I was wondering if anyone could create a mod that would allow us to use
the dual wield tree with longswords. I attempted to edit the files
myself, but I do not have enough knowledge regarding 2da files to do it
without completely messing up the game. If anyone could create this mod
or give me a tutorial that would be most appreciated. Thanks!

This sounds like fun, let me know if you actually make the mod; I will want to play with it.

I'll do my best. I have found the right file where I would change the designation of the longswords, but I am not certain what string I am supposed to use to change them to daggers. What I am really trying to do is get the FadeShear Sword turned into a dagger designation but still have the same model and overall stats\\. I will work on this over the next couple of days, but I doubt I will get anywhere without more information on the files in Dragon Age 2. I need to know the strings and where to place them, otherwise I could completely screw up the game. What we really need is a patch for the DA toolset that would let us mod DA 2. Either that or maybe some nice person from Bioware could give us the strings for all the weapon models. Other wise I don't know the difference between Longsword 01 or Greatsword 03.

Still trying to work out how to allow dual weapon skills to be usable with dual long swords.

Edit: Hrm, well I kind of figured it out but it won't work the way you'd want it to. Animations are set to only work with dual daggers it seems and unless you turn off animations, I think, certain skills just won't work properly.

I am already dual wielding long swords. Did a download of moving restrictions, is working for me so far. Does not have the speed of daggers but still works. I am using dragonage nexus, they have a few downloads already for da2.

There is a download on dragonage nexus that remove restrictions. It works, my last rogue I made is now dual longswords already. Working for me, just not as fast as dagger, but still cool.

Well I was thinking that one solution would be making copies of longswords as Daggers?

I think you mean the "No Restrictions" mod from Nexus right?
Well i tried to dual wield longswords with that but cant put a second on into the offhand but the funny thing is that a Warrior can use shield skills with a offhand dagger.
The only thing i can equip is a longsword+dagger but the dual wield weapon skills dosent work... maybe because mainweapon must be a Dagger in order ot use the skills.

There is no way the no restriction mod from DA2 would allow dual long swords to be equipped since the file that needs to be edited is completely different.

I would simply suggest using daggers and changing the item appearance to your favorite longsword models. This is much easier than trying to change base item properties.

You can just change the TemplateRef to sword ones

remove the requirements for "dual wielding" from the tree, for all intents and purposes, swords should still work with dagger animations, for the most part.

In theory, not in practice.
