I happen to agree completely. I think this was a horrible move by bioware. I played ME:2 twice.. and now its on the shelf.. I however did play DA:O 5 times through, each time giving different characters different armor sets and gear in order to find my favorite and best combinations for party members and gear. But what does Bioware care if i play this game for 30 minutes or for 120+ hours like I did with DA:O... They still get there 60$...
I agree with the Above comment about action RPG. This game lost so much in character development that it is almost difficult to play through. It was great being able to talk to my party members about there surroundings.. It actually felt like I was there.. Which is entirely the point of a good RPG.
But, Alas, I did not do my own investigation before I purchased. I preordered the game as soon as I could.... DA:O was such a huge part of my gaming experience, I didnt possibly think the sequel could be such a huge let down...
Im currently just going through the expedition.. and If things dont change a bit, well Lets just say this game will not be getting a platinum trophy..

The other aspect are the quests to get the armor sets. When i heard about the perfect armor set for character A i was building or another set that would be great for character B and his traits, I went and hunted down all the necessary pieces. So it wasn't only being able to change out the armor but there were so many different sets with different abilities for different characters. Then the quest of aquiring them.
I am still enjoying the game but it is nnot as enveloping for me.

I personally would rather wear super weak armor as long as I actually like it. If it makes me weak to the point that fights become ten times harder, then so be it. I'll make up for it with strategy, i don't care. Reason being is this: I don't want to look at something that i dislike. if i dislike the champion armor (and I do, except for mage. I love the mage champion armor), then you can expect me to pawn that stuff off the moment i get it. same thing goes with everything else. I won't use a generic two-handed sword if it's just a copy of something very common (unless it looks REALLY nice), even if it's stats are ten thousand times better than my current sword. RPG's don't require people to wear top notch gear. If anything, the reason rpg's had so much gear was for people to find something they both like AND is practical for them. Hence why i wear rogue and mage armor as a warrior. Is it practical? hell no. Do i like it? Hell yes (Robes of the Something Pirate or Pirate something ftw), and that immerses me far more than "The best armor for your class/build is over here. Do this quest and this stuff to get it. Oh, and it's ugly (personal opinion)"
But i agree, the amount of armor in this game is seriously lacking. There's like, five unique outfits. Three of which are class specific (champion armor). Of course, i wouldn't complain as much about it if they'd let me wear Meredith's armor without the pauldrons. Small breastplate? Check. without chain, exposed midrif(sp)? Check. Skirt? Long, but still check. Awesome? Yes.
PS: I like the companion armor, cept for fenris's and Ander's. Varric needs a shirtless option (dat chest hair).
