A internet troll is someone uttering a contreversial statement to create a hell of a furious discussion.

Sales usually isn't a measure of Quality and an RPG -- however streamlined -- wil not beat CoD as is an old name in the industry that's gotten extremely popular.

4.5 million? What did Origins get?

4 Million was mentioned. If that is true DA2 will be a utter failure.
Also, while sales are not a direct indication of quality, its the only thing publishers listen too.

You are right. Sales are usually not necessarily an indication of quality. However, with the amount of heavy advertisement that went with DA2, if they are poor, they will be.

If they're counting all the pre-orders that they failed to deliver on, and all the standard editions people had to go out and buy instead, then i'm sure the sales numbers are fantastic...

What would help with Dragon Age II sales is being able to buy it from a certain major super market chain in the UK which begins with T..... but no such luck. FAIL.

This game was in the Top 3 sales in Steam since they start to sell. So I'm pretty sure that the pre-orders did a bunch of money to EA. I just play the demo and didn't like, so I didn't buy. Anyway I think will sell well, not that well, but not that weak.

Honestly I knew this EA call for money was coming to BioWare games, I don't really care to DA, cause my thing is Mass Effect, and I know they will follow the same settings in ME3, so I'm good. However I know this release of ME3 yet in 2011 is also a product of an EA "call", but ME should be safe, or at least I'm trying to fool myself. Let's see what will happen.

It's that thing, EA calls to BioWare, the guys from BW said that there's no time and EA said "you don't need to do a whole world, just one city is good, the thing is I need this game". BW: "ok"

And if you are a fan, remember that this is a business, so deal with it, life is tough.

And guys, stop with the troll thing. It's just silly assume that if you complain you are a troll.

It may turn out the same way films do. Say a movie comes out, was a smash and a sequel is made. People will attend based on expectation and love of that first film. If the movie is seen by the masses as sub par however, word of mouth will kill it dead. I'm sure there are people who like or even love DA2. I myself find it painfully average...and that's because I've convinced myself it has nothing to do with DAO.

Even still, it's sorely lacking in key areas and bares little resemblance to a Bioware game or an rpg. That said, initial sales figures might be good based on expectation. But it's rather impossible to ignore the firestorm of negativity that seems to be everywhere on the internet about this game. I can't ever remember a game where the user views and the so called "professional" reviews were so divided.

I can't shake the feeling that Bioware, in an effort to court the COD, Halo, and Gears Of War crowd, alienated the fans that made them what they are for a larger piece of pie. It makes me feel like the message is "you don't matter because we can  potentially make more money elsewhere, take it or leave it!" That's not smart business. Risk taking is part of the game but the question is how big of a risk are you willing to take? You NEVER ignore who or what gave you your name to chase money. It doesn't always pay off. I realize that everything changes with time, but there can be no excuse when one of those changes is quality.

Is it really worth it,  gambling your loyal fanbase to court a crowd that for the most part hasn't bought or played many of your games? I guess its the age old question of art vs. commerce. For years Bioware mastered the perfect marriage between them. DA2 IMO is more about one over the other....while also being a marketing tool for DLC.  Less art doesn't always equal more commerce. So, what happens when you try to sell your next project to that same fanbase who may not be willing to give you the benifit of the doubt anymore based on name alone?  We'll have to wait and see.  I hope this was a one time stunt/gamble because I've really enjoyed their games over the years. RPG's are the only games I play. Hey, there's always Bethesda, CD Project Red, and others. Time will tell....

It's projected to sell better than Origins. Besides, at this point, Origins wasn't looking too good either. So to say this game doesn't sale well is to say Origins was even worse. This game is superior in a good many areas though. I don't see anything they did that makes it any less of an RPG. And people, stop saying stuff about COD and Halo. You're just hatefully and bashingly assuming they are all idiots who only deal in instant gratification. I just hope this game sales well so they don't go back to an Origins style game, even thought that did do somethings well.

I think that was before the fan outcry. Would they make those same projections now? Who can say?

the game didnt even have auto attack and they wouldn't have known that the real thing did unless they came here.

When the new Xbox 360 Slim came out, it shot to the top of Amazon. When the PS3 Slim came out, same thing. COD, GOW, Halo, and on and on......all at the top of the bestsellers list...with a considerable amount of staying power I might add.  Bioware's other games also fared much better at this stage of release on that list. It just came out! Where is DA2 on that same list? It's falling not rising. Take a look at the 3 platforms and tell me if that isn't a reaction to negative word of mouth? A new game listed in those 3 spots from BIOWARE, a AAA company? Something has gone wrong. And it's sad to see. Yes, it's one site, but a very important one none the less.

you pretentious RPG hipsters are hypocrites. You'll criticize the game for allegedly reaching out to a mass audience, then expect the game to sell poorly because some of the RPG elitists don't like it

I hope and hope that the game doesnt do well because it if it does then they will do more of the same.

I'm 15 hours in and I must say the first 10 hours is crap. The game is only fun once you get better levels and there is basically no story even while I'm still 15 hours in. I'm told what to do to progress forward in whatever story it's trying to tell, but it's a constant amount of running around a city with nothing to look at but cement-block-buildings. I won't give my final judgement until I'm done, but I can say that the beginning of this game is crap. So far I rate it a 6/10. It's still a good game, it is just horrific for BioWare standards, especially after what Mass Effect 2 was last year. I suppose this branch of BioWare isn't very skilled. I will buy games from the branches that make the Mass Effect franchise and TOR, but Dragon Age has a lore that lacks true depth.

This game had so much potential. Contrary to some of the post here, I'm hoping this game does well that way the DA team will have more time to dev. DA 3 or the next installment, I remember being so excited for DA 2 when I opened the awakening case and saw the mystery date...then again the fail of the mystery date should of been a red flag >.>.

But its not a better game and it's not selling well. My only problem is if the sales numbers are bad then DA3 will never happen, EA wont take the time to think what the problem is they will just kill the franchise.

Im sorry, but whomever is running Bioware is a complete moron, you try to make an RPG to get the COD crowd, even tho the COD for the most part doesnt give a crap about RPG's, a game that came out in November "cod black ops" outsold DA this month!!!

I think Mikey Laidlaw and crew are delsusional at best, honestly DA2 doesnt deserve to break the top 5 on any platform and it probably wont.

Hopefully they fire Mike and try to get Brent back to do the game some justice.

Dont you DARE compare DA2 to ****ing COD you stupid **** COD is repetitve and boring and hasent changed for 6 years and is the same thing over and over again. DA2 is an actual sequal they added new things. where as COD is the same game everytime just differnt guns BORING. And Mike Laidlaw is awsome met him at a Dragon age booth at a Game Convention really cool guy who has done much more the game. And who the **** are you to say they should fire him he changed the game for the better So shut the **** up u little **** and stop crying and play this amazing ASS ****ING GAME THAT BIOWARE HAS CREATED.

1. COD is a good, albiet different game. You demonstrate your ignorance when you try to bash it.

2. How on earth is DA2 like COD in anyway shape of form? In one game you follow a tightly scripted story in which there is zero customization, fight from a FPP, and rely extensively on multiplayer. They really have nothing in common, other than that they are both good games.

Cod is trash. Battlefield 3!

Dragon Age 2 should never have been made to try and draw peopel from an fps game clearly if they are playing something as bad CoD then why would they come to an RPG? Fps fans will stick to fps and rpg fans will stick to rpgs.

Witcher 2 will be released and sales of DA2 will die. Witcher 2 does it better, and their team is the same A-Team that made the first. The same type of action, better story, and more believable powers (not mutant super-powers that DA2 went with).

The predictions of future sales are fine considering that they are for units sold not for price earned per unit. This game will be reduced like FNV in no time at all. Then the sales numbers will go up, Bioware/EA will claim a massive victory. The only ones screwed are those of us that bought it early (took-one-for-the-team) and came back to warn everyone.

I expect this to be hitting some good sales on Steam in three more weeks, so they can meet their 1'st Quarter numbers and then write the whole thing off. That is my prediction.

Of course, I also plan to be modding this (with my team) until the day Witcher 2 comes out trying to do what we can to make it worth re-playing (I have finished it).

All this talk of the Witcher is pissing me off. I've played the 1st, and it wasn't that great. I'll probably prefer DA2 to TW2, just as I did DA over TW.

I hope it sells well, just for the sake that EA will let Bioware make another one.

And on that note, if Bioware is able to, I hope they take in all of this criticism on the forums. I enjoyed the game - not as much as DA:O, but I'll still replay it for the sake of the fact I love the DA universe...and that there isn't many better fantasy RPG's out there.

And I don't get all the console hate. Are PC gamers special or something? From what I hear, if you want to run a game well on a PC - you have to pay alot more bucks for that then a console. I hope some of you take that into fact when you call console players stupid or something.

The sad thing is that the initial wave of sales was probably the largest and that was all before we even knew the game wasn't... what we expected.

The game will sell well and so with the DLC the time of hardcore rpg's has come and gone. thank god
