It's doing fine, it's on top of the UK sales chart:

http://www.joystiq.c...uk-sales-chart/

I don't think the U.S. is presenting individual game sales anymore.

Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon on the PC version, and nowhere close to the top twenty in the Video Games section.

That's a little rough.

First off, Dragon Age 2 has more base content than Origins

LOL

You are all fanboys, looking for more of the same. Wanna know something? Your opinion only matters if the game doesn't sell. Preorders alone will prove you do not matter.

Fanboys do most of the pre-orders

Black Ops, a game that i thought was just...meh, has been revealed to be the best selling game of all time.

So for you, best selling game = best game

Complaining about a game because it makes it easier for the general public to play well, arguing points that are just plain wrong (tactics are more flushed out, feature more options, and are better than the original Dragon Age; idiots) doesn't help your case.

I can't argue here, you are so right

Dragon Age 2 features more detail, better environments, and more variation.

LMAO

You are complaining because it moves faster, which is silly, because we are in the age of modernization and speed. Instant gratification.

button = awesome

It isn't that the game has been turned into an action game

Nope a classic D&D game for sure

I mean, do you really expect them to have the budget to voice and create ALL of the extra stuff you want?

LOL the budget for that bad voice acting must be 1% of what they won with their pathetic DLC

You are all just...illogical.

LOL Read yourself again

I'm inclined to think everyone is a troll.

Are you for real?

...well. I found something. Kind of interesting if true. Not sure what Bioware's expectations on sales numbers were though. After following the link you can click on the total sales box for a further breakdown for that particular system. Looks like the total across all platforms right now is roughly 700,000 if I added that correctly? With the most selling on the 360. Which is kind of funny since it has the lowest Metacritic score (at the time of writing this) of 79.

They were greedy and not very intelligent about it, by trying to get another "bone", they lost the good "bone" they already had and came out with less than before.

Very appropriate quote

Morons truly abound, thinking BW's downfall is a good thing. They don't realize that to wish them ill benefits no one, not BW, not the gaming industry, not the gamers, not the morons themselves. Such an immature wish to make. It speaks volumes of the empty headedness of these whiners. I bet they're kids who feel they lost their $60 life savings.

Nah. Nothing wrong with wishing a company's doom. BIO going under is not a big deal. I'd just move on and play other games. *shrug*

Its not looking like a good start.

Its not likely to change for the better either because of all the dissapointed customers... me being one of them. DA:O was a game I recommended to all my friends that like rpg, or even bought as a birthday gift for them etc. Its rather the opposite with this sequel.

da2 was not the sequel it was a warm up to the true sequel which will will never get o.O

To wish them their downfall is outright stupid. But to wish that rushed games with "streamlined" content aren't an instant success, is quite a different pair of shoes. That is, unless you want a never ending stream of less content for more money. Because that's what the market will produce if less effort pays well.

Except DA2 has pretty much the same amount of content. Took me 56 hours to play DA2, and 59 hours for DA1. *shrug*

Did you do most of the side quests? or is that the main quest alone?

Took me 19-20 hours to finish DA:O and 26 for DA2

Anyone got an up-to-date link to see how the sales are going?

Damn. That's fast. Anyways, I do as much side quests as possible if it fits my character ie. i avoid obvious assassin type quests in DA1 found in that one inn.

I don't want Bioware to fold, I want the game to flop (and it looks like it's flopping hard) and for them to get the message that they can't just push out garbage and expect a warm reception.

The goal they set was 4.5 million. The game has sold somewhere between 1.2-1.5 million. Assuming the high end (1.5 million), the initial sale rush is finished and the bad word of mouth is spreading. Sales are slowing to the point that it's extremely unlikely the sales will reach 2 million. Blame that on whatever you want, but numbers are numbers. Considering the high bar they expected to reach that is, without any doubt, a flop.

Good, maybe now they will return to the tried and true model set by Origins...maybe, just maybe...DA3 will be the "real" DA2!

Here's hoping!

Won't happen unless Laidlaw gets canned or moved to another project. His solution for the problem would be more button=awesome.

I have been browsing sites with reviews, and just normal people's views of the game to get a taste of what real people think of DA2 and this particular one resonated with me, as it is kind of how I feel about it:

"Origins felt like a labour of love, and it just sucked you in. DA2 feels like a commercial product designed to hit certain points on a checklist to make as much money as possible. And yes, they do hit many of those points and so it does end up being fun, but it just doesn't feel the same, it doesn't feel anything at all."

To me, it is fun enough. 70/100 at best when taken as a whole. Well written enough. But in the end it all rings hollow to me. Like it meant nothing. Can a game have no soul? No idea. But that is the feeling I had when done. Still, it *is* fun enough for whatever it is. Epic though, it is not.

IF it is selling well, I hope the people who like DA2 now like DA3. If they marketed it as an action/story sort of game, I may even buy it. But if I wanted an RPG I might try a different title, from a different company. The name BIOWARE and the association with DA:O sold DA2 to me, not the reviews etc. It is my personal experience with DA2 that will make me wary in the future though. Depending on what sort of a game I want to play. I wish them no harm at ALL. I still love Bioware and hope they return to their roots. i also hope they are given the time to do something fantastic and not just something fast.

Ah well, the horse is dead enough already I suppose.   :P

There is no way that DA 2 reaches 4.5 million sales at this point. It would be a miracle for them to reach 3 million much less 4.

This game is a total flop. Esp. if you say the goal is 4.5 million but end up hoping to get half of that - yeah I'd say it's a flop.

No.
