Blood Mage... lackluster

Now look at mages. No synergy at all (with the exception of blood mage). The closest thing is the Force Mages blackhole thing. That plus sustained AoEs is ok.
Blood Mage - It provides great synergies, you max out on sustainables from other trees, and get the blood magic gear to make your spells cost less, and when you use sigh of the maker you can put ZERO points into willpower and put em all into constitution. Thats what makes Blood Mage so powerful.
Except for armor.
For some reason all armor requires 2 stats to unlock. Warrior needs Str and Con (so my dps warrior needs a huge health pool for some reason???), rogues need dex and cun (lucky rogues, all rogues need dex and cun), mages need Mag and Wil.
Now that wouldnt be bad for a normal mage, but for a blood mage that is horrible. Instead of putting points into constitution to make your blood mage better at it you need to waste 20 points in willpower in order to be able to wear the best armor. That completely screws up the build. Why didnt Bio allow you to use constitution when you got blood mage active?
So why does Bioware hate mages and want them to suffer? You either sacrifice the cool armor or you sacrifice the ability to be a good blood mage.
Please fix this in a patch somehow bioware.

they probably put the other stat requirement to stop people from doing exactly what you want ot do. it'd be a bit overpowered and unbalanced if you could run every sustainable you wanted, have a huge health pool for casting spells and still be able to wear all the best stuff.
the double stat requirements make you chose
and don't you dare badmouth forcemage, that thing is absolutely awesome. suck everyone up, fist of maker, drop a fireball on them then run up and cone of cold. makes for lots of dead stuff real fast. also anytime enemies were attacking merril or varric or anders (anyone squishy that wasn't me) i'd telekentic burst them away giving the tank time to pick them up. force mage is AWESOME.

This is true. I was shocked by how effective blood magic truly is in this game. My mage had some serious mana issues before picking it up. After? Well, he never ran dry again. It doesn't hurt that hemorrhage is one of the best AoEs in the game and friendly fire friendly at that!Colma wrote...
You dont need that much constitution anyway. There is a ton of gear that has"1 more mana per 1 health" property and they stack. You will be getting 6-7 mana for 1 point of health later in the game from gear and blood magic skills.

My complaint as far as "lackluster" goes is blood slave. It seems like it's failing too often on "weak" baddies, and even when it succeeds it rarely kills them.
Why would I want to mind control one of the most worthless enemies just to have it work? I can take them out in two shots from Varric.

I loved blood mage in this game. I felt like I could keep the mode up 24/7 without detriment, unless I needed an emergency heal from Anders.

You get blood splatter and turn the blood slave into a walking bomb, so he runs back to his fellow grunts dies and blows them up with him. Quite effective
