I think the expected lvl is 24-27 depending.....could be lower if you don't do any side quests....might be higher if you do absolutely everything and just cruise the lowtown at night.

It depends on what kind of playthrough you do. I did evil for my first run, I beat it in about 16 hours and did every side quest I could, ending at level 21. However, since I tried to be as evil as possible, I would often cut off people in the middle of their speeches to kill them. I am in Act III of my Good playthrough and I've already nearly hit the 16 hour mark, so there are way more quests when you play good. Also, my Mage is 16 or 17.

Then again, I did hours of sidequests in act 1 and got so sick of them that I blitzed the rest of the game, ignoring pretty much all other sidequests.

Either 22 or 23, I wasn't paying attention. I just know combining Beserker's Beserk talent combined with the Reaver's Blood Frenzy (the only reason I took up Reaver) sprinked with plenty of Stamania potions makes scary two-handed AoE Monster. Especially if that AoE Monster has plenty of AoE support fire via Merrill and Varric, as well as a few buffs from Anders (Aura Armor, Heroic Aura, Elemental Weapon).

I was 24 and I did all the quests (and did some grinding too as I was exploring like 40 times the Kirkwall at night for some random encounters...)

The soft cap is 25 according to bioware. The average level of people who do everything is 23-24.

How did you get that?  Constantly go to each area at night or something?

Is that even possible? I thought after awhile the encounters stop and you recieve a mini quest to weed out the headquarters of the gang thats been hounding the streets. I did that for every new chapter and ended up at level 24 by the end.

25, almost 26 as a rouge, EVERY quest, including Exiled Prince DLC (I know every quest, I checked the strategy guide). There is few thousand XP difference (maybe one level) in total depending on how long you let a few fights drag on for, extra spawns ect.. but it seems 25 is normal. Don't forget though you have a few tomes and potions for attributes and talents, more with black emporium.

It might be possible to get a higher level than what should be possible if you equip every character with XP+ items.

I did almost all the side quests. I think I missed 2 or 3 of them.

23 did all the sidequests in acts 1/2 did some in the 3rd but didnt do the high dragon
