I've only played DA: O and DA 2. In the first one I had a relationship with Liliana and my Warden died at the end. I imported the save to DA 2 and at the end Liliana shows up saying the Warden is missing. Did I come back from the dead? Someone Help me get rid of the confusion.

That's the problem when the dev fail to acknowldge that some people don't buy DLC or certain DLC. I had the same problem too. I had no idea who this warden was, until someone told me it's the DLC Awakening's Orlesian Warden Commander, if your warden died in DAO.
It will continues to be a big problem in DA 3 if the status and identity of the warden cannot be verified. It easily to confuse between the Hero of Ferelden and the Orlesian Warden Commander since both exist in the same universe played by the same player. So if DA 3 fail to acknowledge the Orlesian Warden Comannder and treated him/her as the Hero of Ferelden in any way, and either Alistair or Loghain appear, then Ultimate Sacrifice is clearly forfeited and DR/OGB plotline is the canon.

Yup there's a lot of confusion about how the Warden's timeline interacts with the DA:2 timeline.

I just hope they have something planned that makes sense and links the stories of imported saves.

how i think they should bring the warden back and hawke is this,.your wardens personality is voiced by your cations in origins give us all a male elf male human female elf ect. while your actions as hawke well hes already voiced XD than you play them as well as a new protagonist the new protagonist is your main charcter while you find the warden and hawke depending on what you do and how you played the older games will depend on how you get warden and hawke into party
