The true shame is that the player is literally railroaded into a position of (political) power and influence at the end of Chapter II, but there aren't any opportunities to actually play the games of power yourself. Origins marvelously did this with the Landsmeet arc, and Awakening to a lesser extent as well, whereas the game in which you are actually promised to "Rise to power" sadly didn't...Jonezymon2 wrote...

More choices as to Hawke's future would also have been nice. It doesn't matter if all of them eventually leave the city, there's no reason a pro-mage Hawke couldn't temporarily rule as viscount in an attempt to create a safe-haven for mages.
