I understand how important story is for a game based on the D&D system (and for most RPGs) and yet I also find the appeal behind action-oriented modules, with little regard for story-driven gameplay.
One option I would love to see is a module modeled after TorchLight. Picture a solo PC (or a party too) with a town full of different merchants and quest givers as a safe haven, and a simple zoning option such as the one used by the aforementioned game, with vendors selling different portals to different areas for some good old action and treasure-hunting. Some merchants might even offer a variety of bodyguards and minions that can be summoned as "henchmen".
I am just learning about modding so even though I feel eager to give this a try, I am still months away from actually making anything worth publishing, but even so, I would love to see any similar modules already out there to enjoy some mindless hacking and slashing. Any suggestions?
P.S. Infinite Dungeons comes to mind as well, but I didn't get the chance to play that much in NWN and would lvoe to see something similar in NWN2.

Maybe inintendedly so, but after the intro and first part Misery Stone is pretty hack'n'slashy, though still very atmospheric. No civilized diablo-like "hub", except for a somewhat hidden supplies seller you're pretty much on your own roaming a desolate undead-ridden demi-plane.

(shameless plug) My King's Festival campaign is a remake (re-envisioning) of a classic PnP module that has a very straight forward storyline and is basically a hack 'n' slash. I am testing the next release now which will triple its content (adding in the Queen's Harvest module). If you play what is currently available you can continue when the new version is released with the same party.

Return to White Plume Mountain
Path of Evil, Risen Hero, The Maimed God's Saga, and Trinity have lots of action but more dialog than Return to White Plume Mountain.

‘Murder in Dunlop’ got high marks for action and atmosphere but not much for story line. LOL
‘Fanglewood’ is being designed like that sort of. The first part of the campaign you find yourself in a small town just gathering information and doing side quest to building your party up.
BTW, if your thinking of making a mod I suggest you get started, aurora engine is not getting any newer.

... also 'Tomb of Horrors Revisited' is almost 100% H&S though I think there is a little conv in the begining for back ground.
