, just like the Warden", I remembered my Warden going through the portal with Morrigan. Also, was really psyched that my woman Isabella never left my side...Man, it was just awesome. Bioware, you guys rule. Simply put, very well done. My only issue would be the bugs in the game, but I know they'll be fixed in due course. Something huge is going to culminate from the Warden's and Hawke's story up ahead. It's going to be awesome. Cheers guys.

I absolutely loved the ending! Gotta love those moments before the epic battle ensues when you get to have a heart to heart with your companions :) And I MANsqueed when Varric mentioned that Merrill remained with me

The ending left me wanting more. I know its a lot to hope for, but with Cassandra mentioning the disappearance of Hawke and The Warden, I really want to see them in the future.

But yes, I loved the ending ^_^

The problem with DA2's plot is that the moral dilemmas are too much of an asspull. Maybe some of us knew Meredith was being driven mad by the artifact, or that Orsino was really secretly a fan of blood mages, but I didn't find out until THE MOMENT IT HAPPENED.

Bioware, don't bury this stuff in notes or Codex entries. Not all of us read that, and by not putting this important stuff in, it makes the story seem too abrupt.

Really the entire ending plot just felt like tragedy struck due to the entire city of Kirkwall holding a massive Idiot Ball.

Edit: Apparently my game bugged, because Varric said ISABELA stayed with me, when I didn't romance her--in fact, she was very unfond of me--I chose Merrill... and she didn't stay with me? WTF.

I think you're missing the point. The most important theme of the mages vs. templars aspect of DA is that you can never know someone's heart. You can INFER that Orsino is a hobbyist blood mage -- from the note in the Leandra quest. You can INFER that Meredith is being driven mad by the idol -- from an offhanded remark in Varric's personal quest.

But you're not SUPPOSED to know for certain, not until you look back over the game and everything falls into place. You didn't know if Meredith was insane or intense. You didn't know if Orsino was twisted or desperate. Just like you can't tell a blood mage from a normal mage until they start mindcontrolling and summoning demons. Yeah, there are two hints that you can infer from, but this isn't supposed to be a choice that you go into.

The choice you're making isn't about Meredith's influence by the idol, and it isn't about Orsino's dabbling in blood magic. It's about whether your character thinks that the Templars had the right to excercise the Right of Annulment, and if they didn't, is it worth upsetting hundreds of years of religious tradition to fight them off.

Not really an asspull, considering it's where we're been heading since "There are a lot of Templars in Kirkwall, Mother."

I'm right with you.

The last few hours of the game were very intense.  I was completely shocked - (SPOILER) - when Anders nucked the Chantry.

What Bioware managed to create was a Universe where neither is right or wrong and because of that everything does really feel that's about to go downhill. I honestly don't know HOW that situation could be solved, this will not be fixed by simply putting a big sword over someone's head..

They wanted to show us what true chaos is, and in my honestly opinion they succeed.

I got 3 words for Bioware, Totally F* Sweet! I really can't wait for a big DLC/DA3 :).

How on earth can you side with the Templars? The last choice isn't morally grey AT ALL. The Templars are going to kill EVERY MAGE IN THE CITY, for crying out loud, *including* Bethany if she's still alive. I see no moral reason for killing Bethany or siding with the Templars to kill the rest of the mages, even IF you knew Orcino was a closet blood mage. In which case, so what? So is Merrill and that is no reason to just kill them/destroy their soul. The only reason Merideth gives is because, "The people of the city will demand vengeance and I will give it to them." She's an idiot, a clear cut evil villian, and it's so obviously a black and white issue that it just really disappointed me.

The lack of being able to talk to companions except when you gave gifts or advanced their plot was annoying, too. The simplistic inventory and re-used maps... how can someone say this is better than DAO? Because it's more colorful?
