Actually Grace and Alain were captured shortly after you freed them and are in the Gallows during Act 2. When you bump into her, she's actually very hostile and bitter towards you.

I think Grace b*tched that "you sent us off with a 2 minute head start, no food or supplies, I hate you and want you to go away" or something to that degree.

Essentially. Grace was recaptured, even if you did your best to try and help her escape, and regardless of the truth of the situation - she blames you. Over the years, this blame has turned into outright hatred, and by the time Act Three rolls around, she sees you as a symbol of everything that is wrong with the world insofar as mages are concerned.

Seriously?

I guess I never picked her out from the crowd. How do you get caught when everyone chasing you is dead?

edit: Ah well atleast that makes more sense. I guess you had to spot her and give her a click to get that little story tidbit. Or was there a scene I just straight up missed?

The simple answer is Meredith. Any apostate or blood mage is a challenge to her power and authority, and so even if it requires sending wave after wave of templars after them, she is going to catch them and bring them to what she sees as 'justice'. She's relentless.

In Act 2 she claims she and the others were hiding in the forest for three years. Apparently the templars never gave up looking for them (at least according to her), and she blames you for it. How she can blame the champion for getting caught THREE YEARS after the champion helped her escape is beyond me. But I guess when you're a psychopathic blood mage, anything goes.

I thought Thrask told Meredith the mages were dead? Ah well now I suppose I'm just nitpicking.

Knowing that Grace was recaptured covers the lost ground for me. That was really throwing me for a loop.

She reminds me of Akainu from One Piece its just her "justice" is for mages instead of pirates=].

"Who was "Quentin" who told Orsino about the ritual needed to become a harvester?"

Quentin: blood mage, cut your mother's head off to rebuild his dead wife.

Holy. Maker.

I had forgotten that was his name. I missed the tying together of that little thread.

Wow. Just, wow.

I just beat the game recently and i must say the ending blew me away. Like most are saying it was well done and makes me wonder how the Templar siding goes.
Now for Anders, i was personally about reading to kill him until Merrill, my love, suggested we let him redeem his action. When Sebastien threaten to come back with an army for Anders, i was like cool by the time you get back Anders is all yours lol.
I admit i felt betrayed siding with the mages, from the battles in the streets to Orsino spawning into that monster. Even through Meredith was choking the life out of the mages, i felt wronged by the ones the proved her right with Blood Magic. I know Merrill was my expection but i thought of it as not all can use Blood Magic and still be sane, she had the training to keep her from overstepping it in a way.
So yes i fully support the mages, i felt they were slaves to the Templars and Chantry since DA:O. I cant wait to see Thedas now with the state the Chantry and Templars are in from Cassandras last few lines with Varric.
Also I didnt catch the line that the Champion and Warden disappeared at the same time. Only the one that they had both disappeared and I must say one word Flemeth. There is no doubt in my mind she has a goal and they both were saved by her for a reason, not because she was being kind. She didnt save the Warden just to have him beat the Archdemon or she didnt help Hawke reach Kirkwall so Hawke could take her Amulet through the Dalish Ritual. Nor did she save Hawke so Hawke could become the Champion and destablized Chantry role. Those things that Hawke and Warden did only makes things easier on her with the plan she intends for them to be useful for.

It was such a good game! I'm still shocked from the ending.
It was a great improvement from the first game, I only wish there had been more areas to explore.
I feel like because I spent all my time going to the same places, the game wasn't long enough.
But I loved it!

Also, am I the only one who is in love with Anders:wub:?
He may be a psychopath, but he has a point and a good heart.
I think it's all Justice/Vengence's fault that he blew up the chantry.

I so hope there is an expansion pack or a third game.
Although I don't know if you'd be able to have both your Warden and Hawke... feels like it would be too forced.

Thoughts?

In my game, there were a lot of dead templars.  Since someone needed to explain to Meredith where all the dead bodies had come from, Thrask decided to pin the blame on Grace's group and let them go.  Alain went back with Thrask since he'd surrendered independently.

You can find Grace in the Gallows Courtyard in Act 2, off to one side of the main thoroughfare.  She's not happy to see you and makes it clear that she blames you for her capture.

I liked the ending as part of the story.
I mean I was involved with it and it just completely blew me away when the Chantry went BOOM! I was seriously surprised by what Anders had chosen to do. Sure I knew he was up to something but I didn't realize it was going to be that extreme.
It just didn't feel like an ending to me. After the battle I'd killed both mages and templars and then, I just left? The end? Seriously?
So I liked the events, just not as a conclusion to a story.

Loved the entire story.(gameplay I had some issues with, mostly just divergence from some of the less pointless RPG standards) I do think they were a wee bit too obvious with foreshadowing what Anders had done. I remember on his personal quest(I had him tell me it wasn't to remove Justice, don't know if that changed it) the Grand Cleric had said when Anders returned, "I hope you have found your balm." and I just shouted "NO!" at my TV, pun aside, it was just.... no... I was like so ready to kill him when he pulled that ****, I don't know why I didn't I figured that he could repent, but then when I do to the final battle he was still so intent on his whole tyraid about how this wasn't the end and I knew that I couldn't get behind that and yet, I stayed passive. I gave in and I regret it.

That is the power of good storytelling. That is the power of Bioware.

I loved the ending, so sue me says the OP

Me too.

The story stared out slow, but built and built for me. I just started my 2nd playthrough after a marathon over 5 days.

i like the ending because it really is a case of "**** just got real" as hawke is the centre of a civil war that shakes the fabric of societies view of enslaving mages which will be the background setup for DA3 however im more interested on the idol and the questions it brings where, who, what as this could be a greater issue than civil war as this seems to be linked to the darkspawns hearing singing voices of archdemons but this applies to everyone.

Also im also curious about sandal as i think he may be linked as he i clearly a dwarf who seems to practice magic.

Nope! Me too. Not as much as I loved Alistair, but still. The whole emo dark side revolutionary thing is too irresistable :P
Though I'd just given away my own (temporary) cat the same day I started playing, and then when Anders said he had to give up Ser Pounce-A-Lot I nearly cried :(

Ran off with him to become a fugitive :D Sadly since he's killable in a major plot-important way (unlike in awakenings) I suppose that means we won't have him back again with Hawke in DA3 :(

I loved the ending overall, myself. Had flaws, but I wasn't bothered by them. Anders blowing up the chantry was awesome (because it shocked me, and I was horrified, well done writers). Viva la revolución! Fighting the statues was cool. Curious about the comment about both the Warden and Hawke mysteriously disappearing - I really hope that does go somewhere in DA3. Cassandra and Leliana as companions maybe?

I've only played through the once so far, so I'm looking foward to seeing how much things change depending on my actions. I certainly felt like I was having an influence on things, so it remains to be seen if I really was :)

For those that enjoyed DA2's story, I don't hesitate to recommend George R R Martin's Ice and Fire series of books. Though I'd wager we'll get some closure on DA2's "ending" before GRRM publishes the next book in HIS series.

Which is also being made into a TV series by HBO "The Game of thrones".

Cast looks good Sean Bean is Eddard Stark.

After finishing, the ending to me was just eh. I liked the final quest but for it to end that way did not sit well with me. Plus, I was expecting a lot more reference to my imported file than I got. I imported my Witch Hunt dlc file and it didn't seem to effect much. To be honest, I just wish they did a direct sequel. I got sick of being in only Kirkwall the whole game especially after playing DAO which had a much larger map and many many more areas to explore. I can see myself playing through this maybe one more time but thats about it whereas I played DAO 4 times all different characters and had a blast everytime and the story changed and the characters acted different. This game and especially the ending just feels way too much of EA's influence, they like Activision force developers to meet ridiculous deadlines on franchises they know will make them big money so this is what we get, a much shorter game, less developed characters, and an ending that makes you have to wait who knows how many months of years to see whats going to happen. I really pray they go back to the Wardens story cause even though he didn't talk, he was much better to play as and the ending to DAO was also much much better as there was a ceremony, thanks from everyone, and then info as to what your actions throughout did to Ferelden.

I sound harsh I know, I did enjoy DA2 but not nearly as much as I enjoyed DAO and the ending to this game made me even more let down. Hope Bioware goes back and plays DAO and sees what made that game great and then do that again with 3. And if EA says they want the next DA game within a year say Hell No, and find a different publisher. Your more than well known in the gaming community now and you don't need EA. When EA takes over we as gamers suffer too much.

I didn't really like the ending, but I didn't hate it either. I sided with the Mages, so why did Orsino attack me? I was a blood mage, so why was I constantly getting attacked by blood mages? I guess demons are to blame for all of this but, it just didn't make much sense. Also, I see people mentioned Quentin... there was a not from "O" in the Killer's lair, so it was obvious that Orsino had some connection to him, but why wasn't Hawke able to bring that up? Whatever... no point in nit-picking. The ending was decent, and it wrapped up well. Varric's interrogation made sense, etc, etc, etc...

The only part of the ending that I really loved was having Carver fight at my side once more. That was awesome, even if he still wasn't that much fun to hang out with.

I loved the ending.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about it was the comment about how "The Warden is missing as well. That can't be coincidence". Uhm... no, because my Warden died.

I loved the story itself, just did not like how the idol thing was done. The game itself was all too short in my opinion and could have used another act. I could not kill anders for what he did either but oh I had my fun killing templars that deserved it. Cullen I have to say I am proud of him actually standing against meredith before you fight her. Plus the Harvestor near the end was kind of a thrown in there boss.

I loved the game, I loved the ending and I'm not understanding all the hate. I guess people are just assuming the game would be something far different from what Bioware does best, its not an open world Oblivion clone nor is it a complected strategy. It's an emotional tale of the gain and loss the champion of kirkwall experienced in the brutal events that lead to a war, if you don't have the patience or immersion to get something out of that then Bioware probably hates you too.

That's the Orlesian Warden-Commander from Awakenings if the Origins Warden died ;)
