It's number 2 and 4 for PC.  The PC sales are no slouch.  The console users aren't ecstatic about it (and I don't really blame them given the demo and lack of auto-attack).  PC's doing great, relatively.

Im sorry, but whomever is running Bioware is a complete moron, you try to make an RPG to get the COD crowd, even tho the COD for the most part doesnt give a crap about RPG's, a game that came out in November "cod black ops" outsold DA this month!!!

I think Mikey Laidlaw and crew are delsusional at best, honestly DA2 doesnt deserve to break the top 5 on any platform and it probably wont.

Hopefully they fire Mike and try to get Brent back to do the game some justice.

1. COD is a good, albiet different game. You demonstrate your ignorance when you try to bash it.

2. How on earth is DA2 like COD in anyway shape of form? In one game you follow a tightly scripted story in which there is zero customization, fight from a FPP, and rely extensively on multiplayer. They really have nothing in common, other than that they are both good games.

1. I didnt bash COD, I said it came out in Nov and its still sells better than a hyped up new release.
2. Bioware stated they are going after the COD crowd.

Anything else?

There was a good lineup at my gamestop for it... I think it's doing pretty well... except for the huge fanboys of the first one the game received positives reviews.

and seriously... Auto-attack is ridiculous, even on console. I don't want it and if it appear, I won't buy the third game unless I can deactivate it.

4.5 million...not 45 million :?

Still, even the 4.5 figure is exceedingly optimistic even by BioWare's standards.

Not saying it's impossible, but with so many other AAA games coming in 2011, especially from BioWare (in theory)...meh.

Good job not reading the article and only looking at the URL.

HULIQ projects sales of Dragon Age 2 will reach 3.25 million in six months and 4.5 million in twelve months.

For comparison purposes, Wedbush Securities analysts Michael Pachter shared his firm’s prediction, which is 2.5 million units in the first six months.

Solid data for lifetime sales of Origins is hard to come by, but
best estimates place lifetime sales across all platforms just north of 4
million units with 3 million of those coming within the first six
months.

Quotes are out of order, but they're all in the article.  One guy predicts that DA2 will sell just higher than DA:O, the other predicts it will sell less.  If anything, they support the fact that it's not selling great (especially for a sequel that should build on its predecessors success).  Those predictions are nowhere near 10 million (what Bioware considers successful according to one of their interviews)..

Yeah, I read it now, it just cracked me up.

Still, I've seen stranger predictions out of the crystal ball analysts.

Nice try troll. There is lots of customization in DA2. I could list all the different methods of customization there are, but that would take too long. Have you ever actually played either game? You look quite stupid making that comparison.

Anecdotally me and 5 friends who were ALL OVER DA:O are banning this game - and helping spread the hate!

Down with consolification, down with simplification, down with "accessibility".

Hopefully this game doesn't sell well - if it does RPGs are doomed to mediocrity for years to come. (Bioware's at least)

Stating that they are going after the COD crowd doesn't mean making it like cod. It isn't a shooter, isn't in first person perspective, has an inventory, leveling up, character creation, dialouge decisions, ect, ect ect.

It is literally the stupidest comparison you could make, and stems from the elitist belief that "popular equals bad"

I'm bored at work -- and if nobody speaks up the trend continues right?

I'm sorry you like this game; but I will be dedicating spare time to making sure Bioware knows that this "dumbed down" mantra needs to end.

Because of DAO's success, DAII will sell well. Many people such as myself got suckered into buying it on day 1. DAII is a good game, but not $60 + DLC $ good. $40 bucks would be a more reasonable price point given the amount of contents.

I'm not talking about game quality at all here.  I'm talking about game sales.  Selling the same as the original game is not successful for a sequel.  A successful sequel should outsell the original by a decent margin.  Why?  Because you should maintain your player base while adding more by making improvements that make it more accessible.  If your sales remain flat, it means either (A) You failed to bring in new players, or (B) You failed to maintain your player base.

I also brought up the 10 million sales mark.  There is an interview in which Dr. Zeschuk states that 10 million sales is their target.  If they're selling less than half that, they're going to be dissapointed.  http://www.psuni.com...ur-target-4195/

Well truth be told there are 3 different versions of DA2, so it isn't really surprising neither is in the top 5.

i fully expect the game to do well on consoles, like 500k on 360 and 300k on PS3 for March, i also expect it to hit the top 5 for March NPD since NPD now merges multiplatform numbers into one number

what will be curious is the PC sales which i expect to be down but never shown (only time a publisher ever reveals PC numbers is when they're surprisingly good)

I didnt compare them other than sales, I said BIOWARE has stated they want part of the COD market...
I play both games, my cod friends do not play DA games and have no interest in it.

I never once compared DA2 to COD gameplay wise, your trolling bro not me sorry.

Remaining silent equals accepting the dumbing down trend and that is simply unacceptable. Education is steadily dumbed sown, movies are dumbed down, games are dumbed down, soon we are past the point where the use of language for communication is still feasible and we as a society will have to revert back to communication based on more simple means. Sorry, that is not where I want to go. Caves and trees aren't very comfortable places to live in/on.
