I think he means that the fact that you do not get to exercise that power is most dissatisfactory

The true shame is that the player is literally railroaded into a position of (political) power and influence at the end of Chapter II, but there aren't any opportunities to actually play the games of power yourself. Origins marvelously did this with the Landsmeet arc, and Awakening to a lesser extent as well, whereas the game in which you are actually promised to "Rise to power" sadly didn't...

More choices as to Hawke's future would also have been nice. It doesn't matter if all of them eventually leave the city, there's no reason a pro-mage Hawke couldn't temporarily rule as viscount in an attempt to create a safe-haven for mages.

you know i love how u ppl can talk and talk and not answer a simple question. its amazing. really and ppl wonder why this world is going to hell. and know u probly wondering why im comparing a questiion to a game to the real world and its simple if our leaders would answer the problems instead of bull****ing (example:what yall are doing) then answers would be found to our problems. so why cant yall just answer the question instead of having ur own little conversations if u wanna do that i think they have furoms for that.Immagine inviata

What are you talking about?
People answered the Viscount question on the first page... multiple times.

Would you really want to rollplay an election?

Hell yes. The Landsmeet was one of the most awesome moments in the entire game line.

Well the Landsmeet eventually devolves into a fight, hence why it is an awesome election. But without the fight? Unless dialogue choices allowed you to give some over the top, awesome, bad-ass speeches that will influence voters, or allow you to perform some very underhanded blackmail and cheating, it would not be exciting at all.

Isn't the Landsmeet duel between The Warden and Loghain based on King Calenhad dueling certain Teyrns for their territory when he was forming the nation of Ferelden, like when Calenhad duelled the Teyrn of Highever?

Your mileage may vary there. I loved the Landsmeet even before Loghain flipped and decided to have a duel. I loved gathering support against him, using my alliance with Anora, my earlier sidequests, and good judgment. It was politics made fun!

Yes it was fun, particularly because you can cultivate the support of the nobles via some of the quests you do before the Landsmeet happens, like one of the Crows missions where you wound up rescuing a noble's scion without you knowing it. But if it played out like regular elections with people voting in a booth, it would blow, unless you had some awesome way to influence the outcome, like rousing speeches, a lively debate, underhanded blackmail, etc.

it just sucks man, i mean no matter what class i am i always end up siding with the mages. i mean even when i played a mage i wanted to destroy the templars. i was hoping to get to fight carver i hated him lol. but i guess the best thing you can do is save before you choose ur side, and choose the templars. kill meredith and orsino, get the achievement then re-load and choose to side with the mages. saves you having to play the entire game all the way through again.

As posted several times in this thread: you need to side with the Templars at the end of the game.

Yes, a mage can become viscount. Just side with the templars at the end.

I never become the Viscount. I am a ****ing legend in playing DA and DA2. I just paid attention to all the details, but no matter how much I keep an eye on it, I never get the achievement.

Of course I was not looged in the moment I finished Meredith off. But I was online before. I made all the decisions. I even supported the worst ideas, the real maniac ones. I talked like "As you wish, Meredith" and "Go kill all Mages" but nevertheless, I don't get the achievement in question.
