Act 3 you can make the decision at the very end in fact, just say, "I side with the Templars." Thats it.

i gave the arishok the relic but he demands that he be able to take isabella back with him for punishment. at that point you can stand up for her resulting in a duel with the arishok.

How did you GET the relic? Every playthrough I've done Isabela has run off with it... or do you have to be romanced with her, then she stays?

she runs off every time. But with full Friendship/Rivalry, she should come back when you are in front of the Arishok. Maybe you have to pick the "We will get the Relic for you."-Line during the Quest.

See, this was hard for me. lol. I hated that jerk Cullen in BOTH games. When I came upon him in this game I was like "Oh, great... what IDIOT put HIM in this rank..." and from then on out on my first playthrough, I sided with the Mages because I knew the Templar leadership had to be the biggest pack of morons this side of Orlais. In the end, I was actually pretty sick of everyone involved at the top (except the Grand Cleric, who ends up dying anyhow). When confronted with Merideth and Orsino, I wanted nothing more than to tell them both to get the hell out of MY city; that I was taking over, and if either of them didn't like it, they could each suck on the tip of one of my arrows. *LOL* I was completely disgusted with all involved by that point.

Even when Sebastion was like "I'll come back with an army!!!" I was thinking to myself, "You know what? Go ahead. It'll be a dead army soon after. What's one more army to destroy?" I was just tired of being forced into a reactive role and was ready to take action to solve things, but the game just wouldn't let me.

You sir are awesome, yeah I feel the same way, I don't want to side with either of them... Merideth and the First Enchanter are both idiots, at the end I just wanted to kill them both which I did, but why do I even have to pick a side... it's not like they helped you in the end either... The first goes insane you kill him, Merideth goes insane you kill her...

I hate that you have to side with Templars to become Viscount though... The Templars are ****s in this... if they were like the Templars in Ferelden I'd consider it, but I've nearly finished this game 3 times and I just can't bring myself to side with the Templars...

I got in good graces with Cullen, but I also did a quest with the nobility to get them to side with me. I'm wondering if that also helped get the Viscount when you side with the Templars.

Basically you have to be a Templars puppet. It was actually mentioned that a previous Viscount who was a tyrant they had no problem with him until he tried to get rid of the Templars. So basically they don't care what the ruler does as long as he or she supports them.

I went through the game mostly helping mages.

But at the end i sided with the Templars. Not Meredith. I decided that i would save what mages i could, while restoring peace and ignoring Merediths orders.....and Cullen agreed :)

Also became viscount at the end.

You dont become the Viscount. The game might tell you that you do but really, you dont.

Why would you want to be viscount of that place?

Beyond an achievement? You probably wouldn't.

ppl, becoming Viscount is one of the trophies/achievements. so if yuyr going for Platinum/1000G yur gonna have to get it.

according to this trophy guide: http://www.ps3trophi...dmap-w-dlc.html

all you have to do is side with Meredith at the end

I believe you just have to let her have the relic, and have done the 50% companion quest/scene. She came back for me, and I dueled the Arishok. Boy was that a pain as a tank.

So if i side with the templars i won't be able to kill meredith? But i can kill Orsion when i side with the mages? Thats just messed up if that's the case.

You get to kill both no matter who you side with.
Siding with the templars != siding with Meredith.

I became viscount when I sided with the Templars.

On my pro-mage playthrough, my mage and Anders fled after the battle.

There's nothing to add. The guy got it all right and ended the debate with this irrfutable argument ! =O

Well, then, if you don't want to side with the templars, just restart another char that will do. I first did a Mage that fled with Anders (romance, and all) and now I did an orphan traumatized Rogue who will side with the templars ! =O

As long as you sided with the Temaplars, they bow to you after the fight, basically recognizing your right to rule.

But no matter which side you choose, you'll have to kill both Orsino and Meredith. And even if you become the Viscount, you'll only hear about it in Verric's tale; you won't actually get to do anything as the Viscount. This isn't Fable 3.

The title of "champion of freedom" from the mages is much better than "Templar puppet viscount"
So why be viscount when i can be a legend?

Because it's an achievement.

Just beat the game once, and I was like "Wtf, why didn't I become viscount?"

Thanks for this thread guys, it helps alot. :D

OT question: What happens if you roll a mage? I mean like... Do the templars hunt you and stuff like that?

If you're a mage the templars do not actively hunt you... I think Meredith says something about tolerating you (and/or) your companions because of your status, otherwise she would have arrested you (and/or) your companions...
